THIS WEEK’S STORYLINES • Border Crossing The Albany Devils make just their second trip to Toronto in franchise history when they face the Marlies for a pair of weekend games. Both Saturday and Sunday’s contests are slated for 3 pm. The Devils first and only trip to Ricoh Coliseum was on Dec. 10, 2012 – a 4-1 loss. • Danis To Carry The Load Veteran Yann Danis is expected to see the majority of acon for the foreseeable future with Sco Wedgewood sidelined with an ankle sprain. Danis, who was the 2012 AHL’s Goaltender of the Year, made 28 saves in his Albany debut Saturday. The 34-year-old is just four games away from his 400th professional game. Entering last Saturday’s contest, he had a 166-123-34 AHL record with a 2.63 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage in 342 contests. • New Faces Saturday’s opening-night roster at Binghamton featured eight players who made their AHL Devils debut: Joseph Blandisi, Blake Coleman, Yann Danis, Marc-Andre Gragnani, Ryan Kujawinski, Jim O’Brien, Blake Piela and Corey Tropp. Of that group, Blandisi, Coleman, Kujawinski and Piela are rookies. • Tropp Joins Devils Corey Tropp was added to the Devils roster the day before the season began. The Chicago Blackhawks, who Tropp is under contract with, reassigned the right winger from the Rockford IceHogs to the Devils. At Binghamton, the 26-year-old skated on a line with Rod Pelley and Chris McKelvie. Tropp has appeared in 103 career AHL games and 148 NHL games. At the AHL level, he has 66 points with 21 goals and 45 helpers. During his career he has logged 325 AHL games and 74 NHL contests. During the 2010-11 season, he won the Eddie Shore Award as the AHL’s best defenseman and was named to the AHL First All-Star Team.

• Fitzgerald’sDevilsTakeTheIceTomFitzgeraldwasnamedthesecondGeneralManagerinfranchisehistory on Sept. 4. He had been appointed the New Jersey Devils AssistantGeneralManageronJuly24afterspendingeightseasonswiththePittsburghPenguinsorganization,winningaStanleyCupin2009.A forward, Fitzgerald’s professional playing career spanned 17 seasons in both the AHL and NHL.
