3) Decide what you want other students to know, how you want to present the info, and how they will take notes.

History A. Empires-Rulers united many regions of Asia into an empire. -World’s earliest civilizations began in Asia.

- Why would a valley make a good place to
start a civilization?
Early Times C. Qin: -Kingdom that united China in 221 B.C. -Began construction of Great Wall.
- What is the purpose of the Great Wall?
- How does it compare to our defenses?
Early Times D. Dynasties: -Series of royal families that ruled China. -When one lost power another rose to lead.
Early TimesE. Indus River Valley:-Area where South Asia’s earliest culture came about. -Mohenjo-Daro: modern city with many comforts.
-What types of amenities do you think they had?
Early TimesF. Mauryas:-Dominated weaker Indian kingdoms and rose to power. -United them into one kingdom for 130 years.
- Do you think it is fair for a more powerful kingdom to take over a weaker one?
- How might this affect the weaker one?

Conquest and Colonies G. Mughals: -Invaders that united India as a new kingdom from 1500’s to 1700’s.
Conquest and Colonies H. Europeans:-Starting in 1400’s began to colonize much of Monsoon Asia. -Dutch, British, and French took over much of the area.
Modern Era I. Independence:- Most colonies
gained independence from Europe in 20th century.
Modern Era J. Japan: -One of the world’s leading industrial powers. -Major world superpower.
Modern Era L. South Korea,
Taiwan, and Singapore:
-Developed modern industrial
economies.
Modern Era M. Unequal Growth:-Developed unevenly. -Some live very well and others in poverty.

countries on earth.-3.7 billion people live in Monsoon
Asia.
Population O. Rural:-Most people still live in rural areas however this is slowly changing.
Population P. Overcrowding: -Large numbers of people are leaving the country for the city. -There is not enough room or jobs for them.
Population Q. Religion:-Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Islam, and local religions.
