FOREWORD Peace for us all! This year, the Bandung Choral Society celebrates the 10th Bali International Choir Festival. This is a special moment for us in carrying out our mission to participate in advancing the choir in Indonesia and the world. After we canceled the 9th Bali International Choir Festival due to the COVID19 pandemic in 2020, we didn't want to lose the opportunity to do it this year. No one ever imagined this whole big world would be attacked by a small virus. All areas of life are affected by the COVID19 pandemic. This includes choir and singing activities. At first, we hoped that this dark and difficult situation would end soon, because actually preventing the spread of this virus is enough to wear masks, avoid crowds and wash hands frequently. But, who would have guessed that this super small virus infects millions of people and even takes the lives of those around us. Our way of life has to change in all aspects, we have to adapt in this difficult situation, those who don't want to change will find

a dead end or wait for the end of this Pandemic, while this COVID19 virus continues to mutate. The choir also had to change a few things to continue singing. Since schools, houses of worship and crowd centers are closed, everything must be done from home, so singing must also be done from home. Thanks technology is helping the singing community find a way to keep singing together on a new platform. And after most of the people received the vaccine, singing by observing the health protocols began to be carried out everywhere. The choir began to stir again, doing rehearsals and concerts in limited circumstances, and some continued to perform "online" and "virtually". Bandung Choral Society invites the Choir to continue singing activities through “The 10th BALI INTERNATIONAL CHOIR FESTIVAL 2021”, 1-5 December. This edition is online with an additional plan to open the opportunity to perform live in Bali if the situation in Bali and the world improves, and the permission to organize is given. We hope to continue our singing activities, practice, hold concerts and competitions. We all miss the time to sing together and meet the community that gives happiness and spirit for life. We provide various options to participate in “The 10th Bali International Choir Festival”. Please participate in the categories that match the group situation and interests of your Choir. I am sure that by joining this Festival, your Choir will discover the passion and pleasure of singing and performing with friends and the community. Let's keep singing. Keep it up and work! ACTIVITY A. REGISTRATION

Registration can only be done online by visiting the website https://bandungchoral.com/bicf10, all kind of registration documents which send to the committee must be uploaded via the online registration form on the website. Registration begins when the program book is published and will close on October 31, 2021

B. OPENING CEREMONY The 10th Bali International Choir Festival 2021 will start with an opening ceremony held on December 01, 2021 by introducing the Judges and Participants, accompanied by the showcase of a Special Virtual Choir Performance.

C. CHORAL WORKSHOP This workshop is open to participants and the public. With interesting topics with music experts to develop your Choir. This workshop will be held online. Information for registration can contact the Bandung Choral Society. All participants of the 10th Bali International Choir Festival 2021 are only allowed to send 1 representative to attend this workshop for FREE.

D. FRIENDSHIP CONCERT Your choir can join this program by showing a video performance of your Choir. The representatives will be asked to attend online meetings via Zoom, and be able to share stories about creating virtual choirs amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

E. COMPETITION This activity is open to all participants from Indonesia and International, for beginners as well as experienced ones. Participants who have registered will have the opportunity to show their performance through a well-packaged video.

• CHOIR COMPETITION This activity is open to all choir participants from all over Indonesia and even from abroad to be able to participate in the "Competition" round.

• CHOIR CHAMPIONSHIP a. This activity is for participants who already have experience and achievers. b. CHOIR COMPETITION participants who score 33 Gold Lv.4 can take part in

the CHOIR CHAMPIONSHIP round. c. Participants who have won a gold medal with a minimum total score of

84.00 in other choral competitions (Virtual or Non-Virtual) recognized by the committee can register in the Choir Championship by attaching a certificate of appreciation.

• VIRTUAL CHOIR This competition is specifically for participants who present a choir in the form of virtual video, and are allowed to edit video and audio in a creative and appropriate way.

• SOLO SINGING COMPETITION Open to all singers who wish to participate individually. Singers can come from Indonesia and from abroad and of various ages.

• GRANDPRIX OF CHAMPIONSHIP GrandPrix participants are the winners in each category of the CHAMPIONSHIP round. And the Judges will vote to determine the winner of the GRANDPRIX OF CHAMPIONSHIP.

F. MOST VIEWED VIDEO This activity is an award to the participants of the 10th Bali International Choir Festival 2021 if they get the most total viewers through a video that has been uploaded to Tommyanto Kandisaputra's YouTube. Voting will begin when the video is uploaded and premiered and will end on December 5, 2021, at 17.00 (GMT +7)

G. MEET THE JURY Participants will have the opportunity to meet one of the judges. Discuss, get input, and consult the performances. All choirs and solos can send representatives of 2 participants to take part in this activity. Meet the Jury duration is 5 minutes each.

H. SPECIAL JURY AWARD The jury will give a special award in the form of a Certificate for a solo singer, choir participant, conductor or accompanist who shows an outstanding performance, if any.

I. AWARDING & CLOSING CEREMONY The entire series of activities for the 10th Bali International Choir Festival 2021 will end with the announcement of the winners and the closing ceremony which will be held on December 5, 2021.

J. LIVE PERFORMANCE AT BALI We will offer this competition in September/October if the situation in Bali is getting better. All participants who have registered at the 10th Bali International Choir Festival 2021 (Online Edition) can transfer their participation by following the applicable regulations.

COMPETITION RULES A. GENERAL

1. 10th Bali International Choir Festival 2021 can be participated by all types of choirs from Indonesia and all over the world.

2. Please read carefully the conditions associated with each category; number of singers, age limit, duration of performance, number of songs, type of voice, type of song, and others.

3. The number of singers who are entered outside the specified age for each category is 10% of the total number of choir participants.

4. Performance accompanied by movements are allowed, but not mandatory. 5. All participants are allowed to join more than one category and can submit more than one

video for the same category.

B. SONG’S PROGRAM 1. The song program must be received by the committee no later than October 15, 2021 through

the online registration form. 2. All song programs performed MUST be approved by the Artistic team of the 10th Bali

International Choir Festival 2021. Unapproved song programs MUST be replaced immediately.

3. Participants who present a song program other than English, must submit information regarding the origin and description of the song in English.

4. Participants who participate in more than one category, must prepare a different song program in each category.

5. If the song program fits in another category, the committee reserves the right to change the selected category to another more suitable category.

6. The song program must be an original work for the choir, not a reduction from the orchestra.

C. MUSIC SCORE 1. Performances accompanied by musical instruments for the Musica Sacra category MUST be

listed in one sheet. 2. The score of the song must be in the form of musical notes, and in the form of a pdf file. (not

docx, jpg, jpeg, png). 3. MUST include a license to use the song from the composer/arranger and or proof of purchase

from the publisher of the chorus song (NOT RESELLER) with the purchase amount in accordance with the number of singers who will perform.

4. Each participant is responsible for the COPYRIGHT of the song sung; the committee is not responsible for the copyright of the song that is sung.

5. Participants are allowed to change the basic tone of the song that is already listed on the score, provided that they must write down the change in the basic tone on the score which will be submitted to the 10th Bali International Choir Festival 2021 committee signed by the composer/arranger.

D. PERFORMANCE TIME 1. Video duration is a maximum of 5 minutes 2. If the total duration exceeds the specified time, the total score will be deducted by a penalty

of 1 (one) point multiplied by the number of minutes elapsed.

E. EVALUATION 1. All participants' performances in 10th Bali International Choir Festival 2021 will be judged by

international judges who have a reputation in the world choir community

2. Assesment will be based on: i. INTONATION

Aspects of this assessment include the accuracy and consistency of the tone sung by the singer in accordance with the score of the song sung.

ii. SOUND QUALITY Aspects of this assessment include sound technique and all artistic aspects of the use of sound in the songs that are sung.

iii. FIDELITY TO THE SCORES AND INTERPRETATION The assessment aspect refers to the implementation of all musical marks in the score and bringing out all the artistic elements requested by the composer in the selected song.

iv. ARTISTIC OVERALL Aspects of this assessment include artistic presentation in choir performances both in terms of physical appearance, expression, and musical. And for virtual choir, the overall audio-visual processing will be assessed.

3. All participants will receive an award in the form of a Medal & Certificate in accordance with the final evaluation results obtained by grouping the Final Scores as follows:

EDITING TERMS OF VIDEO AND AUDIO 1. For Category A, B, C (except Video clip category)

a. VIDEO EDITING AND AUDIO EDITING IS NOT ALLOWED b. Video recording is allowed by using 1 camera from 1 angle. c. Record the audio with the separate device is allowed. (audio must take together with the

video recording at the same time) d. Please pay attention to the health protocols during the video recording. (distance, etc.) e. Participants is allowed to submit live recording video from previous/past events (any

events in 2019). 2. For category C05 (Solo Video Clip) and category D,

a. Allowed for editing in video and audio. b. Audio recordings used for category C05 (Video Clips) and category D, are individual

recordings that are preferred or in the studio, individually separately. c. It is forbidden to use recordings that have been made from previous concerts or

rehearsals, and or use recordings made together and simultaneously at the same time. d. We strongly recommend not to take MUSIC INTRUMENT or MINUS ONE from the internet

(especially from YouTube) because it will have an impact on publication results that are blocked from YouTube, and will also interfere with the ongoing live streaming.

3. If there is doubt from the jury regarding the making of audio and video recordings that violate the Health Protocol, the committee reserves the right to disqualify the participant.

4. Participants must be able to show proof of making audio and video in accordance with the above rules if required.

TIMELINE

1. Registration for participants for the 10th Bali International Choir Festival 2021 is open from the time this information book is published until October 31, 2021.

2. The deadline for collecting participant information and administrative and artistic documents is October 15, 2021.

3. The deadline for submitting performance videos for all categories is November 10, 2021 at 23.59 (GMT +7). (The participants are requested to arrange the flow in the process of making video and audio, so that later there will be no delays in the collection of performance videos).

4. Publication of the performance video will be held on December 1, 2021 at 12 (GMT +7) on TOMMYANTO KANDISAPUTRA YouTube.

5. Winners will be announced on 05 December 2021.
