Overview

When: Saturday, December 3, 2016

This is your chance to join a longstanding Fresno tradition!

The 87th Annual Downtown Fresno Christmas Parade travels a new

route this year passing many of our city’s icons.

This years theme: “12 Days of Christmas”

Cash prizes will be awarded to the best entries and the parade takes

place rain or shine (...or snow)!

Rules & Regulations

Parade participation is open to the entire community, subject to Downtown Fresno Partnership final

approval

All participants must be in an appropriate festive theme or holiday attire. All entries must be

decorated to depict parade theme, “12 days of Christmas”.

Each parade entry must complete a separate parade entry packet.

All animals must be on a leash or rein. Participants are responsible for all animal waste. Please help

keep our city clean. You must provide a clean-up person. If this person is not at the staging area,

your entry will be excluded from participating at the parade.

All entries must check in at staging areas by 9:00 a.m. Please note: staging areas, parade route map,

and specific check-in details will follow via email by November 18, 2016.

This is a forward moving parade, and there will be no grandstand to stop and perform. Follow parade

staff directions to eliminate gaps. Judges will be hidden along parade route.

Multiple cash prizes will be given for best representations of our theme, best Christmas spirit, and

best performances. Judging will include appearance, creativity, enthusiasm and relevance to theme.

No entry can display Santa Claus or Mrs. Claus. The Downtown Fresno Partnership will provide

them on their float.

Floats:

Must not be more than 8 feet wide, 12 feet tall or 20 feet long.

Car clubs limited to 5 cars per club entry and must be decorated. If cars are not decorated on the

day of parade, they will be excluded from the event. Motorcycle Clubs limited to 10 motorcycles per

entry.

Marching/Walking Groups:

All marching/walking groups must maintain in forward motion. There is no stopping for

performances.

Groups must be dressed in appropriate Christmas attire.

For safety reasons, throwing out candy or other items is NOT permitted. Please, inform all individuals

involved with your group of this regulation—violations will exclude your group from future parades.

Entry Fee Parade packet (pages 2, 4 & 5) and entry fee must be received by Friday, November 4th,

2016. Packets received after deadline pay a late fee of $15. The last day to submit the pa-

rade packet with the late fee is November 10th, 2016. Packets received after this date will

not be approved for submission. Entries without full payment will not be accepted.

Entry fee is $40 and it is non-refundable.

As a prerequisite to participate in the Downtown Fresno Christmas Parade on

December 3rd, 2016 the Undersigned, (print your name) ______________________ of

legal age and as a legally responsible party and representative for all participants in the

aforementioned entry, knowingly and voluntarily assumes, on behalf of all participants,

any and all risks inherent to participation in the Parade and hereby voluntarily releases,

discharges, waives & relinquishes any and all actions and claims for personal injury,

property damage or wrongful death occurring as a result of observing, participating and/or

engaging in activities, operations and/or functions for whatever period Christmas Parade

may continue, and does for their heirs, executors, administrators, assigns hereby release,

waive, discharge Downtown Fresno Partnership and The City of Fresno and their officials,

sponsors, volunteers, agents and employees. Additionally, the undersigned voluntarily

consents to the use of participants’ photographs, names, images and likeness (Recordings)

and grants royalty-free irrevocable permission to use, reproduce, publish, broadcast and

distribute said Recordings.
