Virtue is insufficient temptation.  ~George Bernard Shaw~

Respect Responsibility Perseverance Integrity Unity Aroha

Amber Nichol Room 11

We show respect by speaking and acting with courtesy. We treat others with dignity and honor the rules of our family, school and

nation. Respect yourself, and others will respect you.

Amber Nichol Room 11

Respect yourself and others will respect you.

Amber Nichol Room 11

To me, showing respect to others

and yourself means to act only with courtesy and honor. Showing

respect to yourself and others is very

important to me.

Amber Nichol Room 11

If people are showing respect, we would hear...

•Polite greetings.

•Manners.

•Asking nicely for things

Amber Nichol Room 11

If people are showing respect, we would see…..

• People greeting others.

• People speaking to others kindly.

• People making way for teachers and other elders.

Amber Nichol Room 11

Being responsible means others can trust you to do things with excellence. You accept

accountability for your actions. When you make a mistake, you offer amends instead of

excuses. Responsibility is the ability to respond ably and to make smart choices.

Amber Nichol Room 11

Perseverance is being steadfast and persistent. You commit to your goals and

overcome obstacles, no matter how long it takes. When you persevere, you don't give up...you keep going. Like a strong ship in a storm, you don't become battered or blown

off course. You just ride the waves.

Amber Nichol Room 11

He conquers who endures.

~Persius ~

Amber Nichol Room 11

To me, perseverance means never giving up and always trying your best. It means never

turning down a challenge just because you think it will be too hard or things

won’t work out. Be persistent. It does pay

off(:

Amber Nichol Room 11

If people are showing

perseverance, we would hear….

•People cheering themselves and others on.

•People giving themselves praise.

•People motivating themselves to do things.

Amber Nichol Room 11

perseverance, we would

hear…

• People trying their hardest.

• People doing things even if they are challenging.

• People carrying things out until they are finished to a high quality.

Amber Nichol Room 11

Integrity is living by your highest values. It is being

honest and sincere. Integrity helps you to listen to your conscience, to do the right thing, and to tell the truth. You act with integrity when

your words and actions match. Integrity gives you self-respect and a peaceful

heart.

Amber Nichol Room 11

Love all, trust a few, do wrong to

none.

~William Shakespeare

Amber Nichol Room 11

Unity helps us work and live together

peacefully. We feel connected with each other and all living

things. We value the specialness of each person as a gift, not

as a reason to fight or be scared. With unity we accomplish more together than any of one of us could alone

Amber Nichol Room 11

Unity is the virtue that holds our community, our school, our work place and

our hearts together.

-Amber Nichol.-

Amber Nichol Room 11

Unity, to me, means that everyone comes together as a community. It means not worrying about other

peoples hair colour or heritage or skin colour and working as a team for a worthy purpose.

Amber Nichol Room 11

If people are showing unity, we

would hear….

•People inviting others to join in.

• People encouraging their own and the other team.

• People giving each other instructions.

Amber Nichol Room 11

If people are showing unity, we

would see….

• People of different ages, races and genders working willingly together.

• People working as a team and showing support for each other.

• People working together for a cause or showing support through out the community.

Amber Nichol Room 11

Aroha is a special feeling that fills your heart. You show aroha in a smile, a kind word, a thoughtful act or a hug. Aroha is treating people and things with care and kindness because they mean so

much to you. Aroha is contagious. It keeps spreading.

Amber Nichol Room 11

Aroha is the condition in which the happiness

of another person is essential to your own.

~Robert Heinlein

Amber Nichol Room 11

To show aroha you must care for those

around you and make sure that they are

happy, because if they aren’t, you aren’t.

Amber Nichol Room 11

If people are showing aroha, we would see…

• People asking others if they are okay.

• People making sure others feel safe and secure in their environment.

Amber Nichol Room 11

we would hear…

• People asking how others feel.

• People asking other how they are.

• People giving encouragement and support.
