Preliminary Streaming for Grade 10 in 2016-2017
The Preliminary Streaming provides important information for the school to plan the
best curriculum structure for Grade 10 in the coming year so as to meet the needs of
most students as possible. Grade 9 students taking part in this Preliminary Streaming
are kindly requested to do the streaming seriously. Information that does not genuinely
reflect your needs would affect your chance of studying the most preferred elective
subjects in Grade 10. Your cooperation is highly appreciated.
You are allowed to choose at most 20 choices. Please indicate your preference by
using 1 to 20 (1 = most preferred and 20 least preferred).

Streaming Arrangements for M1/M2
as Extended Modules of Mathematics in 10D and 10S
10D and 10S students may take M1/M2 as extended modules of Mathematics. These
students will be assigned to the Compulsory + M1 group and the Compulsory + M2
group. Each of the two groups has a quota of 24 students.
Any 10D or 10S student who would like to take M1 or M2 as an extended module of
Mathematics
(a) should have a G9 annual position in Mathematics not exceeding 140, or
(b) is recommended by the Department of Mathematics (Junior Form).
After being assigned to the Compulsory + M1 group or the Compulsory + M2 group, a
student may be required to drop M1/M2
(a) upon promotion to G11 if
(i) his G10 annual position in the Compulsory Part exceeds 110, or
(ii) his G10 annual score in M1/M2 is below 40;
(b) upon promotion to G12 if
(i) his G11 annual position in the Compulsory Part exceeds 110, or
(ii) his G11 annual score in M1/M2 is below 40.
Once such a student is required to drop M1/M2, he will not be allowed to take M1/M2
as an elective.
Arrangements for G10 Mathematics Lessons
Compared to students taking M1/M2 as electives, students taking M1/M2 as extended
modules of Mathematics are expected to master the curriculum content more quickly.
The arrangements for G10 Mathematics lessons in the academic year 2016-2017 are as

to benefit from their studies. The additional requirements on the Compulsory Part and
the Extended Part of Mathematics may change from year to year. Students may refer to
http://www.edb.gov.hk/en/curriculum-development/kla/ma/news.html for the most
updated requirements.
Overseas Universities
Overseas universities may also set programme-specific requirements on Mathematics.
Students are advised to regularly check the requirements of the programmes they are
interested in and consult our university counsellors at the Centre for Further Studies

HKDSE Visual Arts
I. Overview
The syllabus aims to nurture students’ knowledge of art and their ability in creativity and visual expression.
Subject content would be closely related to aspects for students in developing their potential to express themselves
aesthetically, to gain an understanding of visual logic as well as an awareness of the historical and social
