As a Principal I am very proud and truly overwhelmed after the amazing efforts of our community on the weekend. We had 53 people come and assist in our huge clean up and working bee. As a result all the jobs we needed done were completed, as well as many others that we did not think we would have the time to attempt, with the rain holding off just enough to get it all done! I would like to sincerely thank the parents and children who worked so hard. Thank you also to the families who assisted by donating cake, the use of a coffee machine (yum!) and extra plants. Our P&C work very closely with the staff and I believe as a team we are achieving wonderful things for our school. Thank you and congratulations to the P&C for all their 18th August 2010 Term 3, Week 5 Monica St Baker - Principal Ph: (02) 6962 4540 Fax: (02) 6964 1476 1 East St, Yoogali, NSW 2680 email:[email protected] Website: www.yoogali-p.schools.nsw.edu.au Working Bee a HUGE success!! 53 people come to help on Saturday! EDUCATION WEEK A GREAT SUCCESS

Congratulations to the Yoogali students who represented our school beautifully. Not only was there comments about the excellent manners and behaviour of the students, but also comments from the general public about our beautiful school uniform. The captains were in their blazers and ties and all other students in full school uniform. Many of the general public were heard commenting, “Which school is that? Don’t they look smart!” Thank you to the parents who either came to watch their children or assisted with transport for Education Week activities.

Community News Yoogali Public School is able to email the Yarn out to any interested families and parents. If you would like this option please forward your email to the school at the email address on the front page.

K/1 have been very busy. In PD/

H/PE we have been looking at

social skills. This week we were

looking at what makes a good

friend. Each student drew a

name of a K/1 person out of a

bucket and wrote a sentence

about why that person was a

good friend. Here are some of

their fantastic sentences.

Jonathon is a good friend

because he listens to me.

~ Daniel Morris

Riley is a good friend because

he shares with me.

~ Thomas Hogno

Tanayah is a good friend

because she helps me when I

am sick.

~ Jessica Carnell

In K/1 we are all good friends!

Sarah

With Education Week and the terrific effort that our school community put in for our working bee I have been thinking about just how fantastic our school is. This week I have asked 2/3/4 what they think makes our school fantastic! (They needed to include an adjective in their response). Brontie~ our brand new library near our classroom. Laycie~ all the classrooms are cool. Isabella~ our fantastic working teachers. Marcus~ the amazing sport programs. Robbie~ our creative art in 2/3/4. Nicholas R~ our really awesome, cool teachers. Darcie~ the decorative garden around the tractor. Bec~ our fantastic teacher! Bethany~ the awesome teacher’s support. Isobelle~ the new pavers improving our terrific playground. Cody C~ our fair-dinkum colourful classrooms. Matthew K~ all the cool teachers. Dale~ the wobbly football posts. Lachlan~ all the fun stuff. Jamie (away) Luke~ our terrific effort in raising money. Matt S~ the amazing opportunities to go on excursions. Emily~ the awesome new library. Cody A~ the awesome equipment that we can use. John (away) Osman~ the amazing canteen that supplies BBQ sauce. Nicholas P~ our creative sports shed. Kurt~ an unreal playground. Leslie~ our cool rusty old tractor. In 2/3/4 we think highly of OUR school. ~ Emma Quinn

We had a representative from the RCPSA come to speak to the students on Tuesday. The lady was very impressed with the Year 5/6 behaviour and also commented to Miss Jane that never had she been asked so many intelligent and informed questions by a Stage 3 group. Well done, people. What a wonderful thing to hear!

Zoe had the students very engaged and interested in her message of responsible ownership of pets and consequences of not doing so. Homework Both Jaimee and I are getting tougher on homework. Students must bring it on Friday, completed! The consequences of not doing so will be to re-do the work during lunch time. We are trying to ready the Year 6 students to meet deadlines and the consequences of not meeting these. Getting into good habits now will not hurt the Year 5 students either. ~Monica & Jaimee~
