Secretary: no report Treasurer: no report Delegate Report: AKC is trying to establish themselves with a Delegate body, asking for more input from the Delegates, with includes Veterinarian outreach in teaching hospitals. Encouraging participation in having clubs talk to students prior to gradua-tion. We are doing well as a club. We have an active and large membership, diverse members, variety of breeds and people of different ages. AKC is doing something new with regard to Therapy dogs. A program is being designed where people can easily get a therapy dog title. Something great we can do in the dog world. Getting back into schools, volunteer at libraries, etc. We have done this in the past, will look into it again. An organized activity as these should be covered under the CKMC insurance. The biggest item is switching from 4 meetings to 3 meetings a year. Old Business: Spring Obedience: Trial dates will be April 6 and 7, 2013. Judges Hired, waiting for AKC approval. We need workers. June Conformation: dates for the June cluster shows are 20-23. Concurrent shows include dobes, chow and weims. Specialties include min pin, shar-peis and poodles. Supported entries include tollers and newfs. Police officer to be there for a demonstration. We donated $5,000 for training and equipment for this police and dog. Agility: Glen would like next year a 3 day show in Vadnais Heights to hold 2 rings instead of 1. We will ask permission from Land ‘O Lakes to participate. Sharon Anderson will provide us with the dates available that do not conflict with any other show. We have a waiting list now for agility, which is in high demand. New Business: AKC delegate requesting a member to be on a committee for Rally, Agility and Obedience to help on a email list to make suggestions, etc.

2012 A Year in Review By: Wayne Harmon The year in review has its highlights and lowlights. The passing of Peggy O’Hare has left a large hole in our hearts and a time to reflect on how much she did for the club. She was always there to take on one more job, always willing to serve for the betterment of purebred dogs. She filled many roles in our club and she was always willing to do more. She quietly did her job and did it well. The last major function she participated in was the first of our spring obedience trials. She was instrumental in pushing the club towards this new event and worked tirelessly on making sure all of the paperwork was in order. The spring obedience trial went well with a not so good weekend. At least it will not happen often that the trial will be on a holiday weekend. The fall obedience trial was also a success and many of the club members were able to participate and share time with the club members. Agility was also a new event for the club and it went excep-tionally well. With the expansion of events we were also able to add many new members and I hope they stay involved in the club and are able to meet the many members in the dif-ferent events. If all goes well we will be able to add a second agility weekend which will continue to serve the members of our club as well as the dog world in the area. The conformation show in June also provided an arena for many of our members to participate by showing, stewarding or helping out in one of the many committee work needs. Take the Lead match and reserved grooming continues to fund needs for the greater dog world. It is a great organiza-tion in which we are able to contribute. Continued coopera-tion with the Anoka County Minnesota Kennel Club helps to make this a premier Minnesota event. The sanctioned match was also well attended and the addi-tion of the police dog demonstration was well received. Food continues to be a factor in keeping us together as a wonder-ful meal was served. The Annual Banquet and Holiday Brunch were well attended and appreciated by the many members that were able to attend. Donations were made to the Isanti County 4-H dog project

for equipment, the spay/neuter fund for East Central Minne-sota Veterinarians. A large donation was made to the Isanti Sheriff police dog training and equipment. Each of the pro-jects serves Cambridge and the surrounding area well. Many members have stepped up to serve on committees and we probably have the largest number of active mem-bers participating then we have had for a while. There are too many individuals to mention but each of the contribu-tions is appreciated. We are an active club in which we should be proud of. Projects in the works for education in the schools and youth groups are in the works. Therapy dog recognition needs to be improved. Many individuals are participating in a variety of events that also are helping the dog world. Many wishes for a 2013 that is filled with success.

December 2012 Delegate Committee Reports

All-Breed Committee

Event Plans - a plan for reserved/non-reserved grooming must be submitted with show application Companion Events e-list – A performance e-list has been set up and all clubs, member and non-member are re-quested to consider one or two individuals to sign up to share ideas on increasing entries for rally and obedience trials. Contact Maureen Setter to be added. Online Library Resource – a request for clubs to submit ini-tiatives and programs that have been successful. A downloadable form is available and will be added after re-viewed by the sub-committee. The disaster preparedness power point is already on the site. It is available on the club resources tab. Opt-in program – 900,000 e-mails have been sent to re-cently registered dogs. 963 clubs have signed up to be listed and clubs within the geographical area of the regis-trant will be listed to them. The program is open to member and non-member clubs. Local breed clubs and the parent club information is also included in the e-mails. Owner-Handler Series – rules need to be clarified, eligibility issues continue to arise. Very knowledgeable stewards needed to make the series work as they are the only one’s that know who is eligible. Club Territory presentation given by Mike Leoisis The present system was put in place in 1909 with 64 mem-ber clubs. The design was to protect clubs from having other clubs take over each others area. There are now 5100 clubs. There is a reluctance for a club to give up territory to a new club. Show Cancellation sub-committee – There is a show cancel-lation insurance, Showstoppers, that does cover financial event loss. KC of Philadelphia insures gate. Committee con-tinues to meet. Reduction of Delegate Meetings – There is a discussion to reduce meetings from 4 to 3. Additional time for committee meetings would be added to two of the dates. Proposed meetings in Apr-Aug- Dec. Present meetings are in Mar-Jun-Sept-Dec Security Dog Breeding Program – the U of Penn security dog breeding program at Lakeland AFB TX has been rec-

ommended for closure. This program has bred 500 superior rated “super dogs” for the TSA. It is suggested to contact your federal legislators and ask for a hearing before this pro-gram is closed. The program is funded by a $2 million re-search grant. Added info from a conversation: TAD/SAW Train a Dog/Save a Warrior is a program Cathy Rubens has information regarding.

Dog Show Rules Committee

Ch 4 Sec 2 - Discussion regarding changing language re-garding adding electronic premium lists from five weeks to four from the closing date. First class would continue to be mailed at five weeks. Ch 14 Sec 2 – discussion of no company logo, badges or kennel club jackets for judges. The rule for exhibitors should be extended to include judges.

Forum A three minute speech was given by the candidates for the Board that will be voted on in March. The names included: Tom Davies, Judy Daniels, Lee Arnold, Gail LeBarge*, Alan Kalter*, Harvery Whitney*, Carl Ashby*. The asterisk de-notes those nominated by the nominating committee with the others nominated by members of the delegate body.

ommended by the Canine ambassador program. It is re-
