Segment I: “Honouring the Past” About our Guest-of-Honour, Mrs Helen Chong Principal of Crescent Girls’ School Former Principal of Northbrooks Secondary School (2012 – 2016) Under Mrs Helen Chong’s stewardship, Northbrooks developed our Applied Learning Programme (ALP) in Aerospace and Learning for Life Programme (LLP) in Outdoor Education. Her guidance allowed our ALP in Aerospace to mature into a full curriculum with broad-based programmes for all students, and niche programmes such as the Youth Mission to Mars. She was also instrumental in transforming our LLP in Outdoor Education into a comprehensive programme that includes rock climbing, abseiling and orienteering. Thanks to the strong foundation that she has laid, Northbrooks is well-positioned to achieve its vision of Every Brooksian a Champion, Impacting the Community.

Segment II: “Celebrating the Present”
Concert Performance: Guzheng Ensemble Conductor: Ms Lim Choo Li
Starting off with《小幸运》 “Fortune”, we hope that this piece is gentle and
soothing to your soul. In contrast,《战台风》"Fight with Typhoon" has an
intense melody with lyrical moments. It symbolises the heroic spirit in all of us that enables us to overcome difficulties.

Brooksian Anthem
With Brooksian fervour Lift up our voices Each day a new beginning Let hearts be open With hopes arising Our promises don’t deny. We’re friends who offer compassion Whatever the circumstance With fortitude we will overcome Be strong,be true, be free! Reach for tomorrow Take hold our future Let’s build a brighter new day We’re soaring, yet rooted Take flight And see hopes and dreams come true Our fears to conquer Stand tall Discover who we are and more Making champions of us all Volatilis tamen radicalis O see our dreams come true Our fears to conquer Stand tall Discover who we are and more Making champions of us all Making champions of us all!
Music composed by Miss Chan Young Young Lyrics by Miss Wendy Tan Swee Tee

Segment III: “Embracing the Future”
Join us in exploring our new school venues!
Library Wall Art Mural
‘Joyous discoveries: A journey through books’
This inspirational mural shows the fascinating worlds that students can be transported to through reading.
As Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R.) Programme commenced in January 2018, more students began to visit the library to borrow fiction books. Besides stocking the library with books that interest Brooksians, the venue needed to be more aesthetically pleasing. This led to the Library Committee and Art Department to initiate the painting of the outer wall and entrance of the library so as to enliven it.
A team building activity; the painting of the wall mural has definitely been a dynamic and fun way to encourage collaboration and creativity in our Brooksian community. The production of the work of art acts as a powerful visual reminder of the collaborative efforts of NBrSS students, staff and its home-school-community partners; to make the library a more welcoming space for reading for pleasure and learning.

Champions’ Lodge
By Champions, For Champions.
Officially opened in October 2017, the Champions’ Lodge is specially designed to provide a physical space for all Brooksians to unwind after school. A selected group of students were elected as members of the executive committee and they are in-charge of running the lodge. The slogan for the space, ‘By Champions, For Champions’, illustrates the objective of developing a culture of peer leadership among students and the executive committee. Equipped with games students love and comfortable furniture, the Champions’ Lodge is opened twice a week. All are welcome to play the games or simply chat with fellow Brooksians. In the pipeline is the introduction of exciting workshops in the Lodge to engage students in meaningful activities after school.

Dance Studio
One room, multiple functionalities.
With the set-up of the Dance Studio, the Modern Dancers are now able to have training sessions that are conducted more effectively and efficiently. Equipped with blinds, mirrors, laminated flooring and a basic sound system, the Dance Studio enables students, teachers and instructors to be more focussed on instructions and skills development with ease, comfort and privacy. The utilisation of the Dance Studio extends beyond the Modern Dance CCA. It supports curricular programmes such as the Drama-in-English Language for Lower Sec. N(T) classes and the Arts Enrichment Programme, where students can enjoy and appreciate the arts experience within a conducive space. In addition, the studio is made available for other users and uses too. Teachers have held yoga sessions there and students who wished to practise their dance moves for recreation were welcomed to use the space too.

Health and Fitness Room
Celebrating health @ R.E.P.S.
Our new gym is located at Level 1 of Block C. Named R.E.P.S., it can either stand for positive traits we want to see in all Brooksians, such as being Resilient, Energetic, Persistent and Self-disciplined or actions that users can perform in a gym, such as Run, Exert, Pedal and Stretch. With an area of 70m², it is more spacious than most school gyms and accommodates 3 treadmills, 2 stationary bicycles, a squat/power rack and an 8 station multi-gym. Furthermore, there is sufficient space for use of free weights, flexibility exercises and calisthenics. Centrally located and facing The Brook, R.E.P.S. attracts both staff and students to use the gym regularly. It is more accessible for students to use as part of CCA training and with the After School Engagement (ASE) room, the Champions’ Lodge, just a stone throw away, we hope to attract Brooksians to also take the option of participating in some physical training programmes after school.
