Don’t know what motivates others or how to do it

Empower others May not be good at building team spirit by focusing on a few

May be poor readers of others, not picking up on their needs or cues

Create a climate in which people want to do their best

May not take a tough stand when the situation calls for it

Don’t have people under them that do their best

Invite input and share ownership and visibility

May be seen as providing inequitable treatment

May use ethics statements to close off discussion
