When Germany attacked Poland in 1939, Britain was forced to react

Germany had not only broke the provisions of the Treaty of Versailles, but the Munich Agreement as well

As the world leader in 1939, Britain stepped in to stop Hitler’s aggression

THE ALLIES: GREAT BRITAIN

Trained as a driver and mechanic during the Second World War

At the time she was only a princess and had to beg her father to let her join the War

Recently, this tradition has been carried on by Prince Harry

The United States did not join the Second World War until December 7, 1941

Why? Pearl Harbour, USA was left

with no choice after being directly attacked

Even before this however Franklin D Roosevelt was in favour of War

He supported Britain with a number of weapons and vehicles

THE ALLIES: THE UNITED STATES

The Soviet Union were originally allies with the Nazis until Hitler surprise attacked them on June 22, 1941

Stalin originally did not believe the betrayal as he felt Hitler was the only man he ever trusted

Stalin would immediately join the Allies and do everything in his power to crush the Nazis

THE ALLIES: THE SOVIET UNION

THE AXIS

Japan had begun its war as early as 1937 when it attacked China

On September 27, 1940, Japan would sign the Tripartite Pact

This would guarantee that Japan, Italy, and Germany would assist each other with political, military, and economic means

THE AXIS: JAPAN

On May 22, 1939, Italy and Germany signed the Pact of Steel

This Pact guaranteed the two countries would help each other in military and political means

Italy wished to join the Nazis in a hope to gain more land and in turn more money

THE AXIS: ITALY

Germany had two main goals in World War Two:

Lebensraum or “living space Hitler wished to not only

take back the land Germany lost in WW2, but gain more fore Germans to live in

The Final Solution Hitler blamed the decay of

man on the Jews and wished to get every last one out of Europe

THE AXIS: GERMANY
