IEEE 802.11ah

Use 750-950 MHz licensed exempt bands ds to enable long-range and lower-

power wireless sensor networks and multiple-node wireless networks

802.11ah draft 1.0 was conducted in Sep/2013, standardized by Mar/2016 by

TGah

Wi-Fi Alliance announced the Wi-Fi HaLow designation for products

incorporating 802.11ah technology in 2017

Devices that support Wi-Fi HaLow are expected to operate in 2.4 and 5 GHz as

well as 900 MHz

Wi-Fi HaLow devices will support IP-based connectivity and become important

in reaching the full potential of IoT

14

IoT Standard Comparison

802.11ah operates in frequency bands below 1 GHz, offering longer range,

lower power connectivity to Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ products.

802.11ah operates in the Sub-1GHz band. This lower part of the spectrum

can penetrate walls and other physical barriers, better range than the

current 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi bands

802.11ah is intended to extend the Wi-Fi suite of standards into the

resource-constrained world of battery-powered products, such

as sensors and wearables

15

Page 16: 2019 Investor Conference

Market Outlook of 802.11ah

35+ million units by 2022 across

smart home, networking, and other

IoT applications

Leverage existing WiFi standard and

network for ease of implementation

and acceleration of main-stream

market adoption and acceptance.
