How to Networkby FitSmallBusiness.com
Your networking goal....
To Develop ongoing relationships with people you have mutual
business interests with.
How to Do it
Know who you want to meet.
Focus on people who are connected to lots of your
potential customers.
A nutritionist may want to network with Dr.’s, Personal
Trainers, and School Counselors.
Example
Are there people who provide a product or service that is
purchased prior to or simultaneously with yours?
RealtorExample
Mortgage BrokerInsurance Agent
Movers
Linkedin can help you identify the
right people.
Next is the approach
If you have a close mutual connection, ask for an
introduction.
You want to meet in person if possible.
If you don’t have a mutual connection look for events they
are likely to attend.
Local Chamber of CommerceBNI
Rotary Club Industry Events
Examples
Emailing them before the event and asking for 10 minutes is
the best approach.
Next is the meeting.
Keep your goals limited at first.
Examples1. Establish a connection.
(By looking for things you have in common)
2. Tell them about what you do.3. Ask them about what they do.
Within 2 or 3 days send a short email or a linked in invitation to
keep you fresh in their mind.
Within 1 or two weeks after that try to send them a referral for their
business.
Keep in touch every month or so, sending them an interesting article,
asking for some advice etc.
If they don’t return the favor then simply ask them if they know of
anyone looking for your product or service.
