COMMITMENT TO INNOVATION

• Being rebuilt for the 4th time

• Moving with the best available technology of the time

• Dedicating significant portion of our budget to development

• Always listening to our customers

• Combining the best of our past systems

BASIC HTML (7 YEARS)

• Two different versions

• Worked in all browsers

• Very limited ability to have a robust front end UI

• Benefits • Low memory footprint

• You could bookmark pages and jump right to them

• Open tabs in different windows

MOVE TO FLEX / FLASH (7 YEARS)

• Environment of the time • Chrome didn’t exist

• IE 6, FF 3

• jQuery was brand new

• Flex was seen as the best tool at the time for really large enterprise applications

• Few standards that were followed

• No iPhone

• Debugging in html was almost non-existent

• Usage pattern was to log in at the beginning of the day and keep it open all day

TODAY

• People work differently with their computers

• Computers travel with you everywhere

• Phones and tablets go with you everywhere

• Constantly online

• Need to go from not thinking about Workamajig to the app

you need in 5 seconds

• Expect easy-to-use, focused apps

DESIGN PRINCIPLES

• Fast to load

• Low memory footprint

• Easy to read

• Modern design

• Use power of the browser to our advantage • Tabs

• Favorites

• History

• Responsive (works on everything from desktops to phones)

HOW ARE WE ROLLING THIS OUT?

• Creatives

• Sales / Account Managers

• Traffic / Project Managers / Resource Manager

• Clients

• Accounting

WHY ROLL IT OUT IN STAGES?

• Want to prove out our design principles

• Modular rollout to allow easier transition to the new

product

• Designed to affect the largest numbers of people

quickest

• Gets in the hands of the people who work in this new

way the most (mobile)

IS THERE GOING TO BE AN APP?

• No

• Version issues

• Development overhead

• Don’t use most of the phone features

WHAT SHOULD YOU EXPECT?

• There is a different set of issues

• You are going to need to get a modern browser • On the Desktop: IE 10+, Safari, Chrome and Firefox

• Mobile / Tablet: IE 11, Safari, Chrome

• The browser manufacturer is going to matter more

• It’s in Beta • Testing our interactions and designs

• Need your feedback
