Today’s Scripture:

Rejoicing&

Joy

Is it possible to have true,

lasting joy ?

“Why do I have three Super Bowl rings and

still think there's something greater out there for me? I mean, maybe a lot of people would say, 'Hey man,

this is what is.'

I reached my goal, my dream, my life. Me, I think,

'God, it's got to be more than this.' I mean this isn't,

this can't be what it's all cracked up to be.”

[What’s the answer?] “I wish I knew. I wish I knew.”

“I became great and surpassed all those who

were before me in Jerusalem… And

whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I kept my heart from no pleasure, for my heart

found pleasure in all my toil, and this was my reward for all my toil.

A Real Cause For Joy

~ Luke 10:17

The seventy-two returned with joy,

Luke 10:17

saying, “Lord, even the demonsare subject to us in your name!”

And he said to them, “I saw Satan

Luke 10:18-19

fall like lightening from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions,and over all the power of the enemy,and nothing shall hurt you.

Q1: When did Jesus see Satan fall like lightening?

Option #1

Satan’s original fall from Heaven

“And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil

and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to earth, and his angels

were thrown down with him.”~ Revelation 12:9

Option #3

Satan’s current fall from power

“The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.”

~ 1 John 3:8

Q2: What does this mean for us?

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.

Resist him, firm in your faith….”~ 1 Peter 5:8-9

“Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his

Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who

accuses them day and night before our God. And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their

testimony.” ~ Revelation 12:10

“The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.”

Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this,

that the spirits are subject to you, butrejoice that your names are writtenin heaven.

God cannot give us peace and happiness
