Join us at one or both of the following events to give thanks to our God for our many blessings! The annual RL Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 7:00 p.m. in the Random Lake High School auditorium. Thanksgiving Day Mass in our cluster will be at 8:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Chapel in Lake Church. All are welcome. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from our parish and school staffs.
SACRAMENTS/PRAYERS/NOTICES
Please don’t forget that this is the time of year when any glass memorials should be removed from the cemeteries. They could fill up with water, freeze and then shatter. Also, any dead plants should be removed. Thank you.
CEMETERY REMINDER
There will be an Advent Morning of Reflection on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the OLL Community Room. Ever get too caught up in preparing for “secular” Christmas? Does the busyness of decorating, baking and shopping prevent you from finding quiet time to ponder the coming of the Christ child? Do the Christmas carols playing on radio stations in November cause you to skim right over Advent preparation time? This is your chance to spend some time in spiritual preparation for the coming of Christ anew in our broken world. Dr . Daniel Scholz will be our presenter, and he will base his talk on the Advent Scripture readings. Dan is a Scripture Scholar and has taught Scripture at Pius XII High School, St. Francis Seminary and Cardinal Stritch University. He is a frequent presenter at parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Dr. Scholz is an engaging speaker with a good sense of humor. ALL FAITH DENOMINATIONS ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND. There is no charge, but a free will offering will be accepted to help provide more opportunities like this in the future. Registration is appreciated, but not required. Contact Deb Hamm with questions.
ADVENT MORNING OF REFLECTION

DS Mass Ministry Schedule for Jan. thru March will be out by mid-December. If there are days you do not want to be scheduled, let Terri Schueller know at [email protected] OR leave a message for her at 262-692-9994. Mary Momper has “retired” from scheduling. We appreciate and thank her for all the years she gave to this ministry.
The Lake Church Book Study group will be discussing A Hole in the Gospel at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30 at Pat Uselding’s house. If you cannot join the group, you can purchase a book and read it at home. Please contact Deb Hamm to order a book, at just $10.
St. Vincent DePaul Divine Savior Conference will meet at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, in the basement of Holy Cross Chapel. We would like to expand our conference to include all ages, especially teenagers and young adults, and be more ethnically diverse. We make home visits to clients in need in Fredonia and Belgium areas. We could expand services, such as visiting elderly and homebound individuals and assisted-living facilities in our area . For more information on the society or to refer someone in need, call Carol Pomeday, president, at 262-416-8332 or any other member.

Scriptures: Prov. 31:10-13,19-20,30-31; 1 Thes 5:1-6; Matt 25:14-30
Today’s Gospel reminds me of one of the best things I’ve ever read about fear. It is called Our Deepest Fear and written by Marianne Williamson. I prayed with these words while I was on my 30 day silent retreat in January of 2008.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually who are we not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
I know that I need to be reminded of this from time to time. Sometimes I don’t feel so brilliant. Sometimes I think everyone else is brighter than I, but brilliance isn’t limited to him or her…that CEO, that doctor, or that amazing parent. Brilliance is in you, and you, and you and me. We each have radiance waiting to shine forth in our world that is so in need of light and warmth.
God gave each of us talents to be shared. Let’s not bury them like the last character in the Gospel. Use them to light up the world. Use them to warm another’s heart. Use them to liberate your own fears and the fears of others. Use them to encourage those around you to share their talents. If each one of us used every talent God has given us, imagine how bright and warm our world would be! No one would feel cold and alone.

OUR LADY OF THE LAKES
The Renovation Calendar Raffle is underway. It is a two- month calendar where a $300 winner will be chosen every Monday and Wednesday in February and March. Tickets are $20 each and this fundraiser could potentially bring in $15,000. Only 1,000 tickets are being sold. That is where we need your help! Would you be willing to sell 5, 10 or more to your friends, family members, co-workers? These also make a great Christmas gift! Contact Jodi Keller (262-689-4253 or [email protected]) or Susan at the Parish Office (920-994-4380 or [email protected]). All ticket stubs need to be turned in by the middle of January.
Our renovation project is getting closer! Beginning after Thanksgiving, some of our statues and the Stations of the Cross will be removed in preparation for the work that needs to be done. Our statues will be cleaned and touched up and returned at the completion of the renovation. If you are one of those folks who has been meaning to donate to this project and hasn’t gotten around to it, now would be a good time. If you haven’t given much thought to a donation, please prayerfully consider how you can help make our chapel beautiful!
Ladies Night Out II - Dec. 13 If you were unable to join us for the first Ladies Night Out with Lynn Palmer, you are in luck; we will be having a Christmas themed evening at 6:00 p.m. on Dec. 13! You will have the option of painting a Nativity scene or a Christmas tree on a 4’ x 1’ pine board. This will be an instructional step by step class. There will be a limit of 50 adult ladies, with a maximum of 20 able to do the Nativity, and 30 able to do the Christmas tree. There will be hot cocoa, apple cider, popcorn, and cookies to begin the evening. The cost for this event will be $25 dollars payable by cash or check that evening. All proceeds, aside from materials, will go toward the Random Lake Chapel Renovation Fund. Please RSVP the name and contact info of each lady, as well their choice of Nativity Scene or Christmas tree to Amanda Gronemeyer at 920-994-4380 or [email protected] by Dec. 8. Since our last event filled up rather quickly, to reserve a spot you must have all information ready when you RSVP. Hope to see you there!

CLUSTER HUMAN CONCERNS
SAINTLY FOOD FOR THOUGHT
St. Clement I, Pope, Feast Day Nov. 23
“How blessed and amazing are God's gifts, dear friends! Life with immortality, splendor with righteous(sic), truth with confidence, faith with assurance, self-control with holi-ness! And all these things are within our comprehension.”
As we celebrate Thanksgiving with our family and friends, let us remember to give thanks for the many gifts God has bestowed upon us. Often times, we remember to thank God for the material things we have received, food, money, clothing, a house…as these are all very apparent to us, but we forget to thank God for those things of a spiritual nature. It’s true, we ought to thank God for those gifts of a material nature, as they are both good and necessary to us. However, we must also recognize those gifts of a spiritual nature as well, for they are even more important to us than material items. Perhaps, we have never taken the time to reflect upon our spiritual gifts. All we need to do is take some quiet time to reflect upon those areas of virtue in our lives. It’s likely, that we have also received compliments from our family and friends in these areas. Maybe we have been told we are particularly patient or caring in nature, generous with our goods, joyful amidst adversity, or pure in our thoughts…the list goes on. These are the gifts that are of a lasting nature and will help us grow in sanctity. When we die, God will not judge us by our extravagant house or our expensive clothing; rather, we will be judged for our acts of charity to others. Our family and friends will not remember us for how much money we had or the model of car we had. Rather, they will remember us for how well we loved God and neighbor. For more information on St. Clement please visit https://www.ewtn.com/saintsholy/saints/C/stclementi.asp

Our next movie is Collateral Beauty on Tues., Nov. 28 at 6:00 p.m. in the OLL Community Room. When successful New York ad executive Howard Inlet (Will Smith) suffers a personal tragedy and retreats from life, his friends devise a drastic plan to reach him before he loses everything. This thought-provoking drama explores how even the deepest loss can reveal moments of beauty, and how the constants of love, time and death interlock in a life fully lived (from movie jacket). PG-13. 96 minutes. Bring your own snacks.
MOVIES WITH MEANING
Cast Members Needed for “The Living Nativity” - "The Living Nativity" will be presented again this year as part of Random Lake's "Night of Lights" celebration on Fri., Dec. 1. Needed are youths age 7 through teens to serve as angels, shepherds and innkeepers. Older teens are needed for the roles of Joseph, Mary and the narrators. Adults are needed to serve as the angel Gabriel and the Magi. Several practices will be held in mid-November. Please contact Sheila Jentsch at or [email protected] or 920-254-3915.
LIVING NATIVITY
Why is the statue of Mary at OLL depicted in brown? The brown garb Our Lady is wearing at our Random Lake Chapel is the traditional garb of the image of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, which is the patron saint of Our Lady of the Lakes. Although we will have our statues cleaned and touched up during the renovation, Mary will stay dressed in brown.

The mission of Divine Savior Parish is to use all the means God has given us to be a life-giving example of Christ’s love in our
community and beyond. In cooperation with the global Catholic Church and the
Archdiocese of Milwaukee, we accomplish this through prayer, frequent celebration
of the Sacraments, especially the Eucharist, study and sharing of our faith,
service to all, and by providing our children with Catholic roots deeply embedded in
faith in God.
The mission of Divine Savior Catholic School is to provide an environment for
children to excel personally, academically and spiritually. Together we share in the
mission of Divine Savior Parish to foster a faith-filled community where Catholic
values are learned through prayer, service and love. Our goal is to use these values
to develop lifelong learners and compassionate leaders.
The mission of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Congregation is to be a life-giving sign of Christ’s love, justice, and peace in our area of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, through the celebration of the sacraments,
especially the Eucharist, community prayer, spiritual reflection, and a commitment of
service to God’s people.

You can access the bulletin online: Go to the Divine Savior website at: http://divinesavior.weconnect.com and click on Publications on the top right hand side and you can view prior bulletins. You can also click on the bulletin link on the Our Lady of the Lakes website: ourladylakes.org
To have our bulletins emailed to you each week, go to parishesonline.com and type in your parish name and city. That will take you to a site that has recent bulletins. Scroll down to recent publications. Click on the “subscribe” button and enter your email and name. Each week, you will receive an email when the bulletin is ready.
Sheboygan’s Catholic Underground - Nov. 20 - Thanksgiving is r ight around the corner! Are you in the spir it of giving and looking for a simple yet meaningful way to brighten someone’s day? How about joining area young adults at Blessed Trinity’s Lodge (327 Giddings Ave. Sheboygan Falls), as we take part in a service project with Project Angel Hugs, a Plymouth based charity that ministers to the emotional needs of children with cancer and their families. We meet the first and third Mondays of the month at 6:30pm and begin with dinner, followed by a theme or activity. Our Lady of the Lakes regularly attends these events; if you are interested in joining us, please contact Amanda Gronemeyer at 920-447-2530.
Advocates of Ozaukee County - Keep all documentation of threatening behavior (i.e. text messages, emails, etc.) in a safe place. Support Services are available at 262-284-6902 or toll free: 1-877-375-4034.
Texas Roadhouse offers a Sunday Church program which donates 10% of your total food purchase to the church of your choice. Simply present a copy of the weekly church bulletin to your server at Texas Roadhouse and they will send us a check that month with their donation. Thank you.
Don’t forget to call your parish office if you are having surgery, or are diagnosed with a ser ious illness, or become homebound. Even if the hospital tells you that they will call your parish, they often do not follow through. That can leave the family thinking the parish knows about their illness and the parish doesn’t have any knowledge of it.
If you are interested in learning more about career opportunities working for the church as a layperson, Cardinal Stritch University has several programs that can prepare you for this type of ministry. Contact Deb Hamm if you are interested in learning more.
Do you need help to improve your marriage? Do you have trouble communicating? Deacon Gerry Malueg offers pastoral counseling at no cost, as a ministry of our cluster parishes. Call the parish office in Fredonia at 262-692-9994 to set up an appointment.
When is the last time you encouraged a young man to consider a vocation to the priesthood? We all talk about the priest shortage, but how many of us actively engage in making a difference for the future? If you know a single young man, encourage him to THINK PRIEST!
Would you be interested in making friendly visits to some of the homebound parishioners in our parishes? If so, please contact Deb Hamm. You can decide how many folks you’d like to visit and how often.
