I am honored to welcome you to our town and hope you enjoy your time in THE City of Lakes, beautiful Fairmont, MN.
With our five lakes and open prairies, we offer something for everyone throughout the year. You can enjoy the winter months by ice fishing, cross country skiing or snowmobiling. During the summer bring your boat to water ski or simply travel the lakes and take in the views – and don’t forget your fishing pole! There are also sev-eral trails for walking or biking, and we are very proud of our numerous city parks.
Whether you are here for a few hours or several days, there are many community activities to enjoy. Spend the day shopping or play golf at one of our two beautiful local courses; swim at our Aquatic Park or watch the sunset over the lake; eat at one of the many restaurants or simply go out and enjoy the night life.
From those of us that call Fairmont home, we hope your stay will be the first of many and we extend a warm southern Minnesota welcome to you. Enjoy your stay - we’re glad you’re here!

Whether it is spring, summer, fall or winter there is always a reason to take a one day adventure to Martin County. No matter what your hobby, Mar-tin County has everything to offer and much more.
You can plan a trip around one of our area town festivals, such as the In-terlaken Heritage Days or Sherburn Holiday Festival in June; Fairmont Glows Festival in November; Welcome Summer Festival, Trimont Fun-Fest and Truman Days in July; or Ceylon Community Days in April.
Have you heard about our area Barn Quilts? Barn quilts are colorful paint-ed squares that are hung on buildings. Most quilt designs are traditional but some families design theirs with family heritage in mind. The Barn Quilt tour is an easy twelve mile drive to view all the Barn Quilts located around the Truman area. There are tons of locations in the County to visit. Maps are located at the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce.
Maybe you are one of those people that like history. We have a number of historic sites including eight sites that are listed on the Minnesota National Register. There also are nine markers of all the Lost Towns throughout Mar-tin County. Stop into the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce for a map. We also have several locations that

sell antiques. No matter what kind of history buff you are, we think you will be able to find something to suit you.
If you are one of those people that like it cold, we have a treat for you. Martin County offers 140 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, for those snowmobiling enthusiasts. If you are someone that likes to fish we have many lakes that you can fish to your hearts desire. For those of you that might like cross country skiing or snowshoeing, Cedar Creek Park has miles of wooded trails that you can discover. Snowshoe rentals are available through Fairmont CER.
Do you like the water? Martin County has forty-nine lakes to fish, swim, canoe or boat on. There also are places to camp right on a few of the lakes located in the county. Fairmont alone has a chain of five lakes with four of those lakes interconnected. If you don’t like the lake there always is room at one of our two pools which are located in Truman and Sherburn; and then you have the Aquatic Park located in Fairmont. So no matter what you fancy, Martin County has something for you.
Have an ATV and looking for a place to ride? Come check out Elm Creek ATV Trail. This seven-mile trail sys-tem is situated entirely on private land. The narrow, meandering trail weaves through the woodlands along Elm Creek and crosses the creek several times. An open field practice track is also provided on the south side of the site. The area offers a fun riding experience for the entire family on a well-maintained club trail system.
Maybe you’re not into water but still want some fun in the sun. Martin County offers three golf courses, two eighteen hole courses located in Fairmont and then one ninehole course located in Sherburn. Or maybe Disc golf is more your style; Fairmont offers two 18-hole disc golf course in Cedar Creek Park. Stop at the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce for discs.

Seasonal RecreationSummer ( June - August):How about some fun in the sun? If you desire water to have fun, Martin County is the place to be. Martin County offers 49 lakes, as well as an Aquatic Park and two pools. Whether you like to go boating, canoeing, swimming, skiing, fishing and the list can go on...make Martin County your destination. Maybe the lake isn’t your thing but you still want some fun in the sun. Fairmont offers two 18 hole disc golf courses at Cedar Creek Park. Or you can hit the trails for a lovely summer walk; Martin County offers trails at Cedar Creek, Bright, Timberlane or Cedar-Hanson Parks. Fall (September - November):What a beautiful time of the year to watch nature change. No matter how you want to get around to view the beautiful colors of fall, Martin County has a place to go. Stop out and visit one of our apple orchards in the area. There is Timberlake Orchard and Center Creek Orchard. Check out the scenes in a park, go out on the lake or just drive around the countryside. If you like to hunt Martin County is for you. If you need a little practice on the shooting range, the Fairmont Trap Club will be able to help. With all the lakes in the county, water fowl are everywhere. From Canadian Geese to ducks, find a spot on one of the many public hunting areas and wait; it won’t take long. Maybe you like to hunt White-Tail Deer or Pheasant; with such a large agricultural community the deer and pheasants love to congregate in our county.

Lakes & BeachesBeaches:Does fun in the sun sound like something you would enjoy? Well, Martin County has some public beaches that might just help with that. You can float, splash or just sit in the sand; no matter what you are plan-ning on doing with your time, why not spend that time near the water?
• Fairmont Gomsrud Park ~ South Side of Budd Lake and North Side of Hall Lake Located in the middle of town, this park has a lot to offer. There are two beaches located on the north and south sides of the park. These beaches are well maintained by the city’s park department.• East Chain Wolter Park ~ North Side of East Chain Lake Located in a small, quaint little village, Wolter Park is a park which is maintained with the assistance of the East Chain 4-H Club. This park is a clean, friendly place to dream your day away.• Trimont Cedar Hanson Park ~ North Side of Clear Lake This park is the largest county park; located north of Trimont. This park offers approximately one mile of shoreline. • Minnesota/Iowa Border Klessig Park ~ East Side of Iowa Lake This park might be small, but it does see alot of traffic. This is a perfect place to swim, fish and have a picnic.
Lakes:Martin County has 49 lakes to choose from. No matter what you would like to do on the lakes, it won’t be hard to find one to suit your taste.

Area PoolsEven though Martin County has 49 lakes to choose from for fun, there are a couple of pools and even an Aquatic Park that are available for your enjoyment. If you like a pool that leaves you with some fun in the sun, Truman offers an outdoor pool that is for you. This pool offers a slide, diving board and wading pool.
Maybe you like the kind of pool that is indoors. Well Martin County West has the pool for you that is located in the Sherburn school. This pool is handicap accessible and also has a diving board. It you like to use exercise or recreational equipment, that is available to use as well.
If you like an outdoor pool that is a little more private, Fairmont has something for you. The Chain of Lakes Yacht Club has a heated pool with a slide, diving board and toddler pool. Truly a place to experience while in Fairmont.
Last but not least, Fairmont offers outdoor fun at our Aquatic Park. There is a zero-depth pool for the younger kids; which is loaded with interactive water features. For the older kids there are basketball hoops, lap pool, plunge pool that offers two super slides, and a diving pool. You could spend the whole day at this fun in the sun park.
