4.12.8 More

This screen allows various functions to be setup.

4.12.8.1 Decoder

Settings for the decoder may be selected with function.

4.12.8.2 AGC

The automatic gain control (AGC) function examines the input sync level and adjusts the luminance and chrominance gain to compensate for overall signal level attenuation. Check this control when the input video signal levels are low and automatic correction is desired.

4.12.8.3 ACC

The automatic color gain control (ACC) function examines the input burst amplitude and adjusts chrominance gain to compensate for chroma level attenuation. Check this control when chroma levels are low compared to luminance. This may occur when using YC installations or composite from RF links.

4.12.8.4 CTI

The chroma transient improvement (CTI) control examines the input video data. It detects transitions of chroma and enhances chroma edges in order to artificially restore lost color bandwidth. Use this function when the input video has chroma bandwidth limitations.

4.12.8.5 Decoder NR:

The digital noise reduction is based on the assumption that high frequency signals with low amplitude are probably noise and their removal improves picture quality. Improvements can be seen on most material so this function is on by default.

4.12.8.6 Comb Filter

The comb filter employs a 5-line adaptive 2Dcomb filter that separates chrominance and luminance when decoding a composite video signal. It adapts to the video standard and signal quality automatically. This control improves the decoder performance and should only be switched off if the operator needs to see the source through only a low pass filter.

4.12.8.7 Encoder

This allows the type filtering for the luminance signal of the encoder to be selected.

4.12.8.8 Default Output

When the input signal is lost this allows a signal to be chosen to become the output signal.

• Adaptive recursive Noise Reduction with automatic noise level detection

• 12-bit decoding with 5-line comb filter

• 12-bit encoding

• Inputs PAL, NTSC, NTSC-J, NTSC4.4, PAL-N, PAL-M, SECAM with automatic input detection

• Outputs PAL, NTSC, NTSC-J, PAL-N, PAL-M

• 4 channel (2 pair) embedded audio processing

• Seamless PCM audio tracking delay with manual offset – up to 2.5s

• Pass through for all HANC/VANC data

• Composite inputs tolerant to noise and errors

• Unique genlock 'Floating mode*'

• RollCall compatible via USB link

• Optional external PSU for redundancy

* Floating Mode - Without a reference the output will either free-run or lock to a stabilized input sync if operating in synchronize mode. In this stabilized or ‘floating mode’ the output will always follow shortly after the input, so preventing lip-sync errors and frame drop / repeat. The inputs are highly tolerant to unstable and noisy sources, while the synchronizer always creates correctly aligned images, even during sync disturbances and asynchronous input switches.

5.12 TBS190UD SDI and Composite Synchronizer

Broadcast quality synchronizer and time base stabilizer with AES and embedded audio

The TBS190UD is a multi-standard broadcast quality synchronizer, noise reducer and time base stabilizer with SDI, composite and YC interfaces. Embedded audio is processed as well as providing unbalanced AES audio interfaces. Featuring 12-bit sampling, 10-bit processing and rugged inputs, the TBS190UD is equally suited to digitizing broadcast grade sources as with unstable, noisy sources.

5.12.1 Features

• SDI, Composite and YC Synchronization

• Time base stabilization

5.12.2 Applications

• Universal Analog / Digital interface

• Audio embedding and extraction

• Satellite down-link and radio links

• Ingest / PC capture pre-processing

• Duplication

• VHS dubbing

• Format conversion
