The team took fifth overall. Sophomore Dayton Dreher took third, senior Jeff Shaw fourth and senior Brent Juenemann fifth at the annual Class 3-2-1A State Tourna- ment in Hays on Thursday and Friday. Juniors Kade Brown and Chan- ning Fortin both came within a match of winning a medal, said Coach Joe Dreher. The sixth man on Decatur Com- munity High’s state team was fresh- man Troy Juenemann, who did not place. “It was a very competitive state tournament with a lot of upsets,” Dreher said. “We did not have the best day on Thursday, but the guys stepped up and finished strong on Friday. “I am proud of the whole team. We had a good year, placing in the top four at all tournaments and winning the (Northwest Kansas) League dual title.” Wresting at state were: • 106 pounds, T. Juenemann, lost 12-3 to Colton Stalford, Caney Valley, and was pinned by Logan Bowen, Effingham, for a 20-16 season record. • 126, Dreher, pinned Ryan Krause, Russell, lost 8-4 to Hunter Speer, Horton; won 14-2 over Cory Knight, Southeast of Saline; pinned Guy Kinder, Caney Valley; won 7-4 over Justin Wagner, Effingham; and won 9-4 over Alec Hager, Norton, for third place and a 35-7 record. • 132, B. Juenemann, won 7-0 over Zakk Hollands, Effingham; lost 9-2 to Brogan Humphrey, Fre- donia; won 6-5 over Drew Jones, Hoxie; pinned John Rodriguez, Caney Valley; lost 6-4 in overtime to Riley Soward, Halstead; and won 9-1 over Kasey Biddle, Burden., for fifth and a 31-7 record. • 145, Brown, lost 16-6 to Re- gis Weiss, Russell; pinned Zack Weidmeyer, Fredonia; pinned Zack Duwe, Anthony; and lost 12-6 to Bowe Behymer, Beloit, for a 36-4 record. • 195, Shaw, pinned Jake Brazzle, Riley County; pinned Ryan Ander- son, Council Grove; was pinned by Colt Castlebury, Douglass; pinned Augie Schmidt, Leon; and lost 10-2 to Josh McDowell, for fourth and a 24-14 record. • 220, Fortin, lost 7-2 to Evan Slater, Marion; pinned D.J. Wrestlers take medalsat Class 3-2-1A state meet

Three Oberlin wrestlers placed at the state tournament, while two others came within a match of win-ning a medal.

The team took fifth overall.Sophomore Dayton Dreher took

third, senior Jeff Shaw fourth and senior Brent Juenemann fifth at the annual Class 3-2-1A State Tourna-ment in Hays on Thursday and Friday.
