February 2014 Hello Parents
Our second Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled for February 18th
at the Edmore School Last fall in my newsletter article I included some
suggested questions you may want to ask your childrsquos teachers during the
conferences I had several parents tell me they used these questions at
their childrsquos conference Some of these questions may work for you others
will spark your own questions The main idea is that yoursquore there to talk
about your child and ways that you and the classroom teacher can work
together -How well does my child get along with other kids With you the teacher
With staff and aides
-What areas of schoolwork is my child strong in
-What areas of schoolwork does she need work in
-Does it matter that my child is not very developed in some or many areas
that other children seem to have no problems in
-Do you think my child is working up to herhis abilities
-How does my child express hisher emotions like anger or frustration
-What are some of the positive things my child does in class
-What ways do you as the teacher reward or punish behaviors
-Does my child work better with other children or alone
-How do you grade your students
-What things can I do at home to help my child
-How much homework help do you think the parents should give
-How much time should my child be spending on homework each night
-Do you think my childrsquos homework could use some improvement
-What are your requirements for homework being on time
-What consequences do the children face when homework is late
-What can we do together to create a positive collaboration and team and
stay excited about working for the growth of my child
We hope to see you all on February 18th at PT conferences in
Edmore Letrsquos work together to help your child have a GREAT year at
