The school re-opened on 7th

June 2017 after the summer vacation, the last summer was made

many complications. The children had heat blisters and many other heat related

complications, the temperature become high and high day by day. The water scarcity arisen

in every places. Many farmers are bring the water using tanker for agriculture.

Government Officer Visit

The District Differently Abled Welfare Officer visited our Learning Centre on 21st June. The

official visit made to inspect our Learning Centre & its activities towards the renewal of the

center under Person With Disabilities Act revised with RPD Act 2016, We already submitted

the proposal to the Government to requesting Food & Teachers salary grant for the current

year.

The officer visited each and every class and the activities of the Learning Centre, after

visiting our centre he said that the classes and the activities are well organized and easy

accessible to the children. He checked the quarterly evaluation reports, he said the goals and

activities of the children are well planned and the assessment is realistic. He encouraged all

the staff team members to proceed with the same good spirit.

Local Supporters

Mr. Rajesh & Priya are provided Rs. 500/- to provide stationeries to the children on 13th

June

2017.

On 22nd

June 2017 Mr. Anand & Uma provided one bag (25 kg) rice towards our children’s

food purposes to share the joy of their child’s birthday.

Mr. Suresh & Ramya provided snacks, sweets and 1 bag (25 kg) rice to our children on 29th

June.

On 3rd

July Mr. Thirupathy, Nochalur provided the Lunch, Sweets & Snacks to our children.

Mr. Pandurangan from Erumpoondi provided 1 bag (25 kg) rice on 18th

July towards our

children food.

Our well wisher corporate supporter ABAN Care – Chennai ensured support of Rs. 50,000/-

and we received it during last three months, it is a great support for us to manage the

temporary financial crisis. We are thanking the timely support and it is really helped a lot.

Building & Equipments Maintenance

To welcome the children after the summer vacation holidays the Learning Centre compound,

Buildings are cleaned and all the maintenance works are made. The benches and chairs are

painted, the classrooms are washed and made clean and neat.

New Goal

To enhance the children skill new Goal is prepared for Pre-Primary, Primary & Vocational

sessions. The goals will taught to the children for the period of three months, after three

months the progress and the learning by the children will be assessed by every step and the

next level goal and plan of action will be made by the evaluation.

Therapy Session

In our Learning Centre the Physiotherapist taking care of following children Shalini,

Archana, Murugan, Gokul, Perarasu, Padmesh, Vaishali, Arjun, Shanthi and Gokul Kannan

are getting the Physio therapy training, Karthik & Vignesh are using the hand splint daily.

Vocational Activities

The Children Karthik, Praveen, Manigandan, Purushothaman and Periaswamy are doing the

vocational activities producing Phenoyl, Ala (washing liquid), Blue regularly. They are

getting regular and routine training which makes them skilled in this production.

At present the staff team, parents and visitors are purchasing from our Learning Centre for

their own use, they all informing their friends and relatives to extend the marketing.

School Van Maintenance

The Annual Fitness Certificate works are progressed, the mechanical, electrical and other

maintenance works are made. The vehicle is painted completely, on 20th

June the Vehicle is

taken to the Regional Transport Office to obtain the annual Fitness certificate. During the

maintenance works a few days the children were taken by the Auto Rickshaw.

Parents Meeting

The first parents meeting of this academic year took place on 8th

July, in this meeting 27

Parents / Guardians are participated.

In this meeting we requested the parents to bear the school van running expenses as much as

they can able / possible.

We discussed about the UDID and its detailed information, this will help the parents to get an

idea about the Unique ID and which can help as a common ID like Aadhar for all the

schemes and Government procedures.

All the parents are advised / informed to send the children with full uniform.

Staff Meeting

The staff meeting took place on 8th

July, in this meeting the discussion were made about the

increment of the student strength up to 50 Nos.

Insisting parents to send the children wearing full uniform, to proceed with the works in the

Taluk Office.

To restore the local supporters contact the staff are advised to take the complete list of the

sponsors from the year 2008 to 2017 which can help to manage the crisis situation and

rejuvenate the sponsors contact.

Rainbow Life Children Home

New Admission

As soon as the new academic year ahead, many parents / relatives of the children in need of

care and protection of a children home are approached our home requesting admission for

their children. After various level discussions, verification of the appropriate documents,

enquiries the following children are considered and got admitted in our home.

In June 2017 four new children are joined in our Rainbow Life Children Home family, V.

Priya joined on 15th

June, K. Ammu joined on 21st June and J. Sushmitha & J. Sanjay joined

on 30th

June in our family.

Summer Holidays – Children Home Visit

On 11th

May 2017, Annamalai. A father came and express that he would like to take his son

for the summer vacation holidays with him, considered the father and the boy’s willing he is

permitted to go for the summer vacation holidays.

Mr. Venkataraman – Iyyappan’s father came and took him for summer vacation holidays

from 12 – 25th

May 2017.

Kesavan’s Grand Mother Mrs. Devi took him for the summer vacation holidays from 16th

25th

May 2017.

J. Mohan’s Aunty Mrs. Kullammal took him for the summer vacation holidays from 17th

to

28th

June

V. Manigandan’s mother Nadhiya came on 17th

May and took him for summer vacation

holidays upto 23rd

May.

J. Monisha went to the summer vacation holidays with her aunt Kullammal from 17th

– 29th

May 2017.

M. Sathya & Soundharya’s aunty Chettammal took them from 18th

May 2017.

The child S. Surya’s grandfather passed away on 1st June 2017, due to this went to the home

town on 1st June and came back on the same day evening.

E. Silambarasan’s grand mother took him to the home town to visit his sick grandmother on

4th

June, on the same day evening he came back.

On 8th

July Girl Ammu got giddiness while she is in the school, immediately admitted in the

Government Hospital. As the doctors are requested for the parent/relatives presence we made

arrangements with her Grannie. All the necessary medical investigation are taken and

necessary treatment provided to her.

As soon as she got discharge from the hospital, her grannie requested that she want to take

care of her granddaughter for some days. Considering the health of the girl and the relatives’

attention the girl Ammu sent along with the grandmother from 15th

July 2017.

Government Scholarship

During last academic years the children were submitted the necessary documents in the

school to obtain scholarship from the Government as available (Community Category). On

28th

June the children S. Saravanan, P. Rajeswari, S. Surya, P. Parameswari are received Rs.

2,250/- each in their bank account.

On 28th

June Boy Arul Kumar studying in Diploma Civil Engineering obtained the

scholarship Rs. 1,770/- in his bank account.

Local Contribution

Mr. Gnanasekaran provided Breakfast and Dinner on 2nd

May 2017 towards his birthday

celebration.

On 2nd

May, Mr. P. Prakash provided biscuits to all the children

Mr. Venkatesan provided lunch to all our Rainbow Life Children on 3rd

June, Mr. Harihara Barathy celebrated his birthday with cake distribution to the

children

Mr. Jegan provided stationeries (Blue Pen, Black Pen, Red Pen) to the children on 15th

Mr. Chandrasekaran, Yoga Activist provided lunch on 21th June 2017 towards the world

Yoga Day.

On 24th

June 2017 Mr. Mithun provided sweets and Ink Pen to all our children for sharing his

birthday joy.

Mr. Kasinathan provided dinner for our children on 30th

June 2017 towards his birthday.

On 1st July the Rotary Club of Moon city provided 25 kg rice and 10 kg Toor Dhall for the

children food preparation purposes.

children.

On 21st July 2017, Mr. Jegan provided the dinner for all our children

S. Saravanan attended the professional vocational course counselling in Tiruvannamalai

Government Industrial Training Institute on 23rd

June, he got a chance and admission in

Jamunamarathur Industrial Training Institute. The course will be commencing from 1st

August.

Vignesh attended the special re-exam on 28th

& 29th

All the children school re-opened on 7th

June 2017 and all the children are very happy and

stepped into their next classes, during the new academic year the children are provided with

new School Uniforms, School Bags, Note Books, Pens, Pencils, Eraser and all other

Stationeries.

Year classes Diploma in Civil Engineering college is re-opened on 12th

June.

Our children were studied in Srinivas Higher School during last academic year, due to the

long distance and transportation problem the children’s schools were changed during this

academic year. The girl children 10 are got admitted in the Government Girls Higher

Secondary School and the 6 Boys got admitted in the Government School (Thiagi N.

Annamalai Pillais Government Higher Secondary School).

The newly admitted children J. Sashmitha got admitted in 4th

Standard & J. Sanjay got

admitted in 3rd

Standard in Government Middle School, Vengikkal.

Lourdhu Priya completed her 12th

Standard (schooling), had discussion with her regarding

her higher education (university / vocational / professional / etc.,) she opted the same course

which Ramesh is studying. She opted to study the course Diploma in Special Education,

because this course is for the period of two years, after completion of this course plenty of job

opportunity available, after this she can plan for the higher education according to her ability

and opportunities.

Venkatesh is studying in the Industrial Training Centre in MMV course, the 4th

semester

examination fee Rs. 3,300/- remitted

The boy Ramesh completed his 2 years professional

Diploma Course in Special Education. His

examinations are took place from 19th

July to 27th

July 2017. He got the course completion certificate

from the institute. At percent he working HLC

centre spl educator with 5000/- basic salary

Health

On 1st July the boy Ayyappan got fever for which the needed treatment provided with Dr.

Siva Shanmugam.

J. Sashmitha had fever on 7th

July and treated by Dr. Siva Shanmugam

Lourdhupriya got fever for which treated by Dr. Siva Shanmugam and necessary medication

provided to her on 11th

July

On 17th

July, V. Priya got fever treatment done by Dr. Siva Shanmugam

Vignesh ailed with fever and treated with Dr. Sivashanmugam on 19th

July 2017.

On 21st July, S. Saravanan got affected with fever and treated with Dr. Siva Shanmugam

The girl Ammu got affected with epileptic convulsion in the school on 8th

July 2017,

immediately she got admitted in the Government Hospital. The needed medical investigation

and medical treatment took place, the grand mother taken care her during her hospital stay.

After all the treatment the girl is discharged from the hospital on 15th

July 2017,

Repair & Maintenance

In Tiruvannamalai the ground water level is gone down due to the lack of rain, particularly in

the areas of Vengikkal, due to this a huge water scarcity is arising, many houses around our

home are deepen their bore well, some of them are purchasing water from outside. During

our experience what we faced is that the bore well in our home is reducing the output water

and the level gone down. Due to this the water pumping motor has to pull from deep and it

has to run many hours to fulfill our requirement. Some time the motor is running out of the

water which results that the motor winding is spoilt.

In our Boys home the water pumping motor got repaired on 2nd

May, immediately it made

ready and start to pump water. The girls home submersible motor winding coil got repair and

it made ready for use immediately.

After this also the water scarcity continued, then we found that the borewell in the girls home

has no sufficient water, we faced a lot of difficulties to manage the water scarcity because we

have huge number of family members in our house and also the children’s food preparation

and main access is in the girls home. So immediately borewell is made on 2nd

June 2017, a

new motor is installed and the water scarcity is managed to a certain level.

The computer in the girls home got infected with viruses, immediately the computer is

protected by Anti Virus protection software on 12th

May 2017.

The girls home repaired electrical point made ready and the fused tube lights are replaced on

6th

May, again on 30th

June the lighting of the bathroom is replaced

The Bicycles using by the children (school & other purposes) are repaired and the tyres and

tubes are replaced for running condition for welcoming the new academic year.

The electrical maintenance in Boy Home & Girls Home took place on 3rd

& 17th

July, the

fused lights are replaced, the fan is replaced.

The water purification system in girls home is maintained for the regular routine supply of

the purified water for the children, the filters are replaced on 13th

July.

The Bi-cycles are maintained and the tyre tubes are replaced as per the need on 19th

July.

OUTING

On 5th

May the children are taken to the Children’s Park in Tiruvannamalai, the volunteers

Ms. Iliana, Caroline, Robbin are also accompanied along with the children. The children are

enjoyed the children’s park visit along with the volunteers, they also visited the

Ramanashram and nearby places.

The volunteers Ms.Caroline Parents sponsored for a one day picnic, on 8th

May 2017, the

children are taken to Pondicherry picnic spots – Sea Shore, Gandhi Park, Manakula Vinayaga

Temple, Anjaneya Temple. The children are enjoyed much and they had a good vacation, the

expenses for the trip is borne by the Volunteers.

Also they send the Gift items’ (toys, Key chain and sweet’s ) to rainbow children

On 9th

May 2017 a special pooja is organized in the temple located in the Hariksha Learning

Centre, Avalurpet campus. All the children are participated in this pooja, the children are

stayed over there one day and they had a good time there. They experienced different

spiritual experiences.

On 20th

May 2017 the children were taken to the Pogo Land (Fun Water theme park located

in Pondicherry). The children are very much happy, the children are very much enjoyed the

water games, they played in the swimming pool, waterfalls, water floating games and all the

games in the theme park. It gives a great let out for the children, they had a great relaxation

during the summer vacation, they enjoyed the vacation holidays with joy and happiness.

Celebration

The volunteer Ms. Coralie celebrated her birthday with all the children on 5th

May 2017, the

birthday is celebrated with cake, sweets distribution to the children. She felt very happy to be

with the children and enjoyed the celebration. Her mother sent toys to present it to the

children by courier and it reached on 19th

May, 2017. She distributed to our children and the

children are very happy and thanked her.

The children are given the sent off party to the volunteers on 24th

May, it is organized with

cake and special food. With good memory the volunteers are went back to their home town

on 25th

May 2017.

Short Term Training to Children

A Society which offers Yoga and Natural remedies organized a training for our children from

22nd

– 28th

May 2017. The children above in the age group of 14 years are the participants of

this training and the session is took 2 hours (7-9 am.,) in the morning. The children are

taught with various Yoga and natural food and remedies, they were practicing it in the

evening hours. The participant children are awarded with certificate and a special lunch is

organized on 28th

May 2017.

Government Liaison

The newly admitted children information and the children restored with the parents are

conveyed to Child Welfare Committee (as per the norms) on 21th July 2017.

July the Home Management Committee meeting took place, the representative of

District Child Protection Office, Mr. Nagarajan, Protection Officer (Institution) facilitated

and other all the members are attended the meeting and discussion were made about the

Rainbow Life Children Home activities and routine.

Home for Adult Mentally Retarded Women

New Admission

A girl named Kanchana, aged 13 years got admitted in our Home on 23rd

June, she is

mentally retarded with 50% disability. She is from Sorathur Village. Her father is

Kasimuthu & mother is Meenakshi.

Health Information

The girl Muniammal had vomiting for which consulted in the Government Hospital, Gingee

on 10th

June

Nilavarasi consulted with the Government Hospital on 14th

June 2017 for the continues cold

& coughing, the necessary medication provided to her.

Anitha had the cold & coughing for which treated with the Government Hospital on 14th

June.

Pavithra is treated in the Surya Children & General Hospital on 12th

July for Fever &

coughing

Nithya is treated in the Government Hospital for the vomiting on 12th

July

Government Visit

The District Differently Abled Welfare Officer, Villupuram visited our centre on 6th

June

2017. The visit is the inspection of our home under the RPD Act – 2016. During his visit

had interaction with each and every child in the home, he enquired each and every girl about

the food, facilities, etc., He appreciated the girls for their vocational skills and their talents.

He encouraged the girls to learn many more things.

Local Contribution

On 13th

of May 2017 Mr. Mohan provided 25 packs of biscuits to all the girls to share the joy

of the job appointment of his daughter.

Mr. P. Selvam provided the Lunch to all the girls on 14th

May to celebrate his son’s birthday

with our girls.

Mrs. Saratha provided lunch to our girls on 19th

May towards the memory of her son’s 4th

memory day.

On 21st May, Mr. K. S. Gopikannan provided the breakfast to all the girls to share the joy of

his mother’s birthday.

The girl Sangeetha’s parents provided lunch to celebrate their 50 years of Marriage life on

Gingee Pandian Hotel provided Dinner to our girls on 12th

July

Mr. Rajendiran started a new hotel in Gingee, towards the inauguration he provided night

dinner to our girls on 23rd

July.

Vocational Activities

During the first week the girls Subasree, Nithay, Rohini, Ranjani, Seetha, Vinitha and Anitha

are learned to make flowers using chart. During the 2nd

week the girls are learned to make

the flowers using the thread. During the third week the girls are learned to joined the flowers

and make the decorative hangers for the threshold. During the 4th

week the girls are learned

to make a simple stitches using the chart and they also learned to make the cutting using the

chart paper.

During June month the girls are trained for making hand stitching using a small cloth and

repeatedly they are trained for making the flowers and making the flower garland for the

entrances.

During July month the girls are learned to do the wire basket, the first week the trainer taught

the girls how to start and with full assistance from third week the girls are very fast and grasp

easily and they started to make it independently.

Field Visit

As guided by the District Differently Abled Welfare Officer, Villupuram we made filed visits

to the villages to provide the information about our Hariksha Adult Girls Home located in

Gingee. On 2nd

May 2017 the staff team visited Nayambadi, Alampoondi villages, on 3rd

May the team members visited Ananthapuram, Vadikal, Mazhavanthangal, Alampoondi

Villages. On 4th

May the team visited to Rettanai, Theevanur, Modaiyur, Kambandur.

On 5th

May the team visited to the houses of the girls Subalakshmi, Buvaneswari, the parents

already enquired about the admission and its procedures. As a follow up and know the

updated status the team members visited and had discussions.

6th

May the team members visited Kanakankuppam, Alampoondi and on 12th

May the team

members visited Semmedu, Puliyapattu Villages.

Maintenance

The periodical electrical repairs & replacement works are completed, 2 new bulbs replace, 2

new fan replaced and other maintenance works done.
