Festivals of India etc.: Festival of India in China (circuit 2) was organized

from 27th June-22nd July 2014 in Beijing . Circuit 3 began from 22nd August 2014.

Festivals are also being organised in Japan & Indonesia

Festival of India in South Africa organized from 18th July – 31st August 2014.

SAARC Culture Minister’s Meeting to be held in New Delhi from 24-25th September 2014, with SAARC traditional dance festival. 6

World Heritage: Rani ki Vav, a step well in Gujarat and Great

Himalayan National Park in Himachal Pradesh have been inscribed on the World Heritage list of UNESCO in June 2014 at the 38th Session of the World Heritage Committee.

Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) also to be given focus - Yoga to be proposed for inscription in - 2016.

India has been elected to the Inter-Govermental Committee for the safeguarding of ICH, for the period 2014-18 in a vote at UNESCO headquarters. It was a resounding victory of 135 votes against a total of 142 votes cast.

Promoting India’s Soft Power 4Project MAUSAM:

Maritime Routes and Cultural Landscapes has been launched in June 2014 at the 38th Session of the World Heritage Committee.

Digitization: Digital collection of 9540 images from ten selected

museums have been transferred to Digital Repository at C-DAC , Pune.

The Website (museumsofindia.gov.in) is ready for launch.

1,12,500 entries pertaining to documentation of antiquities from various museums/Documentation Resource Centres have been uploaded on the website of National Mission on Monuments and Antiquities.

Digitization of archives has been taken up on priority as part of critical area projects for appraisal/transfer of files.

To improve record management practices across ministries, 2000 officials have been trained by the National Archives of India, across 20 major Ministries.

E-Governance: Software for online processing of

applications/utilization certificates has been developed.

Mobile App is being launched.

Website of the Ministry has been revamped.

Rs.100 crores have been allocated for the preservation of Archaeological Sites in the Budget 2014-15.

Restoration work of Pashupati Nath Temple, Kathmandu, Nepal is being taken by ASI at an estimated cost of Rs.25 crore.

The work of ASI at the Kedarnath Temple is going on.

E-ticketing facilities to be introduced at selected monuments.

Model MoU circulated to all State Government for improving tourist facilities around protected monuments.

Tourism plan for Agra.

Tourist circuits being developed to link Heritage Sites.

Other Achievements

Gandhi Peace Prize (2013) conferred on Shri C. P. Bhatt by Hon'ble President of India on 15th July 2014.

The problem of vacancies of head of organisations has been addressed. The selection process of posts such as DG, NAI; DG, NRLC; DG, AnSI; Directors of NGMA, IGRMS, RRLF, Salarjung Museum; CEO, NCF and Librarian, CRL have been initiated.

A High Power Committee has given recommendations on reform of Akademies, which is under implementation.

A 14 point museum up-gradation programme has been taken up.

National Implementation Committee for Komagata Maru incident and Birth Centenary of Begum Akhtar has been constituted. The inaugural functions will be on 29th September 2014 and on 7th October 2014 respectively.

125th Birth Anniversary of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru to be celebrated this year. Various projects have been sanctioned.

Statue of Unity- a statue of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel is to be constructed with provision of Rs. 200 crore in the Budget 2014-15.
