1. KEY EVENTS IN TERM 4

1. School-based Assessments

The following school-based assessments will be held in Term 4:

a) Secondary 4 Express and 5 NA Preliminary Examination (Cont’d) from 14 Sep,

Mon to 21 Sep, Mon.

b) Pre-examination papers for EL and Mother Tongue Listening Comprehension on

24 Sep, Thurs and 28 Sep, Mon, from 3.30pm to 4.15pm, for Secondary 3

Express and NA (Out-of-stream) students.

c) Pre-examination papers for EL and Mother Tongue Listening Comprehension on

24 Sep, Thurs and 28 Sep, Mon from 2.30 to 3.15, for Secondary 3 Normal

Academic and NT (Out-of-stream) students.

d) End-of-year Examination for Secondary 1 to 3 students from 29 Sep, Tues, to 9

Oct, Fri.

2. National Examinations

Secondary 4 and 5 students will sit for the following national examinations:

a) GCE ‘N’ Level Examination from 14 Sep, Mon to 16 Oct, Fri.

b) Science Practical Assessment for ‘O’ Level Examination from 1 Oct, Thurs to 13

Oct, Tues.

c) GCE ‘O’ Level Examination from 14 Oct, Wed to 12 Nov, Thurs.

3. Structured Remedial and Study Programmes

To prepare students for the upcoming school-based and national examinations, the

following programmes will be conducted:

a) Structured Remedial Programmes for Secondary 1 to 3 students from 21 Sep,

Mon.

b) Intensive Revision for Secondary 4NA and 4NT students (Phase 2) from 24 Sep,

Thurs to 2 Oct, Fri.

c) Intensive Revision for Secondary 4 Express and 5NA students will be held from 28

Sep, Mon to 9 Oct, Fri.

4. Marking Day (12 Oct, Mon)

Students will not need to report to school on 12 Oct, Mon, which is set aside for teachers

to complete marking the end-of-year examination papers.

5. Promotion Exercise (20 Oct, Tues)

The promotion exercise will be held on 20 Oct, Tues. Students will not need to report to

school on that day.

6. Confirmation of Streaming Options for Secondary 2 Students (15 Oct, Thu to 21 Oct, Wed) All Secondary 2 students are required to confirm their 2021 Secondary 3 course options via AdminBreeze from 15 Oct, Thu to 21 Oct, Wed. The streaming results will be released by 4 Nov, Wed 1700 hrs via Adminbreeze.

Appeals should be submitted by 6 Nov, Fri, 1700 hrs. Please submit the completed Streaming Appeal Form to the General Office, or email a signed and scanned copy in PDF to the Streaming Committee at Streaming@sass.sg. The results of the appeal will be released by 12 Nov, Thu, 1700 hours.

7. Secondary 3 Head Start Programme (26 Oct, Mon to 3 Nov, Tues)

Lessons will be conducted from 26 Oct, Mon to 3 Nov, Tues, for Secondary 3 Express

students, to better prepare them for their graduating year in 2021.

8. Virtual Open House

Prospective students and their parents will be invited to view our e-Open House, hosted

on our school webpage from mid-October. You may wish to share this with interested

prospective students amongst your family and friends. The information will be posted on

our Facebook page closer to the event.

2. SCHOOL PROMOTION CRITERIA 2.1 The promotion criteria for each stream is shown in the table below. We seek your

understanding in setting appropriate targets for your sons and supporting them in doing their best, as we aim to help each boy realise his potential at the national examination.

3. PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE (PTC) FOR TERM 4 (23 Oct, Fri)

3.1 A PTC for selected Secondary 1 to 3 students will be held at classrooms on 23 Oct, Fri,

from 8.00am to 12.00p.m. Your child’s Form Teacher will be in touch with you about this

closer to the date.

4. REINFORCING SOCIAL SKILLS AT HOME

4.1 To best support your child’s/ward’s growth, you may wish to reinforce three skills they

have learnt over the year, for continued application in the coming months.

4.2 Key steps for these social skills are as follows:

a) Organising Tasks & Time

1) List all tasks to be done.

2) Estimate the time needed to complete each task.

3) Rank tasks based on deadlines, time needed and importance.

4) Prepare a schedule for your tasks.

5) Complete tasks according to your schedule.

b) Reflecting & Improving

1) Think about the situation you are in.

2) Identify your behaviour and feelings.

3) Consider if your behaviour is appropriate for the situation.

4) Identify other behaviours that would be more helpful for the situation.

c) Asking for help

1) Look for someone who can help you.

2) Check if the person has time to help.

3) Describe the problem to the person. Be specific

4) Listen if advice is given. Reflect on it.

5) Thank the person sincerely.

5. START OF SCHOOL TERM IN 2021

5.1 The new academic year will commence on 4 Jan 2021, Mon. Students will report to their Form Teachers at 7.20am, at their respective classrooms.
