The Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival is celebrating its 30th season and showing no signs of slowing down. With a number of new classes added a busy schedule also full of old favorites, the 2009 season is brimming with activity and potential.

This will be executive director and co-founder Jo Scott’s final year as acting director, but she plans to leave the festival, now arguable legendary in the area, in good hands. She also said she’s likely to remain involved in some capacity.

“I surround myself with intelligent people, so I know things will continue to run smoothly,” she said of her staff and volunteers.

The festival is slated for July 19-Aug. 2. Orientation begins July 19.
