Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name

We commit ourselves to the lifestyle befitting Gods children honesty,

    humility, truthfulness, justice .

This raises our awareness of our dignity as heaven-bound and decreases our

    appetite for sin.

Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven

We commit ourselves with zeal to the building of Gods kingdom on

    earth.... in family workplace community

This raises our docility to Gods plan and our flexibility to Gods call.

Meanwhile it decreases the likelihood of disobeying the commandments and

increases our readiness to love .

Give us this day our daily bread

It is supposed to heighten faith in Gods capacity to provide and so detach

our hearts from the greedy desire for more than the bread we need for the

    day.

This disposes us to store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor

rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal (Matt. 6:20)

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us

We commit our hearts to the work of reconciliation.

Do not bring us to the test but deliver us from evil

We commit ourselves to rejecting not just sin but even the slightest indica-

    tion of it.

    Money

The proverbial statement about money being the root of all evil is always

being taken seriously by some and laughed at by others. Those who made pursuit

of money their end goal in life are trapped in its insatiable lure. This group believe

that money is the root of all happiness.

In the first reading, the preacher, Qoheleth uses the popular idiomatic phrase,

vanity of vanities, all things are vanity to indicate the uselessness of seeking wealth

for itself. For him, the amount of energy and time spent pursuing it including sleep-

less nights is not worth it after all. Unless money is sought for its true purpose as

Christ would tell us, that is to use our earthly wealth to purchase the heavenly

    inheritance.

St. Paul in his letter to the Colossians, echoed the very meaning of Christs

words when he wrote, think of what is above not of what is on earth. In the

gospel of Luke, God regarded as fools those who think they have accumulated

enough and put their security in wealth instead of in Him.

So one may ask, what is money for and how would it be understood in terms of

being a Christian? Money is a human invention of putting in monetary value to

properties or wealth that one accumulated. It is used to acquire properties, and

today it is used for compensation for work done. After the age of barter, money

became the purchasing power and its accumulation became the bane of everyone.

Since it is small and not bulky like properties, its accumulation could be addictive

and can blind anyone who pursues it with all aggressiveness. The greed of it is what

brings about all sorts of evil, like robbery, killing, lies, powerfulness and other vices.

As a Christian, money should be seen as a gift from God meant to serve thepurpose of humanity, in bringing about fulfillment, happiness and contentment

when rewarded justly. In this case, seeking money for its sake will constitute an

aberration. Hence in the BCBP, bringing Christ to the market place means preach-

ing about the proper use of money for the sake of the Kingdom No bribery, no

cheating of others, no wasteful spending. Rather, money should be used first and

foremost for the welfare of the family, taking care of the needs of the owner and

living the Christian principle of helping our brothers and sisters in need.

When we would have done these, we are no longer to be regarded as fools, but those that will inherit the kingdom prepared by Christ. May through the inter-

cession of St. John Mary Vianney, may we all receive this gift of God, wealth, and

be able to use it wisely for our own good here on earth and for the life of the

    world to come. Amen

    Fr. Martin

    prayer is needed on cer-

    tain occasions.

    In the gospel last Sun-

    day, July 28, it explicitly

    mentioned how prayer

when lived make ones life -

a life of fullness. No matter

    how you are faced with

    difficulties your disposition

would always be that of a

    child giving up everything

    with full dependence to

    our Lord.

    It is therefore worth

    considering how is our

    prayer life in relation to

    our present lifes situation.

Has it propelled us to do

    more for Gods kingdom?

The Gift of Voicetalks in the Brotherhood

    is my way of thanking

God for the gift of voice.

    While in my youth I

    thought I could only sing

under a cover or in the

    bathroom, now I use my

    voice in a special way,

    singing before Gods

    assembly proclaiming Hiswords.

It is true that we can

    only appreciate the value

of a thing when its gone.

    That I learned first hand.

And so I thank the Lord

    for opportunity to serve

    Him through this gift of

    voice.

    throaty.

    This lead me to reflect

    on Gods gift of voice.

    How He lovingly accompa-

    nied me during the two

    throat operations I had.

    One in 1983 removing a

    goiter. The other in 2009

    removing two abnormal

growths - one below myright ear, the other on my

    neck. On these two opera-

tions I kept my voice while

    others were unfortunate

    to lose it. Maybe because

God wants me to use it for

    His glory.

    Serving God as a Lector

    and Psalmist and giving

    Born from a singer

    mother and a musician

    father, music runs

    through my bloodline.

    However I was not given

    the best of what my

    parents had compared

    to my other siblings. But

what I have I use to

serve God.Last week I was down

    again with another bout

of very hard cough until I

lost my voice. It give me

    vacation time as Psalmist

    of our parish. It worried

    me though for after

    seven days of antibiotics

    my voice was still

The best way to walk each day is not by walking with nice shoes, but by walking with God. Walk notonly by feet but walk with faith in your heart.

    of God often awakened by

    the memory of the heart:

    We must remember God

    more than often than we

    draw breath. But we can-

not pray at all times if

we do not pray at specific

    times, consciously willing

    it. These are the special

    times of Christian prayer,

    both in intensity and dura-

    tion.

    Similarly the only prayer

    taught by Jesus, The Lords

    Prayer, which is consid-

    ered the Perfect Prayer

    hasnt been given much

    weight. Probably this is one

of the prayers often said in

a day BUT had not been

    internally felt. Most likely

    just as compliance as

    What is Prayer? What

is Perfect Prayer? Bothhad been given in our 1st

    Friday Teachings of June

    and July respectively. But

    how much did we get

    from those talks?

    Taken from Catechism

    of the Catholic Church

    (CCC 2697) it says;

Prayer is the life of the

    new heart. It ought to

animate us at very mo-ment. But we tend to

    forget him who is our

life and our all. This is

    why the Fathers of the

    spiritual life in the Deu-

    teronomic and prophetic

    traditions insist that

    prayer is a remembrance
