Research

• I have created a questionnaire of radio questions and local radio questions, and asked about 10 people of different ages and genders. I made sure I asked a diversity of people, to get different and reliable results. I recorded my results in tables, to make it clear when reading the data.

Do you listen to Radio?

YesNo

I have created graphs to show the results of the questionnaire answers I have collected. As you can see, 7 people listen to radio compared with the low number of 3. This shows that radio is generally popular with the public, and that it appeals to a wide range of people. Firstly, I asked people if they listened to the radio. 7 people said yes, and 3 people said no. This shows that in general, people do spend time listening to the radio, and perhaps enjoy it. They could listen to the radio in their free time, or when doing something else like working, exercising or multitasking.

What stations do you listen to?

Radio 1Radio 2KerrangPlanet Rock

This graph shows what stations people listen to. I asked: what stations do you listen to? The highest common radio station was Radio 1 and 2, which 2 people each chose. This shows that these radio stations are the most popular out of everyone I asked. It might be because these radio stations are very well known and popular throughout the whole country, as they are national radio stations. It shows that they might be 'trendy' to listen to, because they play music that people like or have some sort of good entertainment like jokes, humour etc.

For another question, I asked how do you listen to the radio? The highest result was the a standard radio player, the most common  that people listen to the radio on, compared to a phone, laptop etc. This shows people mostly listen to the radio at home, or in the car, perhaps multitasking while working or driving to keep them entertained.

How do you listen?

RadioPhoneIpod/Laptop

For this question, I asked how do you listen to the radio? I got several different answers for this one. The most common was the standard type of radio, mostly found in your everyday lives and home. This shows that people spend time listening to the radio at home, and in their comfort of their everyday surroundings. Some people listen on their ipod/laptop which could be seen as very private, it suggests that they do it in their own free time, and possibly multitasking, doing homework etc, while doing so.

Why not? Prefer what?

ReadListen to music

I asked if you don’t listen to the radio, what do you prefer doing? I got 1 person saying that they like to read, whether that being reading magazines, the newspapers, or a good old fashioned novel. Listening to the radio doesn’t appeal to everyone and they might find it boring if the radio station is playing things that doesn’t appeal to the listeners. The other 2 people like to listen to music instead, which shows that they have their own preference of listening to music. They might like to be in control of what they want to listen to.
