D©n sè trung b×nh lμ sè l−îng d©n sè th−êng tró cña mét ®¬n vÞ l·nhthæ ®−îc tÝnh b×nh qu©n cho mét thêi kú nghiªn cøu nhÊt ®Þnh, th−êng lμ mét n¨m. Lao ®éng

Lùc l− îng lao ®éng hay cßn gäi lμ d©n sè ho¹t ®éng kinh tÕ, bao gåm

tÊt c¶ nh÷ng ng−êi tõ 15 tuæi trë lªn cã viÖc lμm vμ nh÷ng ng−êi thÊt

nghiÖp trong thêi gian quan s¸t.

s¸t vμ nh÷ng ng−êi tr−íc ®ã cã viÖc lμm nh−ng hiÖn ®ang nghØ t¹m thêi v×

dïng hai lo¹i tû lÖ thÊt nghiÖp: tû lÖ thÊt nghiÖp chung vμ tû lÖ thÊt nghiÖptheo ®é tuæi hay nhãm tuæi.

trong tuæi lao ®éng so víi tæng d©n sè.

Lao ®éng ngoμi ®é tuæi lμ nh÷ng ng−êi ch−a ®Õn hoÆc ®· qu¸ tuæi

lao ®éng theo quy ®Þnh cña LuËt Lao ®éng hiÖn hμnh nh−ng thùc tÕ vÉn

tham gia lao ®éng.

Lao ®éng lμm viÖc trong çc ngμnh kinh tÕ lμ nh÷ng ng−êi, trong

thêi gian quan s¸t, ®ang cã viÖc lμm trong çc c¬ së s¶n xuÊt, kinh doanh,

dÞch vô ®−îc nhËn tiÒn l−¬ng, tiÒn c«ng hoÆc lîi nhuËn b»ng tiÒn hay hiÖn

vËt hoÆc lμm çc c«ng viÖc s¶n xuÊt, kinh doanh ç thÓ, hé gia ®×nh, hoÆc

®· cã c«ng viÖc lμm nh−ng ®ang trong thêi gian t¹m nghØ viÖc vμ sÏ tiÕp tôc

Explanation of terminology, content and Methodologyof some statistical indicators on population and labour

Population Average population: is the average number of population of a

certain area in a certain period of time, usually a year. There arenumerous methods to calculate average population. Utilization of eachmethod depends on collected data and their accuracy. The followingformulate are used:

- If the population data are collected for a period of time, usually ayear, with assumption that the population changes regularly, averagepopulation is calculated as follows:

i: Order of the duration of time

ai: Length of time to which the average population iS is calculated;

iS : Average population in period "i".

refers to the population living in urban areasunder the jurisdiction.

• refers to the population living in rural areas underthe jurisdiction.

Population growth rate is a basic indicator reflecting the level of population increased or decreased during a year as the result of the naturalincrease or migration in comparison with average population in the year.

labour

Labor force or economically active population refers to persons aged15 and over including employed and unemployed persons during thepreference period.

• refer to those who, during the preference period,go to work and those had a job or business but are temporarily absentbecause of illness, strike, holiday, mechanical breakdown, bad weather orother reasons.

• refer to those who, during the preference period,do not work but are available for work and looking for job with payment,

including those who never have a job. Unemployed persons also embracethose who in the process of taking up a new job after the preference period,those who are dismissed without payment for unlimited time, and thosewho are inactive in looking for a job during preference period.

Unemployment rate refers to unemployed persons as a percentage of the total economically active population (labor force).

In practice, two types of unemployment rate are used, namely, generalunemployment rate and age-specific unemployment rate.

total economically active population.

• is a percentage of unemployedpersons of specific age or age group in total economically active populationin the same age or age group.

Labor force participation rate refers to percentage of totalemployed persons and unemployed persons of working age over totalpopulation of their working age.

Employed workers in working age refers to population of workingage, whose duties and interests are to work under the jurisdiction,

according to the current Labor Law.Proportion of population of working age is percentage of total

persons of working age over total population.

Number of employed workers out of working age refers to thosewho are under or over working age under the jurisdiction, according to thecurrent Labor Law but work actually.

Number of employed workers in economic units refers to thosewho, during reference period, work in businesses, manufacture and serviceestablishments for salary, wage and profit in cash or in kind or work in

individual and household businesses, or those who had a job or businessbut are temporarily absent because of illness, parturition, holiday,traveling, etc.. and continue their work after that.

Underemployed persons refer to those who, during the referenceweek, were defined as employed but actually worked less than 35 hoursand were willing and available to work more time.

• e is defined as the percentage of underemployed perons to the employed population.

• is defined as the percentage of underemployed perons in working age to the employed population inworking age.
