TAG in HIGH SCHOOL

WHAT ARE YOUR “FLEXIBILITY OPTIONS” AS A “TAG TITAN” @ NHS?

How do we do TAG?First and foremost, we attempt

to serve all current TAG Students

in their Honors and AP courses

TAG ADVISEMENT by APPT

FLEXIBILITY IN SCHEDULING

New NHS TAG Options? +Flexibility

1.(Grades 9-11), at Northview we will no longer offer the “LUNCH & LEARN” Seminars like we have in the past.

2. With ONE IMPORTANT EXCEPTION: We will continue the TAG “HIRE ME” SEMINAR, a ONE-DAY PER WK, LUNCH & LEARN for prospective TAG CAREER INTERNS – IN ANY SEMESTER BEFORE INTERNSHIP

3.Also, students may approach me about engaging in an Independent Projects (“IP”), which would also meet once per week.

4.(Grades 11-12) Directed Study, and TAG Career Internships, AP, GAVS, or College Courses.

TESTING & IDENTIFICATION (2X

annually)IN THE FALL, we engage in a PROCESS known as

AUTOMATIC SCREENING

Note: CRCTs are gone, and no longer used

New STAR TEST, ITBS, and PSAT scores from the previous school year, or that are transferred in from 8th grade.

IN THE SPRING, we engage in a PROCESS of IDENTIFICATION known as “CISS”, AKA Characteristics Inventory Student Survey for teachers to complete.

Other Georgia Counties?

If a student was tested and identified as Gifted in another GA County, then there is reciprocity in Georgia, which means that we just need to have the DCI, or DATA COLLECTION INSTRUMENT, which is the testing results form, OR a “CONTINUATION” form from whatever county, etc.

You should have a copy; if not, we can contact the former middle or high school for a copy.

Other States and Nations?

If the student was tested and identified as Gifted in another STATE or NATION, unfortunately, we must RE-TEST, again, for GIFTED RE-QUALIFICATION.

But, the GIFTED STATUS in another STATE OR NATION is a “trigger” or data for which we would include your child in the testing process. Please e-mail us from our page on the school website.

There are six ways that students participate in

TAG…

1. TAG Seminar “Lunch & Learn” (ONE DAY PER WEEK), “HIRE ME”
