God is the Centre of Everything
1. God is Gathering the Army
A) What God Said in the Tabernacle of Meeting (Num. 1:1)
Following their departure from Egypt, by the 1st of 2nd month of the 2nd year, they would left
Egypt a full 13 months. They had spent the past year in the wilderness near Mount Sinai;
there they had received the Commandments, and built the tabernacle. By then the
Tabernacle had been put up for a month, the commandments and statutes had been declared
and the people had made the necessary equipping spiritually.
The Tabernacle is a representation of God’s presence, and it was within this wilderness
Tabernacle that God spoke with Moses. Moses and Aaron were leading the whole Israel
community through God’s Word.
B) Gathering An Army Capable of Warring (Num. 1:1-3)
The process of numbering the people focused on males aged 20 and above, being the group
most able to engage in battles. Their object was to enter into the promise land of Canaan. To
possess the land, they would surely face battles; and to win a battle, Moses required an
organized warring team that could battle at the forefront. This team must be courageous and
also submissive.
2. Stand Together with the Leaders (Num. 1:4-16)
God selected the tribe leaders from all the twelve tribes to assist Moses and Aaron. With the
leaders, there were the followers. Tribe or Cell leaders are appointed leaders, and being leaders,
they must take up their rightful positions, so that others can arise to follow. Leaders in turn
must know how to follow, as such, all involved are properly structured into a strong army.
3. Team up in the Right Relationship (Num. 1:17-46)
All the twelve tribes were encamped around the Tabernacle along the four sides North, South,
East & West. Their camp locations were allocated based on specific relationships. At the South,
there were the children of Leah Reuben, Simeon and Gad, the son of Zilpah, maid to Leah. At the
East were also children of Leah Judah, Issachar and Zebulun. At the West were children of
Joseph (of Rachel) Ephraim, Manasseh, and the son of Rachel Benjamin. Lastly at the North

were children of Rachel’s maid Bilhah – Dan and Naphtali, and Asher from Zilpah.
4. God's Tabernacle As the Centre (Num. 1:47-54)
Whenever the Israelites were encamped, the Levites were located at the front area, that was the
area closest to and around the Tabernacle. The twelve tribes would then be encamped behind
the Levites. All the community encamped around the Tabernacle which was to be in the heart
center, symbolizing God as their center, also the concept of “God first” in life. “Tabernacle”
represents the place where God dwells and speaks with Moses and Aaron, thereafter they
would command the twelve tribes based on God’s plans.
Numbers placed God as the center from its beginning, be they related to the Community setting
up camp or breaking up camp, numbering the army or family living, God was given the priority at
the center. When they are setting up Camp, whether it be the battle-ready army or the
individual family, all needed to return to its own camp or to its own family. Though they were
marked for battle, they were still keeping company with family, not being separated. The Levites
delegated to serve God encamped around the Tabernacle, thus best located to watch over the
Tabernacle for serving God.
So the Israelites conducted all things based on “all that the Lord had commanded Moses”, and
such commands became the bases of all their future victories.■ [This sermon message was

Personal and Family 1) Sometimes, God would like us to move on, while sometimes we are to stay put.
The important thing is to learn to follow and trust Him. Give thanks that our Almighty God finds and prepares resting places for us ahead of us; it is such a secured and great blessing! Pray for ourselves that our faith and dependence on God grow, as well as our willingness to follow Him.
2) We also believe that God will lead our marriage and family; however God leads, that is how we and our family will follow.
Nations and Pandemic 1) Give thanks to God for covering our nation like a cloud. May God arise, and the
enemies be scattered; flee before God, none can stand before Him. 2) Continue to pray for the condition of Covid-19 of the whole earth, and pray
earnestly also for the recent newly diagnosed cases in our nation. May God prevent the condition from worsening and spreading; may all pestilences flee. May the heavenly Father be gracious and merciful, to save the whole earth from the damage of the pestilence.
Church and Gospel 1) Give thanks for God's leading all these while. Continue to pray for the church,
that His protection and covering be over all on-site worship services. Remember also the online GASK Children church and Cedar Service in prayers for their future and decisions made; to be led by God to enter into His will.
2) May God continue to anoint the fivefold ministries of the church and the passing on; to expand the media department, gospel team, intercessor team, shepherding and equipping. May we follow Rev Esther and the church leaders with one heart and possess the territory that God has assigned to GA.
