First Friday Teaching
Preserving the Bond of Unity
The Way of Conflict is manifested in:1. Hostility especially in Speech2. Advocates of conflict place high value on protest, confrontation, and
moral intimidation .3. Advocacy of conflict leads to factions and divisions.
The Way of Meekness is characterized by:1. Trust that our words will get good hearing from our brothers and sis-
ters.2. Trust that others also want to follow the truth.3. Trust that the Lord does lead our community and the BCBP.
When our members see something they think could be improved :1. They should share their opinion in a constructive way.
2. When their evaluation is negative, they should only speak to someoneresponsible for the area about which they are concerned.3. When they feel that their concern is a serious one, they should ask that
their suggestion be seriously weighed, and if they do not receive affirma-tive response, they may speak to the person, who is next higher in re-sponsibility, if they are convinced the matter is important enough. Theyshould however accept that the final decision belongs to those who areresponsible.
Those who are responsible for an area should respond in the follow-
ing way :1. They should be eager to receive input from others in the community
about their area of responsibility.2. They should take suggestions and negative evaluation seriously.3. When a suggestion is serious and they do not agree with it, they should
normally give an account of their own approach to the interested per-son.
4. If it seems like there might be broader concern in the body about thematter, they should conduct an evaluation with input from membership.
The Lord wants His people to be one as He and
the Father are one
