Loans – Carbon Trust• Carbon Trust Loans Scheme

– Description: Zero per cent interest loans to enable SMEs to replace or upgrade equipment with more energy efficient versions.

– Min amount = £3,000– Max amount = £100,000

• Eligibility– Private sector– Trading for at least 12 months– SME (<250 employees, <£50m turnover)– Larger organisations not in CRC.

• SALIX– Description: Interest free funding to

accelerate investment in energy efficiency technologies across the UK public sector.

– Example: 8%-15% of utility spend.– Eligibility:

• Public Sector• Low carbon technology• Fund dependent upon history of energy

management and utility spend.

Feed in Tariffs

• Feed-In Tariffs are payments to ordinary energy users for renewable electricity they generate (up to 5 Mega Watts)

• Payments:– Payment made for all electricity generated by

the system. (Generation tariff)– Payment made for electricity exported to the

grid. (Export tariff)– Payments in addition to bill savings gained.

Other incentives• Enhanced Capital Allowances

– Enhanced Capital Allowances (ECAs) enable a business to claim 100% first-year capital allowances on their spending on qualifying plant and machinery.

– Energy Technology Product List– As a business you can claim tax allowances, called

capital allowances, on certain purchases or investments. This means you can deduct a proportion of these costs from your taxable profits and reduce your tax bill.
