beyond PEOPLE, SPACES & …

•• people perceive spatiality through their media

•• innovation turns space into TIME

#1. SCREEN = PREDICAMENT OF IDEALISM

we leave ourselves out (disembodiment)we reconstruct ourselves (digitembodiment)

#2. SCREEN = IDENTITY

networks are self-generative spaces

social structures: redefining identities & collectivities

spatial structures: simulations & abstractions

YES! we’ve gone from read-only to read-write!

#2. SCREEN = NETWORKS

IDEALISM TODAY = ECOSOPHY

resolve the tensions of innovations, ethics & designs

update design to:

1: relate infosphere & earth 2: design as filter (protect people + air)3: ethics is bottomline

- culture of idealism > screen as utopia

- the computer doesn’t just sit there IT DICTATES

- disembodiment > digitembodiment & immaterial

- times of augmented/distributed challenges

- re-embodiment > rematerial > AEROTOPIA

- beyond PEOPLE, SPACES & SCREENS

- SO “where/what next?” >> pragmatic idealism
