INTRODUCTION
By Rick Comstock
Senior Pastor
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that
your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
1 Corinthians 15:58
Dear Church Family:
The words above sound almost like a contradiction; “be steadfast, immovable”, “always
abounding”. It is as if Paul is saying stand firm, but keep moving.
The reality is that doing the work of the Lord requires both depth and drive. You and I are to
have spiritual rooted-ness; unwavering convictions regarding the truth. It is that truth found in
God’s Word and in Christ Himself which compels us to move ahead in Kingdom work. The
deeper we go in God’s Word and God’s Son, the more energized we are for and in God’s
service. We both grow down and go forward at the same time.
And the service we do is “not in vain”, not for nothing, not a waste of time. To the contrary
ministry done here and now for Jesus Christ, regardless of its size (Matthew 10:42), has eternal
value and reward.
My prayer as you read this Annual Report is that you will be reminded of how faithful God has
been in helping us this past year to both stand firm and keep moving. May it also serve as an
encouragement to continue our growing down in Christ and going forward in His work in the
year ahead, knowing that all we do in, by and for Him counts for eternity.
For the glory of God,
Pastor Rick

MINISTRY REPORT
Pastor Rick Comstock
"The church is: a conspiracy of love for a dying world, a spy mission into enemy occupied
territory ruled by the powers of evil; a prophet from God with the greatest news the world has
ever heard, the most life changing and most revolutionary institution that has existed on earth."
Peter Kreeft
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
I love the words above as to "what the Church is", because they are true. We are all - lovers and
spies and prophets and life changers and revolutionaries - for God.
It may be true that each of us is only on the stage of history for a very brief period of time (Psalm
39:4, Job 7:6, James 4:14), but still we each have a part to act out in the drama of God's
redemption and restoration of the world. And we act it out in and through our participation in the
life of the local Church (Hebrews 10:23-25). Thank you for making ours a Church of influence and
impact in our community.
As we look forward to the challenges and victories of 2015 our focus can be summed up in three
words:
CONFORMITY: Romans 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18; 1 John 3:1-2 all point to the fact that God's
ultimate desire and intention for every one of His children is to be/become like His Son, Jesus
Christ; that as a result of the work of the Holy Spirit and the practice of our faith (doing the hard
work of - reading the Word, prayer, corporate worship, using our gifts and talents in ministry,
fellowship with other Christians, etc.), we are being transformed into His likeness. May each of us
look, live and love more like Jesus as this year goes on.
COMMUNITY: Someone said that the Church is where "People gather around Jesus. Nothing less
and so much more. Jesus is loved, you are loved, I am loved, life is shared, truth is spoken, grace is
poured out without exception, people are set free, and gifts are released." We are meant as the
Church to gather ourselves (Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:23-25) and others (Luke 14:23; John 4:35) in
community. So that the very things mentioned above can take place by the ministry of Christ and
His Spirit. Please make every effort this year to share as often as possible in the AFA community.
COMPASSION: As followers of Jesus, most of the thoughts we have ought to be of someone else.
The Christian life is meant to be given away to others (Titus 3:8; Matthew 25:34-40). It is to be an
expression of the love of God in tangible ways that testify to the reality of a good and gracious
God. Please avail yourself though the many ministries of this Church of every opportunity to show
our lost world that God is real and present here.
I would like to close by giving God thanks for the many wonderful people who help provide
leadership to our Church body. I have a truly amazing secretary, Jaynee Heck whose spiritual
insight and practical wisdom are a source of great encouragement and benefit to the Church as a
whole and to me personally. She is joined in the office by Donna Skinner, who manages the church
finances with skill and honesty, and by Laura Denes who works tirelessly to see that our church
facilities are well maintained and ready for ministry.
6
Our congregation is also fortunate to have wise and godly leadership from its Church Board. I’d
like to commend Pam Berry, Rick Curley, Carl Dawson, Dawn Espana, Erik Goble, and Kristin
Feavel for their integrity, their pursuit of God’s will, and their faithfulness in serving His people. I
want to thank the Elders - Art Amsk, Kathleen Goble, Rita Keefer, Rob McNerlin, Chuck Sites,
Maureen Townsend, and Nick & Laura Willison who faithfully labor in prayer for the Body and
serve us all through tangible acts of ministry. Some of my deepest appreciation goes out to Pastor
Kirkley and Beth Peterson and Pastor Garrett and Kristen Kruse. They are respectively, the very best
Children's and Youth Pastors any church could hope to have. Both of their ministries are marked by
continued spiritual and numerical growth. They are affecting the lives and destinies of countless kids
through the sacrifices they make and the work they do.
Finally, I'd like to thank my wife Phyllis, my partner in ministry for more than 39 years. She is the
great love of my life and the perfect helpmate for the work that God has called us to as ministers of
the Gospel.
Above all - Glory to God and to Christ and to the Holy Spirit - for the high, high privilege of being
entrusted as a Shepherd, with the souls of men and women. May He find me faithful at the end of
it all.
With the deep love of Jesus,
Pastor Rick Comstock

EPIC YOUTH MINISTRY
Pastor Garrett Kruse
Please be seated.
Are you comfortable? Do you want me to rub your feet? Do you need your reading glasses or are
you all set? I can’t really tell; you seem to be reading this just fine so let’s move on. The reason I
want you seated is for your own safety, because when you read about the year we’ve had as a
youth ministry, you might just explode with excitement and I don’t want you to hurt yourself or
those around you. You're welcome. In short, God moved in the lives of our middle school and
high school students in 2014 in a way that’s nothing short of EPIC.
I’d like to start with the Word of God. Not just because they tell you to always start there in Bible
College, but mostly because we’ve had some really incredible series this last year and I want to tell
you about them! We kicked off the year with “Level Up!” where we spent three months walking
through the book of Philippians verse by verse. Yeah, you read that right, three months. We
might be A.D.D. and über-caffeinated, but we take the Word of God seriously at EPIC Youth and
do crazy stuff like have a 3 month series, and it works! After that series, we caused a riot. No, not
a literal one, but our series “RIOT” challenged our students not to waste their lives doing nothing
with the short time God’s given them. Not when their friends are lost without God, not while there
are so many people who feel worthless or unlovable who desperately need to feel the love of
God, and not while our world is broken and crying out for someone to save them and we know
the Savior! Every week in the “RIOT” series, we went into our community and shared the love of
Jesus in different ways: We prayed with homeless people, wrote love letters sharing God’s love and
gave them to strangers, all kinds of awesome stuff! And people’s lives were changed!
Our summer series was “Smack Down”; a “golden-age of wrestling” themed exposition on battling
sin and temptation through Romans 8. Think Macho Man Randy Savage giving sin a pile-driver to
the face. Our final series of the year was “Veritas” which was a brief introduction into systematic
theology, while also discussing some of the most controversial topics of our time, such as the Bible’s
view on alcohol and marijuana, abortion, gender roles and the definition of marriage, and the
inerrancy of Scripture. If you’re a parent or just someone wanting to learn more about EPIC
Youth, I encourage you to check out our youth website where you can get a taste of what an EPIC
Youth service looks like by watching videos, viewing event pictures and listening to sermons (Links
to our sites are at the end of this report).
In 2014, God “broke the bank” as it were when it came to our main services on Wednesday nights.
We began the year meeting in Room 200 as always, until we literally ran out of chairs. So in the
summer, we officially transitioned into the sanctuary; there were just too many students! I cannot
thank Pastor Rick and every adult who attends a Wednesday night service enough for sacrificing
their space and agreeing to move so the youth could use the sanctuary space. I try to communicate
to our students as often as I can how lucky we are and how special it is that we have a church
family who sees their value and worth and would do something as crazy as let a bunch of middle
school and high school kids use the sanctuary as their service gathering location. All so more and
more of them could meet Jesus! Thank you church family!
8
We had some incredible events this last year! I’d like to highlight Youth Convention and Dinner &
A Show. Every year we attend our SoCal Network’s Youth Convention in San Diego. It’s a huge
gathering of thousands of students who worship together to their favorite worship bands, listen to
engaging messages from world renowned pastors and church leaders, and get hands-on teaching
from Christians who are experts in the fields of art, music etc. It’s the largest event we attend every
year, but it’s also the most costly. So we had crazy fundraising ideas… host a Dinner & A Show
where the students could showcase their talents, explain why Youth Convention and EPIC Youth
was so important to them, and then we would ask for special offerings and scholarships to help
them get to Youth Convention… trusting God that He would make a way for us to go. And He did,
BIG TIME…! We had over 230 people at the Dinner & A Show (we ran out of chairs! I guess that’s
something we’re making a habit of). You gave nearly $4,000 to support the students that wanted
and needed to get to Youth Convention! Our church answered the call and made that incredible
trip happen! Because of that, we were able to take a group of 26 to Youth Convention, a large
majority of whom were new to our church, and 5 of them came to faith in Jesus that weekend!
Since I’m sharing some pretty exciting numbers, here are a few more that really get me pumped up
for what God is doing in EPIC Youth:
Total Active Students in EPIC Youth Ministry: 145
Average Wednesday Night Attendance: 49 (Including Leaders)
Average Sunday Morning Attendance: 13(Including Leaders)
Number of Student Baptisms: 17
Total given to Speed The Light & World Vision: $1,392
Facebook Influence: 450 Likes of “EPIC Youth Ministry”
Unique EPIC Website/Podcast Views: 176 Views
Church family, you made this happen! By God’s grace, your giving, your prayers, your time and
encouragement for our students made 2014 so amazing. Every student that entered our church on
a Wednesday or Sunday morning had your fingerprints on their hearts when they left, because it is
because of you that their lives were changed! To my incredible leaders; Sid and Nora Rodriguez,
Kristin and Kyle Feavel, Alice Koski, Diana Rohde, Wendell Mathis, Matt Barton and Jennifer
Puckett, THANK YOU! Thank you for believing in this church and this ministry, thank you for your
countless hours leading our students, thank you for your patience and encouragement for me as I
try to figure this whole thing out, thank you for living out our core values and being passionate
Christ-followers that our students can have confidence in. And to my best friend, love of my life,
help-mate and official Starbucks buddy for life, my wife Kristen; Thank you for having the most
difficult ministry of all, being married to me! In addition to being an EPIC Youth leader and
mother! You strengthen me and fill me with passion more than anyone else can. You are such an
excellent leader and role model to our students and your compassion and laughter is absolutely
contagious, I love you with all my heart! May God continue to grow the two of us together as we
lead this incredible ministry. I know, as always, He’s just getting started!
STAY EPIC!

KIDS IN ACTION CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES, K – 6th GRADE
Pastor Kirkley Peterson
“We want kids who place their trust in God, not only in a moment, at VBS, on the last night of
camp but every day” #leadsmall
Create. Share. Guide. Teach. It’s What We Do.
It’s our mission, our vision for how we (as a church, as a team) do ministry at AFA and in the
community. Those four things are hardwired in the planning process, ministry time and events that
we do in our community. It’s written on our postcards, t-shirts, Facebook page and website. It’s
hard to miss. What does it mean? Simply put, we CREATE an irresistible and safe environment for
kids; we SHARE God’s unconditional love with as many kids as possible; we GUIDE kids as they
take the next step in their faith with Jesus; we TEACH God’s Word with enthusiasm and relevancy.
This is what we do, and we love doing it!
This past year we have had great success in connecting with our community through outreach
events such as the Egg Mazing Race. It was an event that showed the community that we cared for
them as well as brought multiple ministries serving alongside of each other. There has also been a
great deal of ministry connection time at events like the boys and girls all niters; a lot of fun and
food, but also a midnight service and times of relationship building. There was also the Christmas
Play “A Word Bird’s Christmas”. Kids were exercising their singing, dancing and acting gifts in front
of the whole church, family and friends. This is definitely something we look forward to doing this
coming year again. Thank you Amber Davis and Laura Brian and all the ladies behind the scene and
up front for making the play a huge success for our church and children’s ministry.
Special events are great and have their purpose, but what makes Kids In Action Ministries impacting
is our time with the kids from week to week. It’s during these times that we get to sit down, face to
face, and talk to kids about how their week was, what’s going on in their lives, talk about what
God is trying to teach them, etc. It’s great seeing the transformation in kids’ lives as they attend our
weekly ministries. It’s a blessing to see kids with all different backgrounds (single parents, divorced,
health issues, two parents, raised by grandparents, etc.) coming to AFA to hear of God’s
unconditional love! We have seen kids’ lives changed though the love and care of Children’s
Ministry leaders. It’s great seeing devoted leaders love on the kids, prepare (in their free time) for
lessons and give freely of their own finances to see kids have a personal relationship with Jesus.
Please give a high five, hug, hand shake or any form of greeting and appreciation to those that
wear the black staff shirts on Sundays and Wednesdays. Without them it wouldn’t be possible. I
love and appreciate them all!
It also wouldn’t be possible without the dedicated finances and support from the body of Christ
that is First Assembly. Thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement as we proceed
forward into a new year, looking forward to what God is going to do in the ministry, at the church
and in our community.
The Teams That Make Ministry Possible
A great quote from Andy Stanley says, “Students will not always remember what you say. They will
remember how you made them feel.” Thank you for pouring so much love into the lives of AFA’s
kids and the kids in our community. You Rock!

KIDS IN ACTION CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES, 0 – 4 YEARS
Christina Dawson
2014 was yet another year of change for the ministry in ECC. In the beginning of the year it was
babies, babies, and more babies. But, as the year wore on those babies became toddlers leaving our
infant room quietly vacant and our toddler room bustling with action. Our toddlers became
preschoolers eager to move to the "big kid side", and our preschoolers turned kindergarteners in a
bittersweet moment left us to join KIA.
In June, Sara Svenby decided to step down from her role as ECC director to care for her family's
newest addition. When I was approached and offered the position I was both honored and a little
unsure. Those were some big shoes to fill and being a leader wasn't exactly something that came
easy for me. After a lot of prayer and wrestling with my comfort zone, I felt this was where God
was leading me. With the help of Sara, Pastor Kirkley and the amazing ECC volunteers, the
transition went rather easy.
Although my time as director has been short, I have seen such love and faithfulness from our team
of volunteers. Our outstanding team of volunteers leading us into 2015 are Beth Peterson, Diana
Rohde, Kristen Kruse, Jennifer Puckett, Kyle Hastings, Rita Keefer, Jamie Mathis, Maria Brown,
Maureen Townsend, Terrie Winslow, Jody Hamby, Pam MacAdam, Karen Hamann, Vicki
Blankenship, Sara Svenby, and Debbie Dawson (who has taken on the amazing role of right hand
woman as the Assistant ECC Director). The impact each of these volunteers has on the lives of our
little ones is so crucial in building and shaping the Godly foundation their young lives need.
Every Sunday and Wednesday we teach Bible lessons in a way that is fun and engaging, we worship
God with song and dance, we pray with and for kids, we play and have loads of fun making arts
and crafts that reinforce our lesson. Watching the word of God take root in the hearts of our
children is a rewarding sight to behold. God continues to do amazing things in the ECC, and I look
forward to seeing all the wonderful things he has in store for 2015!

IMPACT GIRLS CLUB
Michelle Smith
Her Heart…Her World…His Purpose
In 2014 Girls Ministry had many changes. We went from several leaders to 2 leaders and a helper.
This also changed it from 4 classes to 1 class. Our ages range from 4yrs to 11yrs old. The girls have
embraced the changes and still continue to show their excitement to come every week. The older
girls have taken the younger girls under their wings and have helped them with crafts, games, and
giving them tips to be able to feel confidant to answer questions. It is so rewarding to see the girls
come together and help one another. It does not seem to bother them that we had to combine the
classes and put it into one lesson for all ages.
We always start the night off with our pledges and worship. We talk to the girls about how their
week went and if they have anything to share or prayer request that will be added in our prayer
time at the end of class.
With our lessons we have chosen to do the Stars Curriculum so the older girls will not get bored.
But we alter it so the younger girls will get something out of it as well on their level of learning. We
have questions and answer time every week to ensure they understand what we are teaching.
They have a snack every week and play a game. We also try to do a craft as much as possible as
well. We also have started a tradition to get in a circle and pray every evening at the end of the
night. At this time we do our prayer request and pray about protection for the upcoming week for
the girls and their family and friends. This allows the girls to be able to pray for anyone or anything
they want. I love it because encouraging them to talk to God builds their confidence in the power
of prayer.
We give out “Bucks” to the girls when they answer questions to encourage their involvement and
keep them engaged in the topics. Zenovia Cooks and I work well together and Aujae Morse is a
wonderful helper. They are awesome leaders. We take turns having only one of us doing the lesson
per month and the other does the game or craft. We also take turns bringing snack.
Some great things happening in Girls Ministry:
1. There are 9-12 girls that consistently attend, and we hope the group continues to grow.
2. The girls love coming and engaging in the lessons.
3. Our leader trio has stayed the same for several months without changing.
4. We have great support and encouragement from Pastor Kirkley every week
5. We have great communication with the parents.
In closing I feel the past year has went very well. We have developed closeness with the girls and
made the best of the situation with so many different age groups and changes. We hoped the class
will continue to grow and that the girls will someday become leaders themselves by learning from
our examples. We ask for your continued prayers that God will give us the knowledge and
guidance as to what He wants his children to learn. Thank you for the opportunity of entrusting us
with one of the greatest gifts on earth… your children!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT WORSHIP
Bruce Smith and Shari Ruvalcaba
God has blessed our mid-week services. We moved from the sanctuary to Room 200, to give the
youth room to grow. The move has created a smaller, more intimate arrangement, and has
fostered an accessible worship experience. We are a blessed team, with true hearts for worship,
dedication and consistency. It is a family, and most have ministered together for several years - in
this environment, as well as in other worship venues.
We rely heavily on the leading of the Holy Spirit to create a worship experience that draws the
team and people into a real time of intimacy with God. Shari mentors group members, helping
them step out of their comfort zones and help with the responsibilities of the worship experience.
Vicki chooses a hymn to integrate, and vocalists occasionally lead songs and read scriptures. These
activities have shown fruit, and will continue to be supported and encouraged.
When we moved to Room 200, the equipment took some adjusting to. The board needs attention,
additional wiring is needed, and amplification and monitoring need to be added. Also, there are
few microphones and cables. We work well with Pastor Garrett to share equipment, however we
do need equipment that is dedicated to Room 200.
Most importantly, we strongly feel that the unity and passion in the church has God building
momentum for us to push out into the community, to welcome those in need. The Wednesday
night worship team is very blessed to be serving together in the worship ministry at AFA.
SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP
Pam Blake
I want to thank my wonderful husband who has stood beside me for so many years as I have spent
so much time on the many worship teams I have been on throughout the years. I also want to
thank you for allowing me to be on your worship team here at AFA. I have had the privilege of
being on your worship team for about 25 years. Wow, how time has flown by.
One of my favorite scriptures is found in Philippians 3:13-14… “I am still not all I should be, but I
am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies
ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ
Jesus, is calling us up to heaven.” (NLT)
We don’t need wonderful voices or to be able to play an instrument, God just wants our worship,
and to have a heart for worship. He looks at the heart, not our talent, or lack of. Some worship
quietly, some with a lot of excitement. I think there is a time and place for both. Remembering,
God is looking at the heart of our worship. I want to encourage you to take part in our time of
worship in song. I would love to see worshipers up front with arms raised worshiping God. I know
it is stepping out of your comfort zone, but hey, we all need to do it sometime and what better
reason than to Worship?!!
Thank you to our teams for their countless hours given on Wednesdays and Sundays:
Worship: Jan Bewley, Bill Bilek, Pam Blake, Vicki Blankenship, Phyllis Comstock, Ed Costa, Daniel
Dawson, Steve Denes, Gloria Duveneck, Carla Emanuelson, Pastor Garett Kruse, Renee McNerlin,
Jim Pinard, Shari Ruvalcaba, PJ Sawyer, Bill Snider, Bruce Smith, and Aaron Svenby
Tech: Jan Bewley, Erik & Kathleen Goble, Patrick Sumner, and Mike & Rita Sweet

MEN'S MINISTRIES
Pastor Rick Comstock
Steve Lawson in his book The Legacy, writes:
"Every man leaves a lasting influence . . .
that will affect future generations for centuries to come.
But let’s face it, not all legacies are the same,
some are productive, others are destructive,
some are illustrious, others are infamous.
What kind of a legacy will you leave behind?
A spiritual legacy is one that money can’t buy and taxes can’t take away,
it is passing down to the next generation what matters most."
The Men's Ministry of Atascadero First Assembly exists to help men create and leave a godly legacy
for their families, friends and community.
We do that by providing ongoing opportunities for spiritual growth, making new friendships and
finding places in ministry to employ their God-given gifts and talents:
Throughout the year we offer:
Weekly Men's Bible Studies
Monthly Men's Breakfasts
Regular Recreational or Fellowship Activities
A Yearly Men's Retreat
Opportunities for Missions Ministry or Community Service
We want to express our gratitude too Matt Sumner, Pat Kelly, Erik Goble, and Bruce Emanuelson
who provided the primary leadership for Men's Ministry in 2014; as well as to all those who
worked behind the scenes to make Men's Ministry an effective tool to use in transformation,
renewal and growth of men's lives.

WOMEN’S MINISTRIES
Diana Rohde
There were a lot of meaningful gatherings last year for the women of First Assembly:
The monthly Game Night (the first Friday of each month), is a great success. There are some
regulars, some from other churches, and some non-churched ladies that attend. Everyone seems to
have a lot of fun and there is much laughter.
With regards to the Women’s Retreat, it actually didn’t go too well financially, however it was a
great time of ministry and fellowship. We had hoped to try to continue Retreat as an annual
weekend event, but we are instead considering either full-day or half-day events, that might work
out better for everyone’s schedule.
This was my 3rd year facilitating the Mother & Daughter Tea. We always have a limited number of
seats, and there is always a good turn out. It is often the same ladies that attend each year, and we
will think about a 4th season.
The Craft Fair was a successful fundraiser; it recouped the loss of the retreat and funded the
Holiday party. Unfortunately, though, it wasn’t too successful for the vendors. Even though the
vendors assured me events like this can be hit-and-miss, we didn’t appreciate gaining from their
loss.
The Holiday Party seems to be a hit. Though the prep and execution of the event was great, we
had less of a turn out this year than in the past. We are making adjustments and new plans for
2015. It too may have run its course. However, on the flip side, we had different guests attend this
year so that was nice and we had it in the sanctuary.
We are looking to revamp Women’s Ministry in 2015, looking forward to adding more women to
the leadership team and planning for great fellowship and ministry times.
16
IGNITE THE FIRE WOMEN’S MINISTRY (ITF)
Kathleen Goble
We meet twice each month (first and third Mondays - upstairs in Room 200 from 6:30 to 8:00
pm). When the opportunity is available, we also meet in a private home. This team is led by Laura
Willison, Kathleen Goble and Maureen Townsend.
The intent of ITF is to provide a time of worship, fellowship, community, prayer (with occasional
teaching) and soaking in the presence of the Lord. Our hope for this ministry is to instill a passion
for Jesus so that women will seek God deeper and experience the love and power of God daily in
their lives.
During ministry time we can expect attendance to range from 5-15 with an estimated average of 7-
8 in attendance including leadership. The agenda typically includes an opening prayer, praise and
worship (using a DVD such as Hillsong) and either a teaching and/or individual prayer. Prayer is
usually accomplished by breaking up into smaller groups of 2-3, depending upon group size.
One of our challenges has been starting and ending the meeting on time. It is likely that attendance
can be encouraged and increased by adhering to a predictable format and schedule.
We do everything that we can do get the word out about our ministry, with promotions on
Sundays, flyers, posters, Facebook and text reminders. The ministry team has enjoyed seeing new
women attend this past year. We hope you will join us this year, and help us to spread the word
about this amazing ministry opportunity for women!

COMMUNITY MEAL
Diana Rohde
There are many reasons this ministry is a great success. It is self-supported financially, there are
consistent helpers, and consistent attendees. Yes, there is always room for improvement, however, I
don’t think Room 200 could hold very many more people.
Although it is somewhat difficult to prepare and estimate just how many people will come (and
make sure there is enough food), the guests seem very thankful and I think this is a great outreach.
BENEVOLENCE
Pamala Berry
Nearly every week there are people that show up at our church office or place phone calls to the
staff asking for someone to listen, someone to care, someone to help, or someone to encourage,
and pray with them.
First Assembly has continued to respond to the needs of the people in times of personal difficulty.
What follows is a list of just some of the benevolence requests we (you!) responded to in 2014.
Our pastoral & office staff and I work together to do what we can. Last year:
* we helped 4 families/individuals needing emergency accommodations.
* we helped put a few gallons of gasoline in empty car tanks.
* we paid for a campsite for a group of homeless people teamed up, taking care of each other.
* we assisted 8 families with past-due utility bills.
* we assisted someone in need of obtaining their birth certificate.
* we assisted someone in need of a replacement ID card.
* we helped pay for a car registration.
* numerous broken down cars were repaired, and we helped get folks back on the road.
* we assisted a family with moving, including storage expenses.
* there was a need of clothing, so we took them to Goodwill and covered the cost.
* somebody couldn’t afford their prescriptions... and you paid for them.
Thank you for giving to Benevolence!
Acts 4:8-10
“Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: ‘Rulers and elders of the people! If we are
being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being
asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of
Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man
stands before you healed.’”

PRAYER AND HEALING ROOMS
Laura Willison
The purpose of this ministry is to come alongside those who are hurting. The Lord asks us to lay
down our burdens at the feet of the Cross; we are not to carry them alone. When people come to
the prayer and healing rooms, they are walking in obedience to this and laying down their burdens
so that they can be set free. Lives are changed and deeply touched by God through the power of
prayer; where two or more gather together in prayer, God is in the mist and His glory flows! We
have had many testimonies in the prayer rooms; there have been many physical, emotional, and
spiritual healings, and it has been amazing watching God touch lives and move mountains!
We offer prayer in the prayer rooms after each service every Sunday. We average one to three
people coming up to receive prayer after each service. When people come up for prayer they are
greeted by our hostess and brought into the soaking room to prepare for prayer. There is a
questionnaire to be filled out to help the prayer teams pinpoint the prayer need.
Prayer teams are in the prayer rooms “ready and prayed up” to minister to all who come up. There
is a team captain who will lead the time with questions from the questionnaire and how ever else
God leads. There is usually a 2-3 person team praying for each recipient in a room. Each prayer
member will take time ministering to the recipient as God leads. As a team, God really moves and
it is powerful!
God is touching lives in the upper rooms! He is showing His love, grace, strength, peace, and
healing touch upon those who come and seek Him.
Our prayer teams are also available to pray in services and on occasions when prayer is needed.
Lately, God has really been moving and the need to have teams ready is growing; praises God!
The area that we are struggling in now is the amount of prayer warriors we have. It seems that a
few are over committed, or are no longer available.
Nick and I are trying to recruit more prayer warriors; we are am hoping more people will join our
teams. We will train up any new intercessors.
Our Amazing Prayer Team:
Chuck Sites, Dan Sullivan, Eddie Grace, Gary Umphenour, Kecia Ruda, Mark Sobowits, Maureen
Townsend, Mike & Dee Griffith, Pam Berry, Rebecca Bucciaga, Terrie Winslow, Nick & Laura
Willison
We thank the Lord for the power of prayer and that He would choose to use us for His
extraordinary work! God is good!
This ministry is hosted by Nick and Laura Willison and powered by JESUS!

24-7 PRAYER
Maureen Townsend
The purpose of 24-7 Prayer is to encourage individuals to spend time in intercessory prayer with
particular focus, such as: church family, pastors, those in need of salvation, healing, financial needs,
government, military, persecuted church, and missionaries. The goal is to daily cover the Body of
Christ in soaking prayer.
Prayer time details vary per individual. Most pray for around 15-60 minutes every week, in their
own personal setting of choice, knowing that the Lord will reward prayer in the "secret place."
Promotion has been by significant display on the back wall of the church sanctuary and occasional
emails. Prayer guides if needed are available on the church website under Adult/Prayer, which
cover various topics, and are also available as copied sets upon request. The beginning of the year
and in the fall have also presented with church promotional prayer events.
More than 50 have been participating.
Individuals are on their own to spend time with the Lord in intercession with an outward focus on
the benefit of His Kingdom purposes and the Body of Christ, until Jesus returns. Brothers and sisters
in Christ are encouraged to focus on the areas in prayer as described above.
Improvements would be to encourage sharing with pastoral staff any insights gained when praying.
Also for those participating, it would be helpful to receive a periodic email of meaningful prayer
teachings/encouragements from prayer "giants" of the past such as Andrew Murray and Reese
Howells. Another aspect would be to link the Saturday night intercession to become the group
culmination for weekly prayer birthed from individual prayer sessions. Finally the back prayer wall
in the sanctuary is undergoing refurbishment and revision.

BIBLE GUIDES IN 365
Maureen Townsend
Varies based upon daily participation by individuals at place of personal choice.
Purpose: To promote the church family to be in the Word daily in small enough sections to
enhance meditation, prayer/receiving personal revelation "commentary" from Holy Spirit, and
journaling.
Promotion has been by placing the printed guides on many of the seats in the sanctuary on the last
(or sometimes first) Sunday of the month. They are also placed on the back table for the duration
of the month, as well as posted on the church website under Bible Resources.
About 70 guides are taken each month from the church.
The guides started two years ago with the Gospel Guide in 365. This is a chronological coverage of
all four Gospels simultaneously, broken into 365 small segments starting in December with the birth
of Christ as covered in all the Gospels. The next year added the Acts to Revelation Guide in 365.
An improvement would be to expand to the Old Testament now that all of the New Testament
has been covered and to occasionally announce its presence on Sunday morning when it is on the
seats.

FINANCES
Rick Curley, Treasurer
Atascadero First Assembly of God’s Pastors, Staff and Board of Directors would like to thank the
congregation for your generous and faithful giving throughout 2014. Your generosity enabled us to
continue to support our World Outreach programs which include our benevolence giving, the food
pantry, community outreach, general council giving, as well as our monthly support of over 40
world-wide missionaries and their works. We were also able to support our adult, youth and
children ministries, as well as maintain and improve our facilities. God is great!
Our 2014 income from tithes and offerings was $392,813, with total expenses of $446,808,
resulting in a net loss of $51,601 for the year. Praise the Lord the church had a significant amount of
cash left in the general fund from previous years. That coupled with savings of over $100,000
allowed the board to support the various repairs and upgrades to the facilities and still provide the
full budgeted amounts for all of the ministries! The cost of facility improvements in 2014 totaled
$22,371. These included new stairs & landing, a new utility room, new handicap restroom and
new sewer & gas lines. We wish to thank the faithful volunteers who assisted in the completion of
these and many other maintenance projects, allowing us to diminish expenses and keep our facility
safe and inviting.
In the past, we utilized an account titled Pass Through. This account was used for monies donated
for specific purposes, such as our new Welcoming Center, as well as monies deposited for specific
events, such as men’s, women’s and couple’s retreats, and youth trips. The deposits and
withdrawals of this account have been closely monitored. Beginning 2015, it has been decided that
this account will be eliminated, and all donations, deposits and withdrawals will be reported on the
Income Statement and Balance Sheet.
The 2015 budget* has been created with a conservative spirit, but allowing continued support of
our ministries, and completing necessary repairs to our church.
We continue to wait for God’s direction regarding the development of the Del Rio property. Its
value is now well over $1,000,000.
We thank God for His faithfulness and stand upon His promise in Ephesians 2:19-22 “So then you
are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's
household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself
being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy
temple in the Lord.”
*Detailed Profit and Loss and the Annual Budget are open to the congregation and available for
review in the church office by appointment.
