Dear YES Community: Thank you so much for your support and partnership with Youth Eastside Services (YES) in 2019 to collectively impact and transform the lives of the children, youth and families we serve. Because of you YES was able to work with thousands of individuals and families, as well as advocate for change on a community-wide level. This past year brought us many challenges as well as opportunities. Sadly, we continued to see locally the same trend seen on the national level of increased mental health challenges in our youth, especially depression, anxiety and suicidality. The increased demand for services — particularly mental health and substance use treatment — overloaded not just YES but our community partners and the sector as a whole. There were young people in our community lost to suicide, and as you likely saw in the news, Fentanyl overdoses. YES also experienced the challenge seen across the entire mental health sector of simply not enough clinicians in the workforce. In a proactive response for our community’s youth, YES continued to expand clinical work in 2019 using impactful evidence-based therapies. We moved to a team-based approach of therapists, case managers and psychiatrists who work in collaboration. In response to the rising demand, we increased access to our services with the addition of Saturday appointments. We continued to advance our prevention work in schools, advancing universal mental health screenings for students, which includes assessments and responses to suicidality and substance use. We provided more opportunities for community education with Youth Mental Health First Aid classes and support groups for 2019 ANNUAL REPORT David W. Dear YES Community:Thank you so much for your support and partnership with Youth Eastside Services (YES) in 2019 to collectively impact and transform the lives of the children, youth and families we serve.

We provided more opportunities for community education with Youth Mental Health First Aid classes and support groups for

Please know your generosity and support of YES is truly making a significant and ongoing impact. You empower us to be forward-thinking and able to continuously adapt to the most current and emerging needs of our community. We sincerely thank you for leaning in and making it possible for us to carry forward this important work of the YES mission.
