Shop Drawings: The term "shop drawings" includes the shop drawings and shop

drawing information such as descriptive literature, product data, illustrations, schedules, performance and test data, and similar information furnished by the Contractor to explain in detail specific portions of the Work as required by the various sections of these specifications.

B. Samples: The term "samples" includes a representative item, a representative

part of an item, or a mock-up, which is a representative assembly of items as required by the various sections of these specifications.

C. Miscellaneous Submittals are non-administrative submittals directly related to the

Work including warranties, guarantees, survey data and reports, quality testing and commissioning reports, and other similar information and materials as required by the various sections of these specifications, not defined as shop drawings or samples.

1.02 Transmittal Form A. A transmittal form shall be provided with each submittal. The Contractor shall

acceptance and shall provide spaces to indicate project; project date; "To:"; "From:"; names of subcontractors, suppliers, or manufacturers; required references; category and type of submittal; purpose; description; distribution record (for both transmittals and submittals); and signature of transmitter.

B. The Contractor shall provide certification on the form, stating that the information

submitted complies with the requirements of the Contract Documents and shall provide comparison table depicting the Materials Specifications and Project Specifications requirements.

1.03 Shop Drawing Submittals A. General: 1. The Contractor shall be responsible for the prompt and timely submittal of

all shop and working drawings so that there shall be no delay to the Work due to the absence of such drawings.

2 Within 15 calendar days of receipt of Notice to Proceed, submit a

schedule of shop drawing submittals to Saudi Aramco for acceptance. The schedule shall include the required Saudi Aramco review periods and shall indicate shop drawing submittals in the order of priority which reflects the logical sequence of construction activities and the Contract schedule.

3. The Contractor shall update and resubmit the schedule to Saudi Aramco

as required by any schedule changes. 4. Shop drawings shall be submitted for all items as required by the various

sections of these Specifications and all crossing utilities. 5. Shop drawing acceptance shall be obtained prior to execution of the work

detailed on such submittal. Any work done prior to such acceptance shall be at Contractor's risk.

6. If a shop drawing shows any deviation from the Contract requirements,

the Contractor shall make specific mention of the deviations in his letter of transmittal.

B. Shop Drawing Submittal Sheet: 1. The Contractor shall use the "Contractor Drawing Submittal Sheet" form

furnished by Saudi Aramco for all shop drawing submittals. 2. The Contractor shall maintain a file of all submittal sheets at the work site.

The file will be subject to Saudi Aramco review and shall be provided to Saudi Aramco at the time of project closeout.

1. Prior to submittal of shop drawings the Contractor shall coordinate and review the drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with contract requirements and shall indicate his approval thereon.

2. The Contractor shall stamp and sign each submittal with the statement

reading as follows: "Having checked this submittal, we certify that it conforms to the

requirements of the Contract Documents in all respects, except as otherwise indicated in the letter of transmittal."

3. All shop and working drawings shall be submitted to the Saudi Aramco

Representative by and/or through the Contractor, who shall be responsible for obtaining shop and working drawings prepared on Saudi Aramco standard size, (A, B, C, D and E) or metric equivalent sheets, except those which are made by changing existing standard shop or working drawings. All drawings shall be clearly marked with the names of the Saudi Aramco, Contractor, and facility, equipment, or structure to which the drawing applies, and shall be suitably numbered. Each shipment of drawings shall be accompanied by a letter of transmittal giving a list of the drawing numbers and the names mentioned above. The title block shall contain the same information as the Contract Documents for the description of the drawing content. The drawings shall be prepared in accordance with Saudi Aramco drafting standards. Drawing revision shall be indicated by numeral "0" for the initial issue and the next highest numeral for the subsequent revision. All drawings shall be stamped "Shop Drawing." The letter size shall be 25 mm x 15 mm m(height x width).

4. Two prints of the accepted shop drawings, not requiring resubmittal, will

be returned to Contractor. One print will be retained at the site by the Contractor as a record. The mylar reproducible and/or electronic copy will be retained by Saudi Aramco.

5. If the submitted shop drawings are not acceptable to Saudi Aramco, one

print will be returned to Contractor noting the areas requiring corrections and requesting resubmittal. Resubmittals of corrected shop drawings shall follow the same procedure as for the initial submittal and shall reference the original submittal and submittal number.

6. All work done prior to such acceptance shall be at the Contractor's own

risk. 7. The Contractor shall maintain at the work site a complete file of all

Submittals of materials other than drawings, such as literature, test data, catalog cuts, etc. shall follow the same procedure as specified for shop drawing submittals except all items shall be listed on "List of Submitted Materials". Four copies of the materials for review are required. In the case of catalog cuts, one copy shall be an original. For data submissions of materials, products or equipment, the manufacturer's name and country of origin shall be indicated for each item respectively on the "List of Submitted Materials" form. Contractor shall include a comparison table depicting the materials/equipment/items character-istics/specifications and project specifications requirements.

1.04 Sample Submittals A. Samples and sample sets shall be submitted marked, tagged, or otherwise

properly identified with the name of the Contractor, the manufacturer's name and country of origin and the date, and shall be accompanied by a letter of transmittal (in quadruplicate), together with the specification section number for identification of each item. Each tag or sticker shall have clear space for the stamps of the Contractor and Saudi Aramco. For submission containing two or more samples, Form "List of Submitted Materials" shall be used listing all samples of origin.

1. Where requested, or in case a considerable range of color, graining,

texture or other characteristics may be anticipated in finished products, a number of samples of the specified materials shall be furnished to indicate the full range of such characteristics which will be present in the finished products and shall be considered one sample set; any such products delivered or erected without submittal and acceptance of full range samples shall be subject to rejection.

2. Provide full sets of optional samples where Saudi Aramco selection is

required. 3. Prepare samples to match Saudi Aramco's sample where so indicated. B. Samples of materials which are generally furnished in containers bearing the

manufacturer's descriptive labels and printed application instructions shall, if not submitted in the standard containers, be supplied with such labels and application instructions.

C. Maintain the returned final set of samples at the work site in suitable condition and

available for quality control comparisons by Saudi Aramco. 1.05 Miscellaneous Submittals A. Inspection and Test Reports: Submit six (6) copies each where required by

technical specifications. B. Guarantees and Warranties: Furnish three (3) executed copies.

C. Survey Data: Furnish three (3) copies of survey data required by quantitative records of actual work, damage and settlement surveys, surveys of adjacent construction, and similar data.

1.06 Point of Delivery A. Deliver all shop drawings, samples, and miscellaneous submittals to Saudi

Aramco Representative. 1.07 Saudi Aramco's Review Comments on Shop Drawing and Sample Submittals A. Saudi Aramco's action with regard to shop drawings and catalog cuts are as

hereinafter specified. 1. Approved. a. Work may proceed. No changes or additions to the document are

required. b. The acceptance of shop drawings and samples is general, and

shall not be construed as: (1) Permitting any departure from the Contract requirements. (2) Relieving the Contractor of the responsibility for any errors

or omissions, including details, dimensions, and materials. (3) Permitting any departures from details furnished by Saudi

Aramco. 2. Revise and Resubmit: This comment requires correction and resubmittal

of the shop drawing or sample for approval prior to release of the drawing for construction.

Although the content of the submittal is in basic accord with the drawings

and specifications, technical or physical changes in the material or product are necessary to make it acceptable to or usable on the project. The document shall be corrected and resubmitted.

3. Approved as Noted: Content is in basic accord with the drawings and

specifications. Technical or physical changes in the material or product are necessary to make it acceptable to or usable on the project. The document shall be corrected and resubmitted. The qualifications pertaining to "Work May Proceed" apply.

4. Disapproved - Work May Not Proceed: Document content is not

acceptable as it is not in conformance with the drawings and specifications. The document must be corrected and resubmitted.

5. Until the necessary review has been made, the Contractor shall not proceed with any approved portion of the Work (such as the construction of foundations), the design or details of which are dependent upon the design or details of work, materials, equipment or other features for which review is required.

1.08 Released for Construction Drawings A. Following the technical review of the shop drawings, the Contractor shall make

the appropriate and applicable drawing corrections. Subsequently a "Released for Construction" sticker is affixed, duly signed by Saudi Aramco.

B. The Contractor shall follow the current Saudi Aramco Procedure "Control of

Construction Documents" regarding submittal and acceptance of drawings. C. After receiving signed "Released for Construction” sticker on each drawing, the

Contractor shall maintain the (1) set of "Released For Construction" drawings at the site office plus provide a minimum of 1 set of each print to Saudi Aramco and additional sets for the Contractor's field operations as required.

1.09 Purchase of Material A. No material or equipment shall be purchased or fabricated for the Contract until

the required shop and working drawings have been submitted as hereinabove provided and reviewed and approved by the Saudi Aramco Representative for conformance to the Contract requirements. All such materials and equipment and the work involved in their installation or incorporation into the Work shall then be as shown in and represented by the said drawings.
