70th Celebration Saturday, Oct 7th 5:00 to 8:00 PM

Inman Community Building Gift Day

Estates Activities

October 2017 East View Villa and

Hello and Greetings to our friends in the Estates and East View Villa! Wow-September was warmer than usual and dry! October is set to be a busy month. School is in full swing so please watch for the kids when you are out and about on the roads. Important dates to remember as you are writing on your calendars - October 7 at the Inman Community Building is our 70th Anniversary starting at 5pm. We have changed our Annual Gift Day to October 20 in the Estates area so be ready to bid at our silent and regular auctions as well as eat lots of good food. During the month of October, we will get to enjoy Steve Epp and his group for our monthly program which will be October 10 at 7pm in the Chapel. Other events will be the Longeneckers, Painting Pumpkins with Home Health, and Hoffnungsau Mission Supper. As always we will have our regular schedule of Exercises, Bingo, Wednesday Game Nights, Bible Study, Chapel on Thursdays, and Ice Cream on Fridays. 3rd Wednesday evening special on Game Night will be Pizza and Salad. And as always watch for flyers of upcoming events that aren’t listed on the calendar. A quick look back at the months activities before we move into next month—We took a Breakfast trip to Village Inn with a Wal-Mart shopping trip. Watermelon and Crullers was our Tuesday night program and we ate lots. We took a trip to the State Fair and seen daring acrobats. Sante Fe Days were downtown Inman with lots of activities for all. We had our first in house Garage Sale to help fund Estate Projects. We had birthday celebrations for our September birthday residents during our ice cream socials on Friday. We look forward to all that is in store in for us in October.

Chaplain’s Article Pleasant View News October 2017 Issue

Hebrews 11:26 New Living Translation

When God spoke from Mount Sinai His voice shook the earth; but now He makes another promise: “once again I will shake not only the earth, but the heavens also.” This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed so that only unshakable things will remain. Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worship-ing Him with holy fear and awe. A few days ago we received this message from a missionary ac-quaintance who has lived in a town southwest of Mexico City. He told us quite briefly, “We are fine. Worst earthquake that we have felt. House is fine; but glassware items fell and broke. We don’t have lights or internet.” This couple has lived in this location over 30 years, which happened to be near the epicenter of a massive earthquake. Tragic events like earthquakes, hurricanes, or tornadoes are like “wake-up calls.” They are rude “wake-up calls;” and they do get our atten-tion. God warns mankind that as bad as these events are, even worse ones are divinely scheduled in the last days, prior to the glorious return of the Son of God. The proper response of truly humbled people is twofold: 1) “Be thankful.” Thank God for life, that He is protecting you, and for the many blessings in life. 2) Seek to “please God.” Make it your aim in life to bring honor to the Lord’s name in everything you. Those ministering in the 6:30 P.M. Thursday Chapel Services in October include the following: 1) October 5, Chaplain Dave will be speaking on the topic “The Discover-

ies Martin Luther Made;” 2) October 12, Zoar Mennonite Church; 3) October 19, Zion Church of God in Christ Mennonite Church; and 4) October 26, Inman Mennonite Church. In keeping with World Communion Sunday, October 8, the Inman Ministerial Association will be serving Communion at Pleasant View Home on Thursday, October 5 at 3:00 P.M. in Heritage Inn and at 3:20 P.M. in the Main Dining Room. We are saddened when our Pleasant View friends pass away; and we pray for God’s comfort and the encouragement from His Word to be re-ceived by family members left behind. Those who have passed on recently include Louette Shumway on August 30, Gerald Kaufman on August 30,

MIGHTY HAND

I walked in the woods one day In the cool and early spring

And everywhere I looked that day I saw new life in everything.

The creatures on the ground scamp’ed round The birds did sing for me. I stepped into a clearing

And heard the buzzing of a bee. I saw new blossoms on the tree

As I walked where few had trod And when I reached to touch the bloom

I touched the mighty hand of God

Cottonwood Corner 2017

Calendar Subject to

Cottonwood Corner September came and we had Fall/Summer activities to do all month!

Amalia likes the small puppy that was brought in several times. We also put our “willing” residents to work to enjoy the delicious corn on the cob they had that day for lunch! Wib and Marcella, Ken did a great job and we all ate it! A definite high-light of September was visit-

ing the Dyck Arboretum. We had not been there for many, many years and it was so beautiful! There were hundreds

of butterflys and the native plants were so big and thriving in Kansas! The guide was very informative and told us many interesting facts about the differ-ent grasses etc. We enjoyed pizza at Pizza Hut afterwards which completed

Becky Burkholder, SSD [email protected]

a perfect day. The first Graders have ar-rived and had fun trying to beat us in a game while we all enjoyed ice cream! The rest of the News-letter is dedicated to the Kansas State Fair fun that we had! Hope you enjoy the pictures as

much as we had fun being there! Thank you to all the families that went with us and spent the day with their loved one!! Wilbur Neufeld do-

nated a beau-tiful patriotic quilt to PVH and we have it on permanent display!

Plaza Calendar The Plaza

September was a hard month as Plaza had to say a heartfelt good-bye to Gerald Kauffman, John Click, and to Cecelia Vance as they went to their forever home in Plaza. They will be greatly missed. We had to miss the Kansas State Fair as I had to have an unexpected and unplanned knee surgery. The staff here dressed up as clowns and had fun games and activities for them and they had a picnic of fried chicken with all the trimmings. A special thank-you to Kat Jennings, Cassandra Spohn, Alecia Wiens, Bonnie Gilzinger, and Haley Heidebrecht for making their day extra special . You guys are too cool for words. Our garden has been producing a lot of vegetables and we enjoyed making fried tomatoes and fried eggplant. We welcomed Jaime Ediger R.N. and Kalea Minor C.N.A. to our Plaza Family. and welcomed back Chris McClelland to our family. Our Take– Out Tuesdays will be on October 10th and the 24th. We will have some fun things planned for Halloween with a special fun dinner that night. We welcome Trick or Treaters to our Neighborhood but would prefer they come between 4 pm and 7pm as our Elders start winding down around then.

31 Heritage Inn

Heritage Inn Hello Residents and Families and Staff! We had a fun filled month with all sorts of activities from going on. We went to the Kansas State Fair on the 13th of Sep-tember. We had a blast! It was great seeing all the families and staff members and volunteers come out and take the residents to fair. Thank you for all your help! And we painted rocks for Inman Rocks and had some members of the community hide them for us. The cosmosphere was a fun trip, we watched a short film on airplanes an ate at Rib Crib. I can’t wait until see what next month has in store for us! Remember

PVH 70TH Birthday party is 0ctober 7th.

Ivy Grove & Rapid Recovery

We have a wonderful group of people who enjoy each others com-pany and playing cards. Here is Olive and Betty playing Skip Bo . How many of you re-member shucking corn? Its amazing how some-thing so simple can bring back such heartfelt memories. Maxine and Edna thought it was amazing how much strength you need to do this! They felt it was much easier when they were younger! We took a trip to the Dyck Arboretum in Hesston and got attacked by a herd of But-terflies. It was beautiful!

There were so many plants in bloom that at-tract butterflies. It was the perfect time to be

there. Inman 1st graders came for a visit and we all played a game. So much fun! Look forward to seeing them again next month. Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
