ApprenticeshipsApprenticeships – training for the future

An Apprenticeship is a training programme designed to develop job-related skills, knowledge and competencies in a particular professional area.

Not just for young people, an Apprenticeship can be viewed as an effective development programme for the whole workforce, providing effective skills and training for members of staff who have not achieved a degree level qualification. So whether you are starting out, or already working in a business, an Apprenticeship programme could be the way to kick-start your career.

Andover College and Sparsholt College offer more than 30 Apprenticeship programmes across a range of sectors. With new Apprenticeship programmes being added all the time, we are sure to be able to offer you the programme you need.

Becoming an Apprentice

To be eligible for any Apprenticeship programme, the Apprentice must be employed in an industry relevant to the Apprenticeship. For most programmes, the Apprentice will attend college one day a week and will look to the employer for support in training and work. Apprenticeship programmes will also ensure that Apprentices have sound qualifications in maths and English.

All programmes work towards developing a professional working style, safe working practices, awareness of the work environment and communicating effectively with colleagues and customers.

Level 2 programmes are suitable as an introduction to the industry, developing basic skills.

Business, Management and Personal DevelopmentProviding soft skills and qualifications for the real world.

Many small and medium-sized businesses find they have similar training needs to others but don’t have enough staff to warrant a specialist course.

Sparsholt Business provides an ideal option for individuals to join short one day workshops and courses with people with similar needs from different sectors and industries. We offer flexible options running throughout the year at both Andover and Sparsholt College.

For larger groups we can also run courses in the workplace. The beauty of these courses is that you get to share ideas and best practice with colleagues and bring that fresh learning and inspiration back to the workplace.

Sparsholt Business understands that in many cases ‘off the shelf’ training courses just aren’t specific enough for your business needs. Employers often tell us that they

are more interested in skill acquisition than formal qualifications. We can provide training solutions designed to address a particular problem in your workplace or around a specific project to improve business performance. Our specialist Business Managers get to know your business and ensure you get the right training and where available, the right funding. Their approach is client focused, spending time getting to know your business to put your needs at the forefront of solutions.

That is how we have built the many strong relationships we have with employers who come back to us time and again and trust us to create effective business solutions.

Please speak to one of our Business Managers on 0845 850 0916 or email [email protected]

NEW DIGITAL LEARNING DESIGN COURSES

Level 3 and Level 4 Diplomas in Digital Learning Design

Whilst the use of e-learning is growing in industry and education globally there is a big skills gap in the UK for the design and development of high quality online products despite high demand from education and industry.

Sparsholt College is part of a national e-learning partnership which has created an innovative qualification framework for training young people and adults as e-learning designers. The aim of these qualifications is to help the further education sector develop a skilled workforce who can create high quality e- learning products. The qualifications cover a mixture of areas from:

• IT

• Digital Media & Design

• Learning Pedagogies

• Cognitive Psychology as it relates to online learning

The qualification is available as an Apprenticeship or a part time course; individual units may also be taken separately. The course is delivered 50% online and 50% with college attendance.

For more information about the course please contact:Ursula Bailey on 01962 797 575 or email [email protected]
