A sincere welcome at the University College of Teacher Education Vienna/Krems!
The foundation of the University College of Teacher Education of Christian Churches in Vienna and Krems about ten years ago has proved to be a project unique in the whole of Europe. Seven churches acting as stake holders, its orientation being international, the college provides professional training facilities for teachers of specific subject areas as well as religious education. With regard to life-long learning initial teacher training and continuous teacher training programmes are offered. Our pluralistic attitude is not only reflected in the various religious groups at the college, but also in the five campus locations spread across two provinces.
In the future we will focus increasingly on interreligious relations. Beginning in autumn 2016, Muslim and Jewish training programmes of initial teacher education will be integrated and will provide opportunities to study the diversity of Abrahamic religions and to contribute to a peaceful, pluralistic evolution of our society.
With this brochure we would like to give you a first insight into our institution. I would be very pleased if we could raise your interest in our college and in our teaching programmes. Grüß Gott an der Kirchlichen Pädagogischen Hochschule Wien/Krems!
Die Gründung der Kirchlichen Pädagogischen Hochschule (KPH) Wien/Krems vor rund 10 Jahren war und ist immer noch ein europaweit einzigartiges Projekt. Ökumenisch von sieben Kirchen getragen und international ausgerichtet, qualifizieren wir für die pädagogischen und religionspädagogischen Berufsfelder. Im Sinne eines lebensbegleitenden Lernens organisieren wir die Erstausbildung von Pä-dagogInnen und bieten diesen laufende Fortbildungen. Unsere Pluralität wird nicht nur durch die ver-schiedenen Konfessionen, sondern auch durch unsere fünf Standorte in zwei Bundesländern sichtbar.
Zukünftig wenden wir uns verstärkt dem interreligiösen Dialog zu. Mit der geplanten Integration der islamischen und jüdischen ReligionslehrerInnenbildung ab Herbst 2016 geben wir die Möglichkeit, die Vielfalt der abrahamitischen Religionen vertieft zu studieren und leisten damit einen Beitrag für die friedvolle, pluralistische Entwicklung unserer Gesellschaft.

Die ökumenische Zusammenarbeit macht unsere Hochschule als größte Kirchliche Pädagogische Hochschule Österreichs zu einer einmaligen Bildungseinrichtung. Die Erzdiözese Wien hat die Kirchliche Pädagogische Hochschule Wien/Krems errichtet und erhält diese gemeinsam mit der Diözese St. Pölten und der Evangelischen, der Griechisch-Orientalischen, den Orientalisch-Orthodoxen und der Altkatho-lischen Kirche Österreichs.
Ecumenical cooperation makes university college, which is the biggest University College of Teacher Education in Austria, a unique educational institution in Europe. The Archdiocese of Vienna established the University College of Teacher Education Vienna/Krems (KPH) and maintains it together with the Diocese of St Pölten and the Protestant, Greek-Oriental, Oriental-Orthodox and Old Catholic Churches of Austria.

Gesellschaftliche Vielfalt, ethnisch, kulturell, religiös, sprachlich, ist eines der großen Themen der nächsten Jahrzehnte. Aufgrund seiner besonderen historisch-geografischen Lage im „Herzen Europas“ blickt Wien auf eine lange Tradition des interkulturellen Dialoges und des interreligiösen Austausches zurück. Vor diesem Hintergrund ist die Kirchliche Pädagogische Hochschule Wien/Krems als ökumenische Bildungseinrichtung auf die gegenwärtigen und zukünftigen Herausforderungen gut vorbereitet. Mit Expertise und Exzellenz stellt sie sich in den Dienst der Aus-, Fort- und Weiterbildung von LehrerInnen. Denn im Sinne des christlichen Menschenbildes stehen im Lehren und Lernen der KPH Wien/Krems pädagogische und anthropologische Fragestellungen in einer Wechselwirkung und initiieren verantwortungsvolles Denken, Handeln und Leben.

Bringing the talents bestowed on us by God to fruition and gaining more – this simile from the New Testament does not only hold true for everyone of us. It is also one of the best “job descriptions” of the teaching profession. The University College of Teacher Education of Christian Churches, originally founded by the Archdiocese of Vienna, is devoted to the vocation to offer a large variety of learning opportunities for teachers. In its own unique way the college shares this attitude with other denominations and religions. This is a beacon of hope, not just for us, but for the whole of Europe. May the University College of Teacher Education of Christian Churches be guided by the spirit of mutual enrichment and cooperation!

Metropolit Arsenios von Austria, Exarch von Ungarn und Mitteleuropa
Seit Jahren kooperieren die Orthodoxe Kirche in Österreich und die KPH Wien/Krems in der pädagogischen Ausbildung junger Menschen in unserem Land. Diese gemeinsame Tätigkeit ist in der Tat eine gesegnete und segensreiche Tätigkeit. Orthodoxe Lehrende an der KPH Wien/Krems vermitteln orthodoxe Glaubens-inhalte an Studierende, die wiederum als Religionslehrerinnen und -lehrer ihr erworbenes Wissen an Schülerinnen und Schüler weitergeben. Auf diesem Wege gestalten alle Beteiligten unsere Gesellschaft in Österreich aktiv und konstruktiv mit, indem sie Liebe, Glaube, Hoffnung, Toleranz und Solidarität unter die Menschen, insbesondere Jugendliche, tragen. In all diesen Aktivitäten ist die KPH Wien/Krems ein verlässlicher und engagierter Partner der Orthodoxen Kirche in Österreich, die auch in Zukunft eine fruchtbare Fortsetzung erfahren möge.

Die Ausbildungsstätten unserer orientalischen Mitchristen liegen in den Heimat-ländern meist in Trümmern oder sind verwaist. Unsere Kirche ist eine Märtyrer-kirche geworden. Das Christsein hat sich in unseren Tagen massiver Verfolgung extrem zugespitzt. Die KPH Wien/Krems kann das Bewusstsein dieses Ernstes schärfen und die Gesinnung des Glaubenszeugnisses fördern. Die orientalisch-orthodoxe Ausbildung legt besonderen Wert auf die Kenntnis der christlichen Wurzeln und fördert sie durch intensives Studium der hl. Schrift und der orientalischen Kirchenväter. Die KPH Wien/Krems bietet daher die Chance, dass sich die Studenten in einer wahren Ökumene auf den Kern unseres Glaubens besinnen.
Bischof Dr. Heinz Lederleitner, Bischof der Altkatholischen Kirche Österreichs Bildung ist der Schlüssel für ein gelungenes Leben. Sinngemäß nach dem Wiener Dramatiker Johann Nestroy braucht es viel, „damit aus einem Menschen ein Mensch wird“. Diesem Programm hat sich die KPH Wien/Krems verschrieben. Zukünftige Pädagogen sind Idealisten mit Realitätssinn, beides gilt es zu stärken: den Idealismus mit seiner visionären Kraft und den Realismus mit seiner Bodenhaftung. Christlich gesprochen: Göttliches und allzu Menschliches treffen in Gesellschaft und Schule aufeinander, daher sind manche Lebenswege mitunter auch Kreuzwege. Das darf in den gottesdienstlichen Feiern zur Sprache kommen, stets verbunden mit der österlichen Dimension der Auferstehung. Denn dies gibt Kraft zum heilsamen Handeln. Ich wünsche der KPH Wien/Krems weiterhin den Segen des Gottes und die Stimmung des christlichen Humanismus, den ich bei den ökumenischen Feiern zusammen mit ProfessorInnen und StudentInnen atmo-sphärisch erlebt habe.

The schools and colleges of our fellow Oriental Christians have mostly been devastated or deserted. Our church has become a church of martyrs. Christians are exposed to severe persecution these days. The University College of Teacher Education of Christian Churches can raise awareness of this serious situation and can help to foster an attitude of this testimony.Oriental-orthodox education focuses on the knowledge of the Christian roots and enhances this awareness through the study of the Bible and the texts of oriental Church Fathers. Studying at the University College of Teacher Education is there-fore a good opportunity for students to become aware of the core of our faith in the true spirit of ecumenism.
Metropolit Arsenios of Austria, Exarch of Hungary and Central Europe
For years the Orthodox Church in Austria and the University College of Teacher Education have been cooperating in teacher education. This cooperation is a blessed and fruitful enterprise. Orthodox lecturers at the University College teach Orthodox doctrines to students who in turn will pass on their knowledge to their pupils. That way all people concerned contribute to shape our society in an active and constructive way by sharing their love, hope, faith, tolerance and solidarity with the people, especially the younger generation. In all these activities the University College of Teacher Education is a reliable and dedicated partner of the Orthodox Church in Austria. May this continue in a fruitful way in the future.

Education is the key to a happy and successful life. Or as the Viennese dramatist Johann Nestroy put it, „it takes a lot to turn a person into a human being“. This is – in short – the teaching programme of the University College of Teacher Education Vienna/Krems. Future teachers ought to be idealists with a sense of reality and hence both of these aspects need to be trained and fostered: Idealism with its visionary powers and realism as a firm foundation. In Christian terms: Divine and human aspects meet in school and society, sometimes representing crossroads, sometimes turning lives into a Way of the Cross. These aspects can be addressed in religious services – always, however, in relation to Christ‘s resurrection in the true spirit of Easter. For this is the source of our salvation. I sincerely wish the University College of Teacher Education God‘s blessings and an atmosphere of Christian humanism, as I have experienced it during the ecumenical services with teaching staff and students.

Die Angebote der Ausbildung der KPH Wien/Krems richten sich an zukünftige LehrerInnen im Bereich der Primarstufe oder im Bereich der Sekundarstufe Allgemeinbildung sowie an angehende ReligionslehrerInnen der beteiligten Konfes-sionen. Die beiden Standorte in Wien-Strebersdorf und Krems-Mitterau bieten derzeit folgende Studiengänge an:
• Lehramt im Bereich der Primarstufe (240 EC, 8 Semester + Masterstudium)
• Lehramt für Neue Mittelschulen (180 EC, 6 Semester) auslaufend
• Lehramt für Sonderschulen (180 EC, 6 Semester) auslaufend
• Lehramt für Volksschulen (180 EC, 6 Semester) auslaufend
• Lehramt für Religion an Pflichtschulen (180 EC, 6 Semester oder berufsbegleitend) auslaufend
Alle genannten Studiengänge schließen mit dem Bachelor of Education (BEd) ab.Das Lehramtsstudium im Bereich der Sekundarstufe Allge-meinbildung wird ab dem Studienjahr 2016/17 gemeinsam in der Verbundregion Nord-Ost angeboten. Beteiligt sind alle Pädagogischen Hochschulen in Wien und NÖ sowie die Universität Wien.

Für den Bereich Ausbildung an der KPH Wien/Krems sind die drei Institute Ausbildung in Wien und Krems verantwortlich:
Initial Teacher Education
The initial teacher education programmes at the University College of Teacher Education provide training in specialised subject knowledge for future teachers at primary or secondary schools and in religious education of all denominations and religions concerned. Currently the following programmes are offered at the two campuses in Vienna-Strebersdorf and Krems-Mitterau:
� Teaching degree for primary schools (240 EC, BEd: 8 semesters + MEd degree programme)
� BEd teaching degree for new middle schools (180 EC, 6 semesters, discontinued)
� BEd teaching degree for special schools (180 EC, 6 semesters, discontinued)
� BEd teaching degree for primary schools (180 EC, 6 semesters, discontinued)
� BEd teaching degree for religious education at primary and lower-secondary schools (180 EC, 6 semesters, discontinued)
From the academic year 2016/17 onwards a teaching degree for specialised subject knowledge will be offered in a joint programme of the University of Vienna and the participating colleges of teacher education in Vienna and Lower Austria.

Continuous Teacher EducationDie zwei Institute der Fortbildung der KPH Wien/Krems bieten in Kooperation mit den Bildungsverantwortlichen des BMBF, dem Landesschulrat für NÖ, dem Stadtschulrat für Wien und den Schulämtern der Erzdiözese Wien und der Diözese St. Pölten eine Reihe an Veranstaltungen, Seminaren und Lehrveranstaltungen für LehrerInnen aller Schultypen und Schulformen sowie für Interessierte in anderen pädagogischen Arbeitsfeldern an.

The two departments at the University College of Teacher Education cooperate closely with the Federal Ministry of Education and Women‘s Affairs (BMBF), the local education authorities for Vienna and Lower Austria, the archdiocese of Vienna and the Diocese of St Pölten to offer a series of programmes, seminars and lectures for teachers of all school types as well as for members of other educational institutions.

Das umfassende Weiterbildungsprogramm der KPH Wien/Krems ermöglicht berufsbegleitend den Erwerb berufsbezogener und ergänzen-der Zusatzqualifikationen. Weiterbildung ist in einer sich stetig verändernden Gesellschaft Teil einer lebenslangen Ausbildung, aber auch eine Investition in langfristige Berufszufriedenheit, in Motivation und in Leistungsfähigkeit.
Der Bereich der Weiterbildung versteht sich zudem als Bindeglied zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis, und bietet in seinen Formaten höchste inhaltliche Qualität.
Das Weiterbildungsangebot der KPH umfasst:

� Hochschullehrgänge mit 60 EC,
� Hochschullehrgänge mit Masterabschluss mit 120 EC (Abschluss: Master of Arts, MA, bzw. Master of Education, MEd).

The advanced teacher training programmes of the University College of Teacher Education are geared towards in-service teacher training in areas like professional enrichment and additional qualifications. Advanced teacher training is both part of life-long learning in a constantly changing society, as well as a good investment in long-term job satisfaction, professional motivation and resilience.
In addition, these high-quality programmes lead to a improved understanding of pedagogical theory and the practice of teaching.
The following programmes are currently on offer:
� Training programmes of up to 30 EC

� MA programmes (120 EC) (Degrees awar-ded: Master of Arts, Master of Education)
Every year about 1,000 teachers participate in these advanced teacher training programmes..

Die drei Praxisschulen der KPH Wien/Krems sind zusätzlich zu den im Schulorganisationsgesetz, BGBl. Nr. 242/1962, genannten Aufgaben einer Kultur der kontinuierlichen Entwicklung, Überprüfung und des Sichtbarmachens von Innovationen im Unterricht verpflichtet und wirken an der Einführung der Studierenden in die Erziehungs- und Unterrichtspraxis im Sinne einer berufsnahen schulpraktischen Aus-bildung mit.
Die Praxisschulen sind Orte, an denen Studierende reflektierte Praxiskompetenz gewinnen und erfahren, dass pädagogisches Han-deln sich auf Basis eines christlichen Welt- und Menschenbildes an der Würde und Authentizität der Heranwachsenden zu orientieren hat.

Practice Schools
In addition to the requirements of the School Organisation Act, BGBL Nr. 242/1962, specifying the duties of schools, the three practice schools of the University College of Teacher Education Vienna/Krems adhere to the principles of continuous professional development, accountability and the manifestation of innovation in the teaching process and contribute to the initial teacher education programmes through school placements.
The practice schools are venues where student teachers can develop their teaching skills in a practical as well as a reflective process and so they experience that teaching processes which are based on Christian values and principles have to focus on the dignity and authenticity of young people.
The following three schools are run by the University College of Teacher Education Vienna/Krems:

Sie ermöglichen den Studierenden in enger Verzahnung mit Veranstaltungen der Theorie in den Bereichen Unterrichten, Erzie-hen, Diagnostizieren, Beurteilen, Evaluieren, Forschen und Entwickeln, praktisch zu arbeiten.
Durch die Kooperation von Lehrkräften, Hochschullehrenden und Studierenden unterstützen die Praxisschulen berufsfeldbezo-gene Forschung. Als Modellschulen erproben die Praxisschulen neue Unterrichtskonzepte, nehmen an Schulentwicklungsprozes-sen teil und gestalten aktuelle Veränderungen im Bildungswesen mit.
Die Praxisschulen nehmen ihre pädagogische Verantwortung als katholische Schulen wahr und gestalten unter der Leitidee eines christlich geprägten Profils der KPH ihr eigenes Unterrichts- und Erziehungskonzept. Basierend auf gegenseitiger Wertschätzung, Toleranz und Solidarität wird jedes Kind mit seinen individuellen Interessen und Begabungen wahrgenommen und diffe-renziert gefordert und gefördert.
Drei Schulen in Wien und Krems sind der KPH angeschlossen: Praxisvolksschule Wien-Strebersdorf, Praxis Neue Mittelschule Wien-Strebersdorf, Praxisvolksschule Krems-Mitterau
The practice schools provide opportunities for students to practice face to face what they have acquired in areas like teaching and learning, education, assessment, evaluation, research and development.
In addition, the practice schools provide the basis for the close cooperation of teachers, lecturers and students in matters of educational research. They take part in trial programmes of new teaching concepts, contribute to school development processes and thus contribute to further improve the educational system.
As Roman Catholic schools they develop their own teaching and learning concepts on the basis of the Christian tenets of the University College of Teacher Education. Mutual respect, tolerance and solidarity are the core guidelines which enable the teaching staff to view their pupils’ individual talents and to provide differentiated enrichment and support programmes.

Die Beratungszentren an der KPH Wien/Krems bieten sowohl rasche Hilfestellungen wie auch längerfristig unterstützende Begleitungen, wie z. B. in Krisen, Konflikten, Phasen der Neuorien- tierung, Gesundheitsfragen, Burn Outs oder sonstigen innerschulischen und persönlichen Problemfeldern.

Institut für Begabungsentwicklung und Innovation (TIBI)
Das Thomasianum, Institut für Begabungs-entwicklung und Innovation (TIBI), wurde 2004 von der Erzdiözese Wien als Aus-bildungs-, Service- und Beratungsein-richtung gegründet und 2007 in die KPH Wien/Krems eingegliedert.
Die Philosophie von TIBI folgt im Sinne eines christlichen Menschenbildes einem dynamischen Begabungsbegriff, der einen professionellen Umgang mit individuellen Lernvoraussetzungen und Leistungshete-rogenität im Fokus hat. TIBI trägt durch seine Angebote für SchülerInnen, Eltern und Lehrende dazu bei, dass jede Schü-lerin/jeder Schüler die Förderung erhält, die sie/er benötigt.

Institute for Enrichment and Innovation (TIBI)
The programmes of TIBI (Thomasianum, Institute for Gifted Education and Inno-vation) was founded in 2004 by the Archdiocese of Vienna to provide training, service and counselling facilities. In 2007 it became part of the University College of Teacher Education Vienna/Krems.
Based on Christian values, its principles reflect a dynamic concept of talents and abilities, which revolve in a professional way around heterogeneity and indivi-dual learning requirements. Thus the pro-grammes for pupils, parents and teachers at TIBI ensure that every pupil is supported according to their needs.

Beratungszentrum KOMPASSBeratungszentrum für Gesundheits-förderung und Berufszufriedenheit von Pädagoginnen und Pädagogen
Das Beratungszentrum KOMPASS möchte durch bedarfsorientierte Angebote das subjektive Gesundheitsempfinden, die Lebens- und Berufszufriedenheit nach-haltig stärken.
Maßgeschneiderte Prozessbegleitung, die Vermittlung von Beratungs- und Coaching- Möglichkeiten, die Koordination von innovativen Fort- und Weiterbildungs-angeboten sowie zahlreiche Veranstal- tungen und Veranstaltungsreihen zu aktuellen Themen der Gesundheits-förderung und der Berufszufriedenheit sollen PädagogInnen auf dem Weg zur Stärkung ihrer persönlichen Lebens- und Gesundheitskompetenzen unterstützen.

Advisory Centre KOMPASSAdvisory Centre for Personal Wellness, Resilience and Job Satisfaction of Teachers
KOMPASS aims to provide support for enhancing personal and professional development, job satisfaction and indi-vidual health of teachers.
Tailor-made supervision, managing counselling and coaching opportunities, coordinating advanced teacher training and continuous teacher education as well as organising events and presenta-tions on topics enhancing personal well-ness and job satisfaction should support teachers to strengthen their competences with respect to health and well-being.

Interreligious and Intercultural Advisory Centre (iiB)
The Interreligious and Intercultural Advi-sory Centre (iiB) is the result of a close cooperation between the University College of Teacher Education and IRPA, the privately run teacher training institu-tion for Islamic religion at lower secon-dary schools. The centre focuses on schools (school leaders, teaching staff, student teachers and parents) who feel the need for more profound information on interreligious and intercultural issues as required by the constantly growing diversity in language, culture and religion.
Experts of various religions and denomi-nations are available for counselling or for workshops in schools.

Interreligiöses und interkulturelles Beratungszentrum (iiB)
Das interreligiöse und interkulturelle Bera-tungszentrum (iiB) ist ein Kooperationspro-jekt der KPH Wien/Krems und der IRPA, dem privaten Studiengang für das Lehramt für Islamische Religion an Pflichtschulen.Das iiB-Angebot richtet sich an Schulen (Schulleitungen, LehrerInnen, Lehramts-studierende und Eltern), die aufgrund der ständig wachsenden sprachlichen, kul-turellen und religiösen Diversität unserer Gesellschaft einen gesteigerten Informati-onsbedarf in den Bereichen Interreligiosi-tät und Interkulturalität haben.
Die iiB-ExpertInnen unterschiedlicher Religionen und Konfessionen beraten in Gesprächen oder stehen Schulen in Workshops zur Verfügung.

The specific ecumenical character of the University College of Teacher Education manifests itself in the activities of the pastoral team, which consists of Roman Catholic and Orthodox priests and one Protestant pastor. Their ecumenical cooperation is expressed in their motto: „Everybody who works at the college is invited to share this community with the pastoral team as they are baptised into Christ and to let God’s Kingdom resound in their diversity.”The Christian spirituality as practised at the University College of Teacher Education fosters interreligious encounters. At the Strebersdorf Campus a room of silence, designated to prayer and meditation, is also open for all non-Christian groups. This room is equipped with prayer stools, cushions and prayer and hymn books as well as prayer rugs to encourage interreligious gatherings. SCIVIA (lat. for “Know your ways”), the centre for pastoral care and communication located in Krems-Mitterau is a unique place of vivid exchange and pastoral care and serves as an open forum for lecturers, students and college staff alike.
HochschulpastoralDie die KPH Wien/Krems tragende ökumenische Zusammenarbeit prägt auch die Arbeit des Hochschulpastoralteams. Es besteht aus katholischen und orthodoxen Seelsorgern und einer evangelischen Seelsorgerin. Ihr ökumenisches Miteinander kommt im Leitsatz zum Ausdruck: „Alle, die in dieser Hochschule arbeiten, sind aus der Berufung durch die Taufe heraus eingeladen, mit den für die Hochschul-pastoral Verantwortlichen Kirche zu sein und das Reich Gottes in seiner Vielfalt und Buntheit zum Leuchten zu bringen.“ Christliche Spiritualität an der KPH Wien/Krems ist offen für interreligiöse Begegnung. Der „Raum der Stille“ am Campus Wien-Strebers-dorf steht auch den Mitgliedern nicht-christlicher Religionen zum Gebet offen. Neben Gebetshockern, Gebetspolstern sowie Gebets- und Gesangsbüchern zählen auch muslimische Gebetsteppiche zu seiner Ausstattung, um interreligiöse Gebetstreffen zu ermöglichen. Das Zentrum „SCIVIA“ (lat. Scivias – „Wisse die Wege“) am Campus Krems-Mitterau ist ein einzigartiger Ort der Kommunikation und Seelsorge, ein offenes Forum für Lehrende, Studierende und MitarbeiterInnen.

The Department of Research and Development supports the research and development projects of members of staff at KPH. It provides individual advice and helps to strengthen the networ-king of researchers in their teams, of competence centres and cooperative projects. It ensures quality control through research applications, feedback procedures and specific staff development programmes. The cooperation with students and a better coupling of research, teaching and teaching practice are key concerns.
The competence centres at the KPH Vienna/Krems are regarded as opportunities for academic and interdisciplinary discourse and networking, through which new research projects are generated. The key concerns of these centres are subject areas which are of wider importance in initial teacher education, in continuous teacher education and in advanced teacher training.

Das Institut Forschung & Entwicklung fördert die Forschungs- und Entwicklungsvorhaben der Lehrenden der KPH Wien/Krems. Es sorgt für individuelle Beratung und für die Vernetzung der Forschen-den in Teams, Kompetenzzentren und (internationalen) Koope-rationsvorhaben. Es sichert Qualität durch Forschungsanträge, Feedbackverfahren und spezifische Fortbildungsangebote. Zu den Forschungsschwerpunkten gehören: Inklusion und Heterogenität, Interreligiöses und interkulturelles Lernen, Kompetenzentwicklung sowie digitale Medien im Unterricht.

Internationale Vernetzung
The University College of Teacher Education Vienna/Krems cooperates with more than 40 universities and colleges and actively supports the cooperation of these institutions on an academic and practice-oriented level.
Students at university college can opt for a variety of international exchange programmes: Erasmus semesters abroad, international weeks and internships abroad provide additional inspiration and foster international exchange, especially in research and development projects.
A variety of opportunities is available for lecturers and non-teaching staff at the university college, e.g. academic exchange programmes, teaching mobilities and teacher/staff trainings at partner institutions.
Die KPH ist international mit mehr als 40 Universitäten und Hochschulen partnerschaftlich vernetzt und fördert aktiv die Zusammenarbeit auf wissenschaftlicher und praxis-orientierter Ebene.
Den Studierenden der KPH Wien/Krems steht eine Vielzahl an Möglichkeiten des internationalen Austauschs zur Ver- fügung: Erasmussemester, International Weeks und Aus- landspraktika bereichern den Studienalltag und intensivieren den Austausch. In Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprojekten wird intensiv zusammengearbeitet.

GESCHICHTE und STANDORTEGeschichte
Die KPH Wien/Krems ist die größte private Pädagogische Hochschule Österreichs. Sie wurde am 1. Oktober 2007 von der Erzdiözese Wien errichtet: Acht zuvor selbstständige Institutionen – darunter die Pädagogischen und die Religionspädagogischen Akademien der Diözesen Wien und St. Pölten sowie das Religionspädagogische Institut der Evangelischen Kirche in Österreich – wurden unter einem Dach vereinigt. Als weltweit einzigartiges Modell wird die Hochschule in ökumenischer Trägerschaft von sieben Kirchen geführt.
History
The University College of Teacher Education of Christian Churches Vienna/Krems was established in 2007 (opening date October 1, 2007) by the Archdiocese of Vienna. Eight hitherto independent institutions – among them the academies of initial teacher training and of religious education of the Dioceses Vienna and St. Pölten and the Institute of Religious Education run by the Protestant Church in Austria – were merged under one roof. Today the college operates under the ecumenical trusteeship of seven Christian churches and thus is a unique institution worldwide.

Fünf Standorte – drei Campus und zwei Bildungszentren – beherbergen derzeit die unterschiedlichen Institute, die Aus-, Fort- und Weiterbildungseinrichtungen sowie die zahlreichen Organisationseinheiten der KPH Wien/Krems.

Die von der 1971 gegründeten „Religionspädago-gischen Akademie“ der Erzdiözese Wien angebotene Ausbildung von ReligionslehrerInnen und literarischen Lehrkräften fand zunächst an unterschiedlichen Stand-orten in Wien statt, bis sich die Diözese schließlich zur Neuerrichtung des heutigen großen Gebäudes „am alten Auweg“ in Strebersdorf entschloss. Nach und nach wurden die unterschiedlichen Institutionen an diesem Standort auch in verschiedenen rechtlichen Konstruktionen zusammengeführt.
Originally the Academy of Religious Pedagogy (founded in 1971) offered teacher education programmes for teachers of religious education and for other subjects which were taught at various locations in Vienna before a new larger building – the present college – was erected in Strebersdorf. These programmes were gradually set up in Strebersdorf and their legal structure was unified.

Der Campus Krems-Mitterau war in seinem Ursprung die „Pädagogische Akademie Krems“, die 1968 als erste Pädagogische Akademie Österreichs für ange-hende LehrerInnen von der Diözese St Pölten eröffnet wurde.
Im Oktober 2012 präsentierte sich der Standort Krems mit einem neu errichteten Studierendenwohnheim sowie einem rundum erneuerten, modernen Cam-pusgelände. Die 185 neu entstandenen Wohnplätze stehen nicht nur den Studierenden der KPH, sondern auch anderen Auszubildenden zur Verfügung.
The Campus Krems-Mitterau was originally called Pedagogical Academy Krems, founded by the Diocese St. Pölten as the first pedagogical academy for initial teacher education.
In 2012 a new hall of residence was built and the campus was extensively modernised. The new buildings house 185 students, not only from the University College but also from other schools and colleges in Krems.

Das sogenannte „Steinhaus“, eine großzügig ange-legte Privatvilla im begehrten Cottage-Viertel des 18. Bezirks, wurde im Jahr 1958 von der Evangelischen Frauenschule aus Privatbesitz erworben. 1970 wurde im Park der Frauenschule das neue Gebäude vom Kirchenamt der Evangelischen Kirche A.B. errichtet, das 2002 durch einen Zubau mit dem alten Gebäude verbunden wurde.
Die KPH Wien/Krems ist seit 2007, d. h. seit ihrer Gründung, an diesem Standort vertreten. 2013 eröffnete sie in ihren Räumlichkeiten das neue Zentrum für Weiterbildung.
Originally the present building was a generously designed private villa in the sought-after residential neighbourhood of the 18th district. In 1958 this building was taken over by the Protestant School for Girls. In 1970 the Lutheran Church built their administrative building in the gardens of the school, which was linked with the original building by an annex in 2002.
Since its foundation in 2007 the University College of Teacher Education of Christian Churches maintains one of its campuses in Gersthof. In 2013 the newly established Centre for Advanced Teacher Training was opened on the premises.

The location where the present Curhaus can be found in St Stephen’s Square has long been linked to events related to the history of education in Vienna. Shortly after the consecration of St Stephen’s Cathedral in 1147 the first parish school was founded. In 1296 this school was handed over to the municipality of Vienna by Duke Albrecht I, which marked a major step for the educational development of the city.
The present building was erected in 1740 as the home of the clerics of the cathedral (hence Curhaus). Apart from the Educational Centre of the University College it houses various administrative units of the Archdiocese, the Archiepiscopal School Board, the offices of the parish, the living quarters of the dean and the senior clerics of the cathedral and the well-known Curhaus Library.

Der Platz des sogenannten „Curhauses“ am Stephans-platz 3 und 3a blickt auf eine bewegte Geschichte mit bildungshistorisch prägenden Ereignissen für die Stadt Wien zurück: Schon bald nach der Weihe der Stephanskirche 1147 wurde hier eine „Pfarrschule“ errichtet. Ein für das Bildungswesen bedeutsamer Schritt erfolgte 1296, als Herzog Albrecht I. die Stephansschule den Bürgern der Stadt Wien überließ.
Das heutige Gebäude wurde 1740 als „Curhaus“ errichtet und beherbergt neben dem KPH Bildungs-zentrum Stephansplatz verschiedene diözesane Ver-waltungsstellen, das Erzbischöfliche Schulamt, die Pfarrräume, die Wohnungen für Dompfarrer und die Curpriester sowie die bedeutsame Curhausbibliothek.

Das KPH Bildungszentrum am Standort Singerstraße Nr. 7 befindet sich im Deutschordenshaus und liegt in unmittel-barer Nachbarschaft zum Bildungszentrum Stephansplatz.
Im Lauf seiner Geschichte beherbergte das Deutschordens-haus zahlreiche bedürftige, aber auch illustre Menschen, wie Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart oder Johannes Brahms.
Das Wiener Deutschordenshaus ist seit 1809 Sitz des Hochmeisters des Deutschen Ordens. Darin befinden sich zudem die beiden repräsentativen Sitzungssäle des Erz- bischöflichen Schulamts. Öffentlich zugängig sind heute nur die Schatzkammer und die Kirche.
The Educational Centre Singerstraße is located in the residence of the Teutonic Order close to the Educational Centre Stephansplatz. In the course of its history this building provided lodgings for many in need as well as for well-known people like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart or Johannes Brahms.
Since 1809 it is the residence of the Grand Master of the order. In addition, it houses two richly decorated meeting rooms of the Archiepiscopal School Board. Today only the treasury and the church are open to the public.
