The TD42L is specifically designed for relatively small condensate loads and therefore is ideal for mains drainage applications. For process type loads the TD42H is available. For those applications where the release of air is a concern an anti- air binding disc is available. This version is designated by the letter A eg TD42LA and TD42HA. All traps have external body surfaces with an electroless nickel plate (ENP) finish which is both energy saving and oxidation resistant. Spare partsThe spare parts available are shown in heavy outline. Parts drawn inbroken line are not supplied as spares.

AVAILABLE SPAREDisc (Pkt of 3) (TD42 L or TD42 H) 3Disc and Strainer Screen (TD42 L or TD42 H) 3,4Strainer Screen (TD42 L or TD42 H) 4Insulating Cover 6

How to OrderAlways order spares by using the description given in the columnheaded Available Spare and stating the size and type of trap.

Example: 1 — Strainer Screen for ½" SPIRAX SARCO TD 42 LThermodynamic Steam Trap.

How to ServiceRemove insulating cover if fitted and unscrew cap using spanner.Do not use Stillsons or a wrench of similar type which may causedistortion of the cap.If the disc and body seating faces are only slightly worn they can berefaced by lapping individually on a flat surface such as a surfaceplate. A figure of eight motion and a little grinding compound givesthe best results. If the wear is too great to be rectified by simple lapping, the seatingfaces on the body must be ground flat and then lapped and the discreplaced by a new one. The total amount of metal removed in thisway should not exceed 0.25 mm (0.010").When re-assembling, the disc is normally placed in position with thegrooved side in contact with body seating face. Screw on cap; nogasket is required but a suitable high temperature anti-sieze greaseshould be applied to the threads.

To Clean or Replace StrainerUnscrew strainer cap using spanner, withdraw screen and clean, orif damaged replace with new one.To re-assemble, insert screen in cap, then screw cap into place. Nogasket is required but a fine smear of Molybdenum Disulphidegrease should be applied to the threads.
