1. General
The operational saety o the hydraulicsystem and the durability o the built-in
elements is principally dependent upon
careul maintenance. Usage o the ol-
lowing standards will make your hydrau-lic system a sae control unit with long
operational durability.
2. Start up
Pipes must be cleaned careully beore
mounting. Pipes and screw connections
must be selected in accordance to ma-
ximum pressure and ow. The mounting
and connections must be checked with
the hydraulic plan. Please consult assem-
bly instructions available rom the hydrau-
lic tube and ftting manuacturer.
2.2 Oil flling
Power packs are delivered without oil.
The pressurizing medium (hydraulic oil)
must be fltered flled in over the desi-gnated fller plug. Hydraulic oil is typically
delivered dirty! We recommend to use a
drum pump with integrated flter (5...10
µm). Please select the oil rom the atta-ched oil recommendation chart.
2.3 Electric motor
Connect the electric motor according to
the technical specifcation. Beore che-
cking the electric motor rotation direction
(short turn-on, direction arrow on the
motor or pump bell housing) unscrew the
adjusting spindle rom the accumulator
charging valve and the drain cock (red
star grip). With this adjustment the hy-
draulic system must work un-pressurised
or approximately 5 minutes to de-aerate.
At the same time it is necessary that the
pump delivers oil. Due to unavourable
positioning or because o long storage
it maybe possible that the pump will not
de-aerate. In this case try de-aeration by
disconnecting a consumer pipe and rou-
ting it back to tank. The oil will be pumped
without pressure back to the tank.

2.5 Pressure adjusting (accumulator operation)
a) Turn in drain cock (red star grip)
b) Turn in slowly the accumulator
charging valve adjusting spindle and
observe pressure gauge. I the working
pressure pB
is reached, the spindle must
be fxed with the locknut and the protec-
ting cap can be mounted.
2.4 Accumulator charging valve - unction description
The system working pressure pB
is adju-
stable only at the accumulator-chargingvalve. The adjusted pressure is described
in the hydraulic plan.
The accumulator charging valve has a
fxed hysteresis o 5, 10, 15 and 0% o
the working pressure pB. When the top
adjusted pressure is reached (accumu-
lator ull) the valve switches the pump
to unpressured circulation. I the pres-
sure is alling to the selected pressure
dierence (because o the accumulatorevacuation to the consumer) the accumu-
lator charging valve switches so that the
pump flls the accumulator to the adjusted
pressure.
It is possible at delivery, that the accumu-
lator-charging valve isn‘t adjusted in line
with the hydraulic plan. Then the adju-
sting must be made during start up.

2.6 Accumulator
The accumulator oil flling is made auto-
matically by the accumulator-chargingvalve. The manual saety discharging is
done by unscrewing the drain cock (red
star knob). Beore re-operation the drain
cock must be completely turned in. I
this is not the case the system will have
decreased perormance and it will heat
up. Users o hydraulic systems with ac-
cumulators must take due care o saety, including valid specifcation. At accumula-
tor charging operation please don‘t adjust
„partial pressure“ (slowly turn in or out o
the accumulator charging valve spindle)
this will destroy the accumulator.
3. System maintenancePlease apply a maintenance book which
notes the work carried out during the ma-
chine lie, with oil and flter changes and
any service issues.
Maintenance and service are allowed
only on a depressurized installation. Ater
electric motor switching please activate
the equipment or accumulator deprus-
surizing (Drain cock, discharge valve,...)
and check the system pressure on the
pressure gauge.
3.1 Oil level control
Beore starting the oil level must be
checked every day. The oil level indicator
is positioned on the ront o the tank. The
oil level must be positioned between the
marks min. and max. Refll only oil o the
same specifcation.
The frst oil change is approximately 0
working hours ater frst start up. Then in
an interval o 000 working hours or ater
a regular examination o the oil. At all oil
changes it is necessary to clean the oil
tank inside. That is possible by removing
the cleanout cover or tank lid.
3.2 Oil change
3.3 Filter elements
The flter elements are generally not reus-
able (exception: wire mesh elements) and
they must be checked and i necessary
changed at the oil change interval. The
contamination indicator should also be
checked regularly to see i elements are
clogged and replaced i required.

Pipe work and fttings must be checked
or leakage, i it is necessary the pipeft-
ting must be tightened. Hosepipes are
wear parts. They must be checked at
regular time intervals and replaced i they
are cracked or damaged.
3.6 Temperature
The oil temperature must be checked
regularly. An unreasonable rise in the
temperature show increased wear, or that
there are switching errors in the control
elements, or an open drain cock on sy-
stems with accumulator charging valves
(please consult .6).
3.8 Circuit system, hydraulic connections
3.7 Heat exchanger
Possible source o errors at systems
with heat exchanger are urring or closed
cooling water valve on the oil / water heatexchanger, or deective / disconnected
ventilator, dirty radiator on oil / air heat
exchanger. The oil temperature should
not exceed 60° C.
The accumulator gas pre-charge must be
regularly checked, latest at oil change. We recommend you obtain a charge and
test device because only an accurately
pre-charged accumulator can guarantee
correct unction o the system. The flling
or measurement o the gas pre-chargecan only be made on accumulators with
zero pressure on the oil side.
3.4 Accumulators
3.5 Operation pressure
The set pressure must be checked in
regular time intervals. Every pressure
dierence will change the perormance o
the machine.
Use only original spare parts to suit the
components ftted. To guarantee the
saety o the system we recommend you
exchange complete Voith components
or send them to Voith or inspection and
repair.
