Cessnock players and' supporters were sorry to hear of the death of Mrs. Ward, mother of Cessnock's assistant secretary Tom Ward. ,.

One of Lakes United's best clubmen is Third Grader Gary Buttons. Gary is· one of the most conscientious, and certainly the best dressed ti-ainer in the club and is always on ha11d to play or act as reserve for the Third Gr.ade team whenever it takes the field. Con­gratulations Gary and keep up the good work. ·

Frank, Wilkinson, North's hard working Asst. Secret-ary, was all smiles after last week's successful' cabaret. It was a1 huge success thanks to Frank's effort '·in as much so that a. repeat cabaret will be held same place, Trades Hall, three weeks time.

All at West are delighted with Allan Buman's selection in the N.S.W. Rugby League team at present touring Queensland. One ardent fan claims this is truly "Buman's Year". it can be said that he is cert-ainly having his best seas9n so far.

In his initial firs't grade game last week, Brian Borthwick from Waratah tµrned in a grand display. Brian has been one cf Waratah's most consistent forwards this year and it is going to be hard to keep him out of first grade from now on.

One of, Lakes United's most versatile players , · is Reserve Grader George Foster. George has played for Lakes in all three grades in every position on the field except hooker. Maybe the ,selectors will give you an opportunity in that position before long. George.

Covered with mud, but still able to smile despite a busted eye was Wa.r­atah/s forwal·d Jeff McTaggart. Last week Jeff was seen at his best all thrnugh the second half and his he culian efforts in defence, aid much give _his side victory.

Pleasing to see veteran forward Rex Elvin having a good season with Central. Rex originally .came 'to Cen­tral in 1956 after having been graded first grade with Newtown.

Billy Mattingly showed 'he has re­covered from his illness with a great first up game last week. Another good game today should make him a strong condendor for a senior place with North.

It was· a pity for Waratah five eighth David Higgins that the ground became a , sea. of mud last week. David had "made;, Waratah's try and seemed sr,i'. for a b)g game, when the rain ma it a forwards' game. David has ff peers, as a five eighth.

Promising young Lakes United centre, T�·evor Andrews, who fractured 11is leg against South in the first round is' making a rapid recovery. Trevor has his leg out of plaster and is returning to work this week. He is even talking of playing again before tl).e end of the season.

CLINIC FOR INJURED The Sydney hospital has opened a

clinic for the treatment of footballers suffering from injuries. It will be knoym as Sydney Hospital's Sports­man's Clinic and will be open 24 hours per day seven days per week.

This new venture will be of benefit to all sportsmen, who will be required to meet normal out-patient charges-.

The hospital's scheme . will , prove / to be a financial saving for the 'sportsmen, because present day phys­iotherapists' charges range from one to two guineas a visit ..
