ANZAC DAY 2016 On Friday morning the members of the Student Representative Council, led by Mrs. Victoria Heffernan and Mrs. Phyllis Zwar, conducted

our Anzac Day service. The focus of the service was one of remembrance of former students of Edenhope State School who were lost in

World War One. The School Captains, Dulcie Shirrefs and Colin Brown Taylor were given the honour of laying the first wreath on the

Memorial Stone which commemorates those fallen students. Sharni Julian designed the wreath using native flowers from Mr. Brett

McDonald. We thank the Edenhope RSL, West Wimmera Shire and The Duke of Edinburgh Award program for making the purchase of

the Memorial Stone, plaque and the Lone Pine possible.

Jasmin Tucker a member of a School Leadership program focussed on the Anzac Centenery, presented our Principal, Ms.Robyn Hollis

with a Lone Pine tree which will shortly be planted at the College.

All members of the SRC took part in the service, whilst Brock Summerhayes assisted with the traditional flag raising and Robert Wall

played the ’Last Post’.

The College community will present the RSL with a considerable sum of money, raised through the sales of Anzac badges at the College.

Sunday the 1st of May Lake Charlegrark sees a convergence of artistically talented people from across the region descend on the lake

foreshore.

The West Wimmera Shire Council, along with the Kaniva, Edenhope and Goroke Colleges as well as the Desert Edge Art Gallery’s Karen

Wiseman are working together to bring a feast of art of all genres.

The day will commence at 10.00am with the Paint the Lake fun run commencing at 10.30am; this makes for a great start to the day and is

open to people of all ages. This year we have a prize for the best dressed and the best team so gather a group together and rock up in your

tutu. Paint the Lake always creates a fun atmosphere.

A variety of activities have been organised for young people to enjoy throughout the day.

Lukey’s Boathouse will be there with their boats and zorb balls on the lake, a giant slide, gladiator ring as well as a blow up boxing ring

will be on offer for those who are game.

The Bordertown Dragon boat crew will be bringing their dragon boat to Lake Charlegrark, people of all ages are welcome to have a try.

Street Artist Richard Lavender is coming from “DaKlinic” in Adelaide to lead two street art workshops. Preference will be given to

students 16 years and above, the first workshop will commence at 11.30am with the second workshop commencing at 1.30pm. Pre

bookings for this workshop would be appreciated.

We welcome our artist in residence this year Lillieth Guise from Kaniva College. Lillieth works in pen and ink. Please make her feel

welcome in the exhibition hall.

If you would like to register to take part in any of the events happening at Youth Art @ Charlegrark please go to our Facebook page or

contact Amanda Munn at West Wimmera Shire Council on (03) 53927700

A reminder to parents to supply an explanation note when your child returns to school after being absence. The Department of Education

and Training requires all student absences to be coded into their Attendance program. Coding is decided by the reason why your child was

absent i.e. illness, dental appointment, personal reasons etc. If no explanatory note is received the absence is classed as an Unexplained

Absence and can be referred to DET, if these are occurring regularly. If you have plans that require your child to be away for a large

amount of time i.e.5 days or more, please advise us prior to the absence so that teachers can supply on going work for the student if

necessary. Absences can be advised via a hand written note, school supplied Absence Note, phone call to the office or Xuno. It would be

appreciated that any verbal communication of absences to a teacher be followed up with a signed note. Thank you for your co operation.
