Setting up Security Roles The 2017 TaxSlayer Pro Program includes a set of Predefined Security Roles. Roles will be used to set permissions for each preparer.

You can use the predefined security roles, create your own roles or edit permissions for each preparer individually.

Predefined Security Roles There are four predefined security roles:

• Administrator • Return Preparer • Super User • Unlimited

Administrator The default Administrator (ADMIN) Account Role will be used to manage permissions for preparers as well as manage preparer usernames and passwords. The ADMIN Account Role cannot be edited or assigned to any other preparer. The ADMIN Account username is ADMIN. This username cannot be changed.

The ADMIN account can access all areas of the program except the tax returns menu. The ADMIN account is not a preparer account and will not be used to create or edit tax returns.

Unlimited The Unlimited Role has unlimited access to all areas of the program.

Super User The Super User Role has access to all areas of the program except the Firm / ERO / Preparer Setup Menu.

Super User is the default security role for all preparers.

Return Preparer The Return Preparer Role has limited access to several parts of the program. A preparer assigned the role of Return Preparer will not have access to the following areas of the program:

A preparer assigned the role of Return Preparer will not have the ability to change the Return Preparer associated with a tax return.
