Quality of WorklifeMeaning:- QWL involves the quality of

supervision , working conditions,pay and benefits and the nature of job.

“It is used to describe the broader job related experience an indivisual has.”

“Extent to which emloyees can enhance their personal lives through their work environment and experiences”

Definition of QWLAccording to J.Richard and J.Loy “the degree to

which members of a work organization are able to satisfy important personnel needs through their work experience in the organization”

Objectives of QWL

To understand the relationship between QWL and employee satisfaction.

To know the level of employee satisfaction.To know whether QWL leads to improved productivity of the

organization.To study whether QWL motivates the employees to learn further

for present and future roles

Concept of QWLIt basically talks about methods in which

organizations can ensure well being of an employee instead of focusing on work related aspects.

It is a fact an individual ‘s life can’t be compartmentized and any disturbance on the personal life front will affect his\her professional life and vise-versa.

Therefore organizations have stared to focus on the overall development and happiness of the employees and reducing his\her stress levels without disturbing the economic health of the company.

Job security of employees. Flexible work shedules. Job redesign to improve the quality of job by

providing an employee with a challenging work environment.

Opportunity for development.

Employee participation in management.

Approaches of QWL Autonomous workgroups are also called self-managed

work teams. where in employees are headed with no superior and each employee is free to make decisions pertaining to his work. The groups are held responsible for success and failures.

The principle of equitable justice should be applied in case of disciplinary actions, promotions , transfers.

Techniques for improving QWLAdequate and fair compensation:- “the wage which is

above the minimum wage and below the living wage”Safe and healthy working conditionsOpportunities to use and develop human capacities:-

achievements.Congenial superior-worker relationships ,which gives

the worker a sense of social association, belongingness, achievement of work results.
