The Edward Cadbury Centre for the Public Understanding of Religion, at the Philosophy, Theology & Religion dept. at Birmingham University, is conducting a research study commissioned by the Church of England on how we can better support Minority Ethnic Christians in the Church of England. We hope to be able to achieve a nuanced understanding of what it means to belong and to participate in Christian fellowship, within and beyond the Church of England. Please participate in our research questionnaire yourself, and share it with your colleagues. We are hoping to have a significant sample from all 42 C of E dioceses in the country, as well as from the Roman Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, Episcopal, Pentecostal, Presbyterian/Church of Scotland, Church in Wales & Church of Ireland. Therefore, you do not have to be either minority ethnic, or even a part of the C of E, to participate in the study. In a research vacuum, we need a broader parameter of data to understand the conditions specific to the C of E, and therefore we need control samples to understand a nuanced picture, so participants need only be... Masters scholarship with London School of Theology

Youthscape and London School of Theology have launched a new scholarship for someone interested in doing a Masters in Theology. The Church needs theologically grounded research that is engaged with young people's real lives, and we are looking for someone who is curious about how the mission of God might engage with youth culture in 2019 and beyond. The MTh can be completed full-time over twelve months or part-time over two years. The starting date is expected to be in February 2020, though there is some flexibility. You need a 2:1 in your first degree to apply.

Introduction to Schools Ministry (ITSM) is Scripture

Union’s new course for those looking to develop skills and good practice in the schools context.

This is a hands-on course for mission-minded practitioners covering such key topics as collective worship, lunchtime and after-school clubs, lessons and sharing faith appropriately.

These two-day courses are suitable for those who work in Primary or Secondary schools and are running in several locations in the Autumn term. Find out more on our website

Speaking Volumes offers

grants for libraries, schools, prisons, care homes and churches – actually, anywhere a book can be borrowed and enjoyed by a wide readership. The grants are for the purchase of Christian books from a local Christian bookshop and the list of available books can be seen on www.speakingvolumes.org.uk. The next opportunity to apply is in September and you do so on that website. While funding is available for all sorts of libraries, the charity has been given extra funding specifically for PRISON LIBRARIES.

Family Systems: Managing a Big Anxious Family offers an introduction to Family Systems and how IMs might manage the dynamics of anxiety in parishes. The day will be led by The Bridgebuilders organisation and runs from 9.30 to 4.30.

The programme includes worship, presentation, personal reflection, group discussion and experiential exercises and will

• Explore how patterns of behaviour in families and churches are similar

• Understand better the systems of emotional forces that are at work

• Discover tools for charting the triggers of anxiety in church life

• Practise managing your own reactive behaviour

• Reflect on Jesus as a model of non-anxious leadership
