INCUBATOR SPECIFICATIONS IN INDONESIA

Specific areas of incubators are agribusiness & agroindustry, manufacturing, common business, and IT.

Many are founded on campus: in the universities and polytechnics. Most incubators handle more number of outwall tenants than inwall tenants since they have only limited spaces.

Although the government supported the establishment of incubators, they are mostly left to grow individually, self supporting and building their own network. Private incubators are few but has high amount of budget to manage such as Freeport.

Regional government does not contribute significantly either. It is a very recent development that the city of Solo – Central Java starts to develop the technology park in 2007 and plan to have an incubator in the middle of it.

Hence, the nowadays tendency to find cooperation with international institutions.

Limited specific links to industrial estates, except the private incubators, technology park has only in the beginning to be established in Indonesia.
