Chapter Checklist Span 1001: GT Spanish I Online

This Chapter Checklist is your best friend. Print it out and keep it handy. I strongly suggest attaching it to your “work wall” where you can see it at a glance and literally check off items as you complete them. Intro Week: (9 days) Mon., August 18 – Tues., August 26 *Aug. 26 – End of Intro Week

1. _______ Join FB and request to join “GT Spanish Online FALL 2014” (a.k.a. “FBGT”)

at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/731519816910341/ Check this page

regularly for important information.

2. _______ Join iLrn. Use the iLrn Registration Instructions on FBGT to join iLrn. Join your iLrn class section according to your last name.

3. _______ *Read the Intro to iLrn information for instructions on all things iLrn: http://ilrn.heinle.com/iLrn_Students_Guide8-7-07.pdf

4. _______ Once in iLrn, you should see the course calendar right away. This is your

home page. At the top left there are 2 options: “View by Chapter” and “View by Date.” Use the “View by Date” option.

5. _______ In iLrn, locate and click on Share-It. Find the tab for VIDEO EXAM.

6. _______ In iLrn, locate and click on the Self-Test tab. Note the pre-test and post-test

options.

7. _______ Find your eBook and click on the question mark across the top. Go through the list on the left to learn how to use your eBook.

8. _______ For now, skim Chapter 1, pages 2-37.

9. _______ Go through chapter 1 and notice my highlights, notes, and links, etc., which

are all in blue. NOTE the little blue papers with clips and the blue circles with a chain link inside them.

10. _______ Nothing is due during drop/add week.

11. _______ Do the 2 assigned Intro Activities by Tuesday, Aug. 26th.

12. _______ Get in touch with your partner group (3 people). Follow FBGT for more

information.

Chapter 1: (2 weeks) August 25 – September 7 (Monday to Sunday) *Sep. 7 – Ch. 1 Sunday Wrap-Up

1. _______ Log onto FB. Check FBGT for announcements, etc. Remember to check this page several times a week for important information and any FBPs you may wish to do. (See syllabus for details.)

2. _______ Read: Chapter 1. eBook pages 2-37.

3. _______ Go through chapter and look at my highlights, notes, and links, etc., which are

all in blue. Be sure to click on the little blue papers with clips and the blue circles with a chain link inside them.

4. _______ Do Pronunciation & Vocab. Activities - due by first Thursday, 8-28

5. _______ Do Grammar Activities – due by first Sunday, 8-31

6. _______ Do Partner Activities – due by second Thursday, 9-4

7. _______ Do all other assigned activities – due by Sunday Wrap-Up (4 tries permitted.

Highest grades calculated.) *Note: There are MANY; I recommend doing a few each day.

8. _______ Take the Chapter 1 pre-test Self Test. This will generate a study guide according to your test performance. Review it.

9. _______ Take the Chapter 1 Benchmark Prueba (There is a 1-try, 45-minute time limit,

so study beforehand.) Due by Sunday Wrap-Up.

Chapter 2: (2 weeks) Sep. 8 – Sep. 21 *Sep. 21 – Ch. 2 Sunday Wrap-Up

*Upcoming Exam – Begin studying and prepare well. It’s timed and can only be opened and taken once.

Chapter 4: (2 weeks) Oct. 6 – Oct. 19 *Oct. 19 – Ch. 4 Sunday Wrap-Up ***NOTE: Work ahead this chapter so that you’ll have Fall Break free. *FALL BREAK: October 11-14 *Last Day to Drop: Oct. 10 *Upcoming Video Exam – Begin studying and prepare well.

EXAM 2 - Video Exam - Preparation (1 week) Oct. 20 – Oct. 26

***Note: I cut an entire week into our schedule for Video Exam preparation; I expect it to be quality work. Don’t procrastinate.

1. _________ Log onto FB. Check FBGT for announcements, etc. Remember to check this page several times a week for important information and any FBPs you may wish to do. (See syllabus for details.)

2. _________ Study Chapters 3 & 4.

3. _________ Locate the Exam Video Instructions on FBGT under Files.

4. _________ Read the syllabus on how to make and post your video.

5. _________ Write out what you plan to say. Rehearse MANY times to make sure it’s very

conversational. You must be able to say it all in one take. While it doesn’t have to be memorized, it DOES HAVE TO BE FLUID. (In other words, by the time you post your video, you should have it almost memorized, naturally, and that should be obvious to the viewer.)

6. _________ Post your Video by Tuesday, Oct. 28th by midnight that night.

9. _______ Take Final Exam (Cumulative - Chs. 1-6) any time on Monday, Dec. 8th OR Tuesday, Dec. 9th. The absolute deadline is by midnight, Dec. 9th.
