CD RESEARCH

Some CDs that I have come across have the same font and titling of the album cover, which maintains the brand identify. I also realised that would also casue most of these types of CDs to be extremely minimalistic, this is unconventional as normally CD’s have more text on them than this one. I believe artists choose this especially to keep up with the style of the identity not being cluttered or busy. It makes the bands image very stylish and mysterious.

Some of the CD that I had come across are where the CD would have the same image as the front cover, with just the artist’s face or even a symbol which the artist is commonly known for. Although I wasn't able to find actually images of CDs covered with these, I remember seeing both Drake and Beyoncé’ previous CD’s having similar symbols to the ones of the right on their CD covers, as they represent both artists.

From finding out this, I came to a conclusion of using the artist’s name on the top of the CD image along with the album title across the bottom. The font choice of the artist’s name will be consistent with the front cover as well as the back cover. I feel as if this will give the audience the idea of this particular font reflecting the artists and so acts as a logo for her. Although with the digipak’s title, I would use the same front as the song titles. Since the colour behind the CD is black, I may decide to use a lighter colour such as dark grey with a black outline. Along with the writing of the album’s name having a white glow as an outline.
