OverallThis documentary is a mixed documentary as is uses a mixture of interviews, observation, archive material and narration. Mixed documentaries are becoming increasingly popular as they incorporate various media techniques. The documentary uses linear narration as it starts at the beginning talking about movies and works to the end. The themes in the documentary include movies, marketing, audiences and media. The viewer/audience don’t hear the question in the interview being asked as they are edited out and replaced with a cutaway to fill the gap, this is a code and convention of documentaries.

In this clip the interviewee has be framed to the right of the screen as this is a code and convention of documentaries. Also graphics have been used in this clip as the interviewees name has been positioned underneath them in a bold font with their occupation in a smaller font below their name. This has been done to give the viewer more information about who they are listening to without taking time out of the documentary to introduce themselves.

A medium close up of the interviewee has been used in this documentary as the viewer/audience has a more engaging view of the scene such as the mise en scene of the background and too clearly see who is speaking. The mise en scene in this image is relevant to what the documentary is about as movie posters have been positioned behind her, this anchors meaning to what she is using through the use of visual props.

Archive Footage has been used in this documentary to show clips off movies which breaks up the documentary for the viewer so that they are not constantly watching people being interviewed which keeps them interested. The archive material is related to the topic of the documentary as it is a scene from a movie that is being shown.

Relevant cutaways from the interviews have been used in the documentaries such as this lion king trailer when the interviewee was talking about trailers and this clip from a comedy when he was speaking about bringing the funniest parts of comedies into the trailer. This gives the audience visual image examples of what the interviewee is speaking about and keeps the interested in what is happening.
