If District 110 classes are cancelled for the next day or prior to 5:00 AM due to poor winter weather conditions:

Safari Island will be closed. If District 110 classes are cancelled after Safari Island has opened:

Safari Island will close at 10:00 AM and all programs will be cancelled.

If District 110 classes are dismissed early due to poor winter weather conditions:

If you’ve never heard of kettlebells, you aren’t alone. Kettlebells have been around for decades, but only recently has this piece of strength training equip-ment caught the attention of the mainstream fitness participant. Kettlebell training requires the partici-pant to focus on whole body conditioning because lifting and controlling a kettlebell forces the entire body, and specifically the core, to contract as a group, building both strength and stability at the same time.

Participants will be required to bring their own kettlebells to class. It is recommended that women begin with a 12-25 pound kettlebell and men with a 25-35 pound kettlebell.

An active lifestyle helps people stay independent and healthy. With October 1 celebrating the International Day of Older Persons (World Health Organization), isn’t it time to choose an active life? Walking the dog and playing with grandkids. Tilling the soil for next season’s garden. Visiting friends and family before sailing off on the cruise. There are many reasons why get-ting older means getting better, and being able to do what you want, when you want, is one of them. Older adults can discover ways to choose an active life by participating in the annual Active Aging Week, a national event promoted by the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA). “Staying active is the low-cost way to stay independent and healthy as we grow older,” commented Colin Milner, CEO of the organization. “It’s also much more interesting than sitting around all day doing nothing!”

City of Waconia Parks and Recreation and NETA, a non-profit fitness professional association, are co-sponsoring the follow-ing nationally-recognized workshops:

GROUP EXERCISE CERTIFICATION Saturday, November 6
